The veterinarian and vet technician I saw today were amazing. They made my cat feel extremely comfortable before checking her vitals and kindly delivered their expert opinions. I will be returning to them in the future and am further appreciative of the kindness of the welcome service staff !

I would not recommend their boarding service to anyone. I have a dog who has bad anxiety around people he doesn’t know. He might become aggressive if he thinks you’re a threat to him or his family. the vet techs who help run the boarding services don’t know how to help/handle a behavioral dog at all. And instead of talking to me while I’m picking my dog up, they decided to call their manager and have the manager call me instead and tell me that they can’t handle a behavioral dog and that he’s not allowed back…

I called in at 3 pm on Friday when they closed at 5 pm in a last ditch effort for an emergency euthanasia. I am employed at another veterinary practice but was unable to go there due to the owner/doctor on vacation and understood it would be a long shot to get a last minute appointment. The staff were so understanding, kind and comforting through the process! I greatly appreciate them working me in last minute and being so compassionate toward our situation. They made a horrible situation a little bit better with the care they provided and I am extremely grateful.

The Plains veterinary hospital is a wonderful facility with caring staff. I have been looking for a good vet for the last two years with little luck, until coming here. Every single person we encountered including who we placed the appt with over the phone was kind and welcoming. Dr Winsley was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to talk through all the potential options for what we were facing. My Lhasa Apso lost use of his back legs. I had no clue what had happened. My normal vet was unavailable. I was told to call The Plains Veterinary Hospital . I have to admit I was nervous based on the reviews. I I went in with an open mind. They were very nice to me on the phone. I was able to obtain an appointment in less than an hour from the time I called. A tech name Michelle took care of us. She was absolutely wonderful! The vet that helped us was Dr. Erica Ryan. She was so gentle with my dog. She explained everything that she felt needed done. They tested him for Lyme disease. They did x-rays. Dr. Ryan discovered the problem was a disc. He was given medication. I was told that if he wasn’t better within four days a referral would be done for back surgery. I highly recommend this place.

Any time I need last minute help they have worked quickly to get me in or suggest other options if they can’t help. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. My dog is always so nervous with new people but when she’s there she happily greats everyone. I took her today due to some very bad diarrhea issues and they were so kind. Even though my dog was a bit uncomfortable from her tummy issues she was happily getting all the lovins from everyone. She is a long hair dog she is making such a mess in all the long hair on her butt. They were happy to help me trim her down so she would stay cleaner. They trimmed up her claws for me and even cleaned all the extra fluff out of her paw pads for me. While my dog doesn’t like these things being done the workers workers so so well with her and were so patient and gentle with her. I will happily continue to go to the Plains vet they are wonderful

We own five dogs and each one is always greeted warmly and cared for professionally. I mistakenly wrote the wrong time down for our foster dog and we were an hour late. Natasha explained my error and offered to work us in if we did not mind the wait. We met several people with their dogs during the wait and enjoyed the process. Brody was seen and we are very grateful to this practice and the kind knowledgeable people who run it. 30 year patron.

This place is the worst office to bring your loved pets in for treatment. I took my dog there for an ear infection and two weeks later he still has it. The plains vet hospital gave my dog prednisone steroids and NOT the topical ear cream everyone else issues. I had to pay $120 dollars. Forty of it being for an office visit. They wanted to recharge me the office fee and see my dog as a first time patient and he was not. The other veterinarian office on the plains is so much better. They’re vets are always the ones your pet sees, not a revolving list of veterinarian doctors each different from the last each time you visit. This place really truly sucks that’s why their practice sucks. Worst clinic in Athens county Ohio!

I’ve had multiple dogs medicated with Prozac. Dogs that would have been euthanized without it as they were aggressive due to their anxiety. I had friends contact me who had rescued a dog and were desperate to find a solution for their beagle who was have severe separation anxiety. I suggested Prozac, as the 200 mg of trazodone (very high dose) he was prescribed by the Plains Vet Hospital was not effective. Instead of prescribing a basic SSRI like Prozac, the vet turned them away and suggested they go see a behavioral specialist at OSU. This appointment would have cost them $400. Thankfully they decided to see a second opinion from Allen’s Pet Clinic. He gave them Prozac at the initial visit. Two weeks later, “he was a different dog”. No anxiety, happier, more laid back.Imagine how many dogs continue to be miserable because of them.He was also selling them a very expensive heart worm prevention that was unnecessarily overpriced.

This veterinarian hospital is ridiculously over priced,and I received more info from the vet tech than the vet...unreal. .for a nuetered over 300 I can get 3 dogs done for that in Columbus...won't be going back there.
