So this place is an absolute gem. Its quite and secluded, and the view is spectacular; nothing but trees and water, and the sunrises and sunsets are awesome. You also have the barges that run up and down the river several times a day that simply make the experience and view that much better, and the people that run this place are absolutely wonderful. It’s family owned and operated, which we love. We stayed for 4 nights and it was one of our best vacations ever.Love this place.

This is such a special place! We stopped at Sandy Springs for two nights on our way bicycling down the Ohio River. Everything everyone says about this family-run campground is true. The River Cabin is super cozy and clean, the view of the river is incredible, and the Wangler family is made up of the most personable and helpful folks ever! We were happy to discover wifi, an electric grill, hot plate, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and refrigerator in the cabin, along with all the dishes, pots and pans and basics needed to cook. I sure hope we get to come back here again someday.

Very quiet and clean campground. Owners are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the river cabin in May with our adult children and grandchildren camping in their campers. Wonderful playground for the children and special activities for them as well. Then in June my husband and I rented the river cabin again for our 41st wedding anniversary. The cabin is newly renovated and so cozy. Highly recommend this special place on our Ohio river!

We rented the Mama Bear camper for a long weekend. We enjoyed it so much that we stayed an extra night! It was perfect! Great A/C, spotlessly clean, quiet, peaceful, roomy, well stocked, and every little detail was thoughtfully provided, down to a vase for flowers & an outdoor tablecloth for the table on the deck out front!Julie, Darcy, Ann & Bill were amazing hosts & so friendly & helpful! We enjoyed the activities & the band Saturday night. The shower house was clean & we liked the large private rooms with fans to cool off. Nice, well stocked camp store, cute playground, large pavilion & beautiful views of the Ohio River! We can't wait to come back this fall! Thanks for everything! Pam & Larry K. & Chloe, too :)

Spent weekend in the boathouse cabin with my family. Loved every minute there. It had everything you need to cook with pots pans cups plates silverware The beds were comfortable . We even had a tiny bit useful bathroom and shower. It was a unique experience that our daughter had been looking forward to and didn't disappoint. I love to watch the Barges going down the river . Also shout out to the Wangers for taking such good care of their campers .

Great Ohio River RV sites, worth the extra money for the awesome view. Peaceful place to relax and enjoy time off. Fun Amish bulk stores for your shopping spice frenzy!! Watching the barges and a nice fire pit to end the day! The staff working constantly to make the place clean and prepared for the next camper!Fabulous staff!!Far drive for us but we hope to be back!!

What a wonderful place to stay. Our cabin was clean and very orderly. The surrounding campsites are well kept. Very nice playground for the kids. Shower houses and bathroom always kept clean. Love the access of the fans to use when you step outside of a shower! Great touch!Watch for "Ray" the cat! He is like the welcome wagon to your assigned place. So sweet, adorable, and appreciates the attention.Enjoyed our getaway! We will spread the word on such a gem! Thank you! The Cavanaugh's

One of the best places we've camped all summer! We are a family of three adults, a dog, with a pop-up-camper. The campsite was spacious with more than enough grassy area for our dog. The sites are level. We had a river site, and the view of the Ohio River was spectacular! It was cool seeing barges go up and down the river, especially at night. It is an extremely well run campground, and the owner and staff were are very friendly and conscientious. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained (which was important to my wife and daughter). There is a playground, open-seat kayak rentals, and paddle boards. The camp store seemed to be well stocked. On the way home, we booked another trip for this year there and one (so far) for next year. The campgrounds, the location, and the people are what make a camping experience enjoyable. You can't go wrong at Sandy Springs.

The campground is clean and well maintained. They have added alot of full hookup sites and all hookups are convenient and easy to use.The view of the Ohio River is outstanding! So peaceful and tranquil.Julie and family are just the nicest and most helpful people. We really enjoyed our conversations with the dad who runs around on his golf cart checking to make sure all is well.The wood they sell is good splits, not the cheap slab bark with a little wood attached.I honestly have not found anything negative.We just scheduled another visit this fall.Thank you Julie for a wonderful weekend!

