I don't believe I've been more humiliated than I was today at Dollar General on the plains. I will no longer use that location for shopping needs. I see they have a line backed up for the register so I use the self checkout well apparently some things did not scan properly and the employee that come up to me did not say ma'am can you check your items. no she Point blankly said she rang up this item put two in the bag she stole this item and didn't scan it at all. now clearly you would think it was a misunderstanding and been dealt with accordingly but she made a scene while doing this. The second employee that was with this lady I was familiar with for he works there quite often he calmly began looking through my bags pulled every single thing I had in my bags out onto the counter and told me I did not scan all of these items correctly that I could have dealt with because he was quiet about it he did not make a scene about it. In the end it come to find out three of my items did not scan. So before you use their self-checkout Please be aware that it does not work properly and you will be humiliated in front of everyone and you will be found guilty of stealing. FYI of course I had means of paying for every item I had and did so before leaving. Up on telling my son what had happened today he informed me that last night he was forced to use the self-checkout because of course no one's at the regular checkout when you go to check out that is a normal for there so he used the self-checkout and then an employee comes out of nowhere to tell him he did not scan any of his items. clearly he had the receipt showing him otherwise. what is the deal is everyone that uses that store a thief or are they stereotyping. I'm not quite sure and I don't really care at this point. all I know is I will never walk in that store again ever and they got a lot of my business a lot of my daughter-in-laws a lot of my sons now they get nothing they are horrible horrible judgmental people working there and I for one have enough of that in my life I don't need my favorite store doing the same. So before you use again Dollar General on the plains ask yourself if you want to be looked at as a criminal before doing so

Stopped into The Plains store today about 5pm. Dom I think his name was is a very good employee. He said hello when I entered with a smile on his face. When I asked where the item I was looking for was he took me right to where it was. Very pleasant young man! You are lucky to have such an employee.

Not the most friendliest staff but they do have the basic necessities.Update: The staff has become much friendlier! I wanted to update my review because the atmosphere has improved greatly. Still takes forever to check out though.Update 2: The installation of a self checkout kiosk is a significant improvement! If only they'd have a slightly better selection of refrigerated coffee creamer. :)

The staff is the best part. Most employees are very friendly, outgoing and happy to assist you. The selecting is better than family dollar, however your coupons do not always come off automatically. I always plan trips ahead and spend the time to download digital coupons, the least they can do is honor them.

This particular Dollar General in my opinion is a good place to go to pick up just about anything you would need. My experience here was great, i found everything i was looking for from dog food to a gallon of milk. Also picked up some everyday cleaning supplies and some de con to try and get rid of some mice who are trying to make a home in my home, lol. The staff was very nice, the place was clean and for as busy as they were on this particular day the service was pretty fast. I would recommend the Plains Dollar General to my family and friends anytime...

So glad the store is back. I think one of the staff members is really unperfesional. She has long black hair and glasses can't miss ms attitude. Other then her nice place

Some may think that a Dollar General is the same no matter the same town it may call home. This simply isn't true. This Dollar General in The Plains offers a wide selection of goods, with a large clearance section. There is a freezer section which offers a limited selection of frozen snacks, milk, butter, and eggs. My only complaint is that sometimes this Dollar General is a little disorderly, so it can be tough to find a particular item at times.

They were out of Bounty Essentials paper towels. Their chip reader was malfunctioning. The clerk/cashier was friendly and efficient.

The check out line was outrageous. The line went half way through the store. After 20 minutes someone finally came to help the cashier. Both registers should have been open the whole time.

Staff is very rude. I have seen a cashier line with 15 people waiting and they still didn't open second register. I have seen this happen more than a few times. In fact, I have never seen both registers in use at the same time.

They are not the friendliest people. the plastic bags are cheap. By the time I get home, the bag busts and I have to carry them in. They need to double bag things and they know which items need double bagging.

The on duty manager stood gabbing away with a friend while one cashier handled a line wrapped around a corner. I only knew she was management because she complained about "her cashiers" losing pens...again, while totally ignoring a massive line of people waiting to check out. Next time I'll drive into Athens to buy something. It would probably take less time.

play Pet price gouging on Benadryl medication pulling Benadryl medication from from shelves that cost $1 for 100 and only stocking medication the same medication that cost 20 times the amount per pill a pack of 24 for $6 I am very disappointed with the actions of the manager David.and offended!

This store is awful , the manager Shelly is slower than a snail and is rude . There is always a line through the store , with one register open . Never 2 and she refuses to open up another line . This is not the first time I've experienced this service .I will not shop here again .
