I adopted a kitten last Saturday the 7 of Jan.The staff was great, very nice places for pets to hide, play, and sleep. The only reason for 3 stars is only because we took the kitten home sick. Had to take him to urgent care. Severe Upper Respiratory infection. Because he had his first shots I thought he could not catch any bugs. I realize that this place is fund by donation but it would be nice to get some help when you are expecting a well pet.He is on the mend. It was a very expensive adoption.

Biased because I am a volunteer. But you need to visit on Wednesdays or Saturdays to see this place. The volunteers walk the dogs, or groom and socialize the kittens and cats. It's the socialization that helps them become more likely to warm up to potential adopters.

We didn't get to visit the inside because they were closed. We did get to see a few dogs that were outside in their pens, though. The place seems really nice and well-maintained. I also got to visit a pet cemetery for the first time in my life. It was very sweet.

Oh my goodness, I rolled in there about 10 after 2:00 to Saturday afternoon. The lady that operates the place was just coming out to leave. She turned around and went back in just so I could get my certificate to get my dog neutered. I have to give her a 100%. Thank you. You didn't have to do that and you did. Thank you so much!

Awesome place! The animals are definitely well taken care of and they keep it clean for the animals as well! The certificates for low cost spay and neutered are well worth the 15$ a year membership fee!

Good Heavens, I cannot say enough about these volunteers and this shelter. Best shelter I have ever been to. Adopted two kittens last year and couldn't be any happier with our little fellows. So clean, so much attention to the animals, and such helpful staff. Thank you!

Please support this well run and managed local organization! The astronomical savings of taxpayer funds this nonprofit provides to Clark County are under recognized. This decades old local charity relieves a huge burden off of the county funded dog warden. They provide shelter to 100's of Clark county's homeless, abandoned, neglected and abused dogs and cats. Many of these animals require medical treatment due to human neglect. These animals would have most likely otherwise ended up in the county dog pound. The animal welfare league is a private nonprofit that is NOT government funded. They rely on donations, estate bequeaths, fundraising and their local thrift store revenue to support the shelter operations. This no-kill shelter, which supporters have affectionately renamed "the farm" provides loving care, training, socialization, medical care, spay and neutering, grooming and more. The goal is to adopt to loving forever homes. There is a great variety of adoptable cats and dogs waiting to meet you. There is something for everyone. The farm staff and volunteers are very helpful, knowledgeable and dedicated to helping you find your match. The AWL charges a very nominal adoption fee typically under $100 (in most cases) which includes vaccination, heartworm testing, 1yr heartworm prevention, spay/neuter and microchip.

I am so pleased with the Animal Welfare League. I adopted a sweet shy little female Yorkie/ShihTsu. During the 7 weeks that I have had her we have an unbreakable bond. She is so smart and special to me.The Staff do a very though job to make sure the pet is going to a safe and loveable home. I would highly recommend the Animal Welfare League to anyone looking for their forever friend!

An unusual and unique private animal rescue shelter in Clark County (Springfield, near Dayton), we found this when searching for a new dog last year. It is located on a little farm outside the city, rolling hills and very charming (yet update and the equal of any of our big city shelters here). The dogs and cats have separate buildings; the cats have a very home-like set-up complete with couches! There is also a very touching pet cemetery dating back to the 1950s. (If it was closer to us, I'd love to have this as my pet's final resting place.) The volunteers here are so kind and personal. It is a NO KILL shelter that gives the animals a lot of time to find new homes....and if not, they are kept as long as they live. If only every shelter were this compassionate! It is easy to confuse this shelter (Animal Welfare League) with the public shelter called Clark County HUMANE Society. They are not the same! Please check name and address carefully. The AWL is on Willow Dale Road.Even if you are not presently adopting, it is worth a visit to see the dogs and cats. Please note they have very limited hours, only a few hours and twice a week. Highly recommended!

Wonderful well maintained facility with loving caregivers. I visited to potentially adopt a cat and found four tiger tabbys I was drawn to. Unfortunately, I had previously met another kitty from a different rescue agency and decided to take her instead, only because she seemed to need a new home the most...it was a very tough decision. Had I not chosen her, Marcus, the grey tabby male (4 year old adult) would have been my next choice; he voluntarily climbed into my lap and stayed there awhile as I petted him. He is super sweet and friendly; I so hope someone else will choose him soon as he has been there for most of his life.

I got instructions over the phone from Libby on how to complete the application process. She was very polite and clear on what documents and requirements that had to be completed before the adoption could be approved. When we arrived at the facility we was happy to see all the volunteers walking the dogs. The property was beautiful and the staff and animals both seemed happy. We was greeted and Cathy helped us look for a dog that would fit our lifestyle. We submitted our application and after it was reviewed and approved they gave us all the information they had about our dog. Theres not always alot of info known in some cases. Libby helped me get my doggy's vet info to relay to my new vet. The staff was conciderate in not shaming owners that voluntered surrendering their animals to the shelter. I respected that they werent shaming. I like this place and recomend it anyone concidering adopting.

I got my voucher for my dog to get spaded there and it was more than half price if I went to the vet and paid for it. All the dogs were being walked when I went there so they're very well taken care of.

They housed our three dogs while we were in an emergency shelter. They got our dogs fixed and all their shots. Everytime we would ask about them we got prompt answers and they took excellent care of our babies!!!!! I will be going back to adopt a few of their cats they have!!!!

They're only open 2days a week for a combined total of 5 hours. You really have to plan ahead if you want to adopt. No spur of the moment adoptions here. Gotta love the work they do though. Just wish they're hours were more practical

If you live in Clark county ohio, and have pets that you want to get spayed or neutered, then this is the place to go to save you some money. By buying the surgery here, you could save over $100.00 versus the full surgery price at your local vet.