Sits right on the bank of the Ohio River. This campground is hidden gem. About 40 sites, full hookup. Site 1-8 are have the River front view are 5-star sites. Any site would be worth the stay.If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful and relaxing campground this is the place to go. Family friendly, family owned AND open for reservations year round.There is a small playground, convenient office store, boat ramp, River bank fishing, and a Nature Preserve hiking directly across from the campground entrance.

My family and I stay here every year in one of the RV/campers. I really can't say enough good about this place. We decided several years ago to opt for this location instead of the high costs of other hotel/lodge options around rundown Portsmouth, Ohio. Everyone is super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Campers are clean and safe. We'll be back again next year!

This is the first time camping at Sandy Springs. The campground is nice quiet and relaxing. That's exactly what our family was looking for!!! We also love fishing and we were able to do so without leaving the campgrounds. The Owners were very kind and welcoming. I will definitely be recommending this camp to all my family and friends. Love this place. I've been meaning to get back down there to get away from the craziness of the city. It's a very peaceful, beautiful, clean family-owned campground. The showers were clean and the water was hot. The location is in the stunning rolling hills of southern Ohio right along the Ohio River. The owners are very friendly and will make you feel right at home!

Can't say enough good things about this quaint little campground. Located right on the Ohio River, it's a perfect getaway. We stayed in the cabin. It was very clean and comfortable. The decor was so pretty & welcoming. Little extras like the porch is awesome too, picnic table & a swing facing the river was super relaxing. Mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, gas grill, air conditioning and many other extras. The large private bathrooms & hot showers were greatly appreciated as well. They have a nice pavillion and play area for the kids to enjoy. This is not your average seasonal trailer park, it's small so you won't be overcrowded with other campers. You can park your camper, pitch your tent or rent one of their trailers by the night, week or month. Prices are very reasonable too. The owners made us feel at home and like family. If you enjoy camping at a peaceful place, Sandy Springs Campground is for you. Thanks again for everything Julie, Darcy, Anna, Bob & young Daniel for making us feel so much at home.

Here is our experience at the campsite this memorial weekend 2021. It was absolutely beautiful, quiet, the staff and owners are absolutely nice and friendly! We truely loved our stay and will be back Labor Day weekend! Julie and Darcy and their family are great people! Sandy Springs Campground is a peaceful haven, thanks to the hard, dedicated work of the owners/staff. They are very welcoming, and family-friendly and strive to provide a wonderful experience for their campers. The grounds and facilities are extremely well-maintained. Prices are very affordable.The owners have worked very hard fto build what they have, how dare anyone write a negative review when they didn't even stay at the campground. Clearly that party was turned away for good reason!

We spent three nights here in Nov 2021 at a site down on the river. Magical. Yes we could hear the train on the other side of the Ohio River and the barges that might go by in the night but this just added to the ambiance. Like a step back in time. Family owned and everyone was very pleasant and helpful. We were n a 30' Motorhome. I highly recommend Sandy Springs Campground.

Beautiful and well maintained park right on the Ohio river. Great place to come to get away from the crazy world we are in right now. Buckeyes Dairy Bar is a short 10 miles away and good for ice cream and mini golf. Grocery store in Portsmouth is 17 miles or so. If we ever come back this way, we will stay again.

We found this campground to be well kept and peaceful with a beautiful view. There were so many good sites for tent campers that we had trouble choosing! The owner gave us lots of suggestions and helped us narrow it down to the perfect spot for us. The owners are very nice, friendly and helpful. You can tell that they truly care and want you to have a wonderful experience. We are planning to visit again for the fall colors. Can't wait!

Best campground, ever! I'm a seasonal camper here and park my camper here year round. This is a well-run campground and a family business. I recommend it to all my friends and I meet up with camping friends here on a regular basis. Great river-front view and very peaceful. Shawnee State Park with great hiking is nearby. Wonderful place to relax and watch barges meander by. Security is very good here as the owners keep a sharp eye on the property. The owners are super friendly and often stop by to chat. It's like a family here. You won't be sorry if you spend time here!
