Four stars for now, going this weekend to check out the dog wash they have there, seems a good price for the service and all the supplies appear to be provided. Will let you know in update. Staff was really nice and eager to help. Keep up the good work ladies. The young man explained the price and all that it was included. Found it humorous that if you have a animal that got sprayed by a skunk, can only come in after 7:30 I think it was. O I can understand the reasoning. Lol

The fish they have, nearly all of them look sick or in distress. The worker rushed me the entire time I was trying to shop for fish, finally I just chose 2 fish, I waited up front as she bagged my fish, as I’m paying somebody comes in to bathe their dog and the worker starts complaining about “now I have to clean that” when I got my fish home, I realized his fins were damaged, which I’m certain they weren’t when I told her which one I wanted. Awful experience

Came in to use the dog wash and found out they had a groomer on site. The groomer, Katelyn, took my great dane right in and groomed him for me🙌 saved me a lot of time and headache trying to bathe my gentle giant myself. AND she did a much better job than I would have! Dog looks and smells fantastic! She even gave him a bandana! I LOVED that she was able to get him right in! Our normal groomer requires appointments and is booked weeks out which doesn't help when you want your dog groomed before company coming over. Will definitely be coming back!!!!

Never had an issue with the service or help to find what I was looking for with dogs and cat. Was last in about a week ago and the place was hopping with dog wash filled and register person telling me about the new dog treats. Our kids love this store and will be in today possibly for a new species.

Never been in, probably won't. I called about an issue with a stray cat. No call back, no nothing to help decide what to do. This was after I made aware that one of the Sanctuaries were going to contact them & get this cat some help right away....that was 3 days ago. (The Sanctuary deals with Chow Hound and has people that can help these strays). I'm left wondering what to do now, as I cannot afford a vet bill, the cat isn't mine, I just don't want it to suffer all winter, with fleas, ticks, either ear mites or ear infection or both. Frustrated!

Brought my border collie in for a haircut/grooming and the lady did a horrible job it was very patchy. One spot on his chest was shaven completely down wayyy to short and then other spots on his back were way longer than others and his butt and in between his legs were barely touched and there are still full length patches of hair on those areas. Very bad grooming service and when my wife complained they offered to try and fix it but my wife felt better doing the rest ourselves. They also tried to tell my wife it was because my dog had cowlicks but I can tell you that when I saw my dog that it was a horrible job done by someone who was inexperienced or just didn’t care👎

I'm so upset that Chow Hounds has hired an inexperienced groomer. My dog looks terrible! Chopped is more like it. Bare spots and patches of hair missing, no tapering of his hair. He even had dirt on his skin all over. I paid $45.00 more to have my dog butchered. 😡 You'd think the store manager would at least apologize for it!

Service here is just awful. Been here 2 times, wasn't sure if I wanted to return after first time. First time, the one salesperson/cashier ignored me for about 10 minutes waiting in line, while she chatted with a State of OH wildlife worker about her own cat being bit by a snake. Second time, 2 salespeople in store, one decided to join the second one in the aisle just as I got to the register. Again. Don't ask me if I want a rewards card, I won't be returning. You don't value your customers, I am sure you can do just fine without them.

Just stopped in here to look at fish and supplies. Hadn't been here before and thought we'd just have a look. In 5 minutes we decided we'll never come back. Walked in and there was a customer waiting at the register and no employee. Walked to the back and one lady was removing dead fish while the other was sitting on the floor in the back doing something. Informed them that someone was up front and got an oh ok and they continued what they were doing. We started looking at the fish and the next thing my wife feels is water and gravel hit her from the girl removing dead fish. No sorry or oops my bad. Just on to the next tank. Still no one heading up front to help a customer. Forget this and we left. Walk by the register and the customer left what they were trying to buy. One of the worst pet stores we've ever been to and we travel all over to different pet stores in Ohio. I wish i could give them 0 stars.

My husband and I went into Chow Hounds because we like to visit pet stores all over Ohio. As we walked in someone was waiting to checkout, so I let the 2 employees know someone was waiting at the register to checkout, they looked at us and said ok and continued to do what they were doing. One employee was removing dead fish from the tanks and the other was sitting on the floor in the back room. Due to letting them know someone was waiting to checkout, one employee got irritated and flung gravel and water on me from the tank she was removing dead fish from. We will never go back there and it's one place that has the worst customer service I've ever seen.

I bought a hamster for my daughter an not even having him for 5 weeks he had pasted away! I spent a lot to have that hamster in a good environment an he was sick when I bought him! It saddens me that they tell you not to house them together bc of illnesses but theirs are housed together an now my daughters first pet past bc of his illness! Very sad never again will I go here!

Brought my dog in for grooming service and when I picked him up he looked terrible & CHOPPED! Groomer said she would try to “fix” it but I was afraid it would just be much worse. Honestly could’ve done a better job at home!! Employees haven’t learned decent customer service and tried to give me attitude when I told them I didn’t like the cut.

I’ve been in a few times and the selection is okay, but I would say on the lower end for quality with their dog items. The staff isn’t friendly though so it really isn’t worth the trip from Troy when you could drive 10 more minutes and hit the stores in Beavercreek.
