I decided to go to the Humane society for another fur baby...and I'm so glad I did...I wanted an older cat..they had a few to pick from...I fell in love with all of them...the staff was so caring..and helped me.. finally chose Pearl..so loving...it's been less than a week but we already have a routine...I just wish more people would adopt these poor babies...

I only have experience with the website so my comments are are limited to it alone. Post the cost of adoption! I know these animals are not, but should be low priced. I am not going to look for a pet without knowing the cost. My last pet was from a rescue that spay/neuter, shots and microchiped, etc. and I only had to reimburse them for that. But I knew beforehand. Please post your adoption fees!

Lady on the phone was VERY rude. I called to inquire about open kennel space, and her snarky response was "Obviously not, since our building was flooded." How was I supposed to know that when I'm not from the Sandusky area? Bad attitude all around.

Super nice staff. Very clean, soon-to-be-pets interact well with staff. You can tell they really care. I adopted my beautiful cat, Claire, there, and she has been a delightful addition to my life. Adopt your loving ❤️ pet!P.S. They are a no kill shelter, very important to me. So, adopt your new friend so they can help more animals find their forever homes. ❤🏘

I've adopted 2 dogs from here now and they were both in good health and well taken care of. Both were up to date on shots, spayed, and dewormed before adoption. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

Great shelter! Staff was friendly and very helpful. Facility was spotless. I expected a "smell" - especially in a room full of cats/kittens but there was no odor whatsoever. They obviously put a lot of effort into keeping the shelter clean and it shows!

Director Melissa and her crew are wonderful people. Jacob and Marissa are great. I adopted my dog from the Erie County Humane Society. And the people there could not have been more compassionate and helpful. They run a clean operation. True animal lovers. Everything they do is with detail and the chair. And there are a wonderful array of pets waiting for a permanent home. I encourage anyone that wants to adopt to visit Erie County Humane Society.

I adopted a beautiful shy black cat that lived there over 2 years. I have her medical records to prove it. Read the other review...definitely not a high kill shelter sir. Cages are cleaned daily, they have their own personal boxes with blankets and toys. The staff knows all the cats personalities. Wonderful place!

This is a great animal shelter. I am adopting two cats from here and the shelter people were quite nice. The way the shelter is set up is that when you walk in, there’s a desk where people process and give you paperwork. To the left of that is a hallway with a bunch of rooms filled with animals. I went to the kitten room, which is the first room on the right. All of the walls in that room were lined with caves with kittens inside. When you’re in the room, the shelter people let you open a cage and take out the cat inside. However, you can only take out one cat at a time. When you are picking out cats, the shelter people aren’t in the room with you, thus leaving you to your own devices. After I looked at cats for a while, I left the room and got some informational paperwork about cats from the desk in the main area. After receiving that paperwork, I left the shelter and drove away. I gave this shelter five stars because I received good service. It’s also located near roads US 6 and OH 101, which is convenient. However, you have to get off of those roads and drive through and industrial park to get to the shelter, which takes you in a big loop. The road in the industrial park isn’t maintained that well either.

Extremely modern facilities. The building was sparkling clean and the animals all looked well cared for. For such a small staff they are doing amazing work.

I adopted ( Sweet Pea ) I named her Daisy. I took her to my vet in Vermilion Ohio. For 3 months I had her and was told she had Kennel cough when I adopted her. Turned out after 4 visits to the vet and 5 antibiotics that she may have feline Herpes. The symptoms are like a horrible sinus infection. The day we looked at her she was fine. Two days later the day of adopting her we were told she had kennel cough. I took her to my vet and was never able to get her better. I want people to know she is the most adorable cat I have owned. However the Human society needs to be honest and disclose this to whomever may adopt her. I have all her records to prove that I am telling the truth. She may never get over the symptoms. She is adorable and was very much loved by us. The humane is rude for not disclosing that they were giving us a sick incurable cat. June 22nd 2019. Shane.

We got both of our sweet kitties here. It’s very clean and the people were nice. The silver kitty is Albert, originally named Jekyl and the black one is Morti, originally named Ninja. They’re doing very well.

I would like to highly recommend adopting an animal from 🐾 Erie County Humane Society!!Marissa had called me to confirm I was coming to look at Bessie and other puppies. I’m from the Toledo area (Rossford) it was almost an hour trip each way. When I arrived a little late Bessie was there waiting for me!!🐶 Marissa told me what a sweet little girl she was so I took Marissa’s word and adopted her!! 🐶🐾OMG she was so right. This little girl is such a blessing she has slept all night long from the first night she came home😊.We have been working on house breaking and she has only had 5 accidents in the house!!! This is so awesome 🤩 I have only had her for 9 days.We are also working on commands like sit, lay, stay and she is catching on so fast!! .I want to thank Marissa so much for helping me pick out my puppy!!! I don’t know you but I can tell you and your staff there take great care of the fur babies coming through your door. God bless 🐾 Angie & Bessie Gilreath 🐶

I enjoy their non kill policy. I enjoy donating items like bleach, Odoban, clumping kitty litter. A treat for the cats is to donate a container of Temptations. They also need decent towels. Of course. Food. I've gotten one of my dogs here. Please help. I have great respect for our Humane Society .

I've just recently adopted 2 kitties from this shelter. Though the application is intense, they want to ensure pets are going to the best owners possible. The workers are friendly, responsive, and reasonable, and they were understanding when I couldn't come pick my cats up on the originally planned day when I came down with the flu. They even have you sign a form that ensures you will take your cats to the vet within 12 days of ownership; that level of follow-up and care for animals is what helps empty shelters, and get pets into happy, loving homes!

This place is absolutely amazing. They have such wonderful furry friends and helped us add a wonderful new addition to our family. Everyone here is so caring and helpful in finding so many animals find their forever homes. They are so full of joy from the sclecond you go in to the second you leave! Would definitely recommend finding your next furry friend here!

First, we are very happy with our new fur baby. He's a happy and quirky tuxedo kitten that fits in perfect with our family. The positives of the Erie County Humane Society is the staff is extremely accommodating and helpful, and they give you as much time as you need to connect with a new fur baby. They even offer the option of stopping back several times if you need to, to find the right pet. The staff also monitors the health of the animals from the neutering surgeries to sniffles! They also seem to know the personalities, likes and dislikes of the adoptees. They even let you know that you can call if you have any questions even after the adoption is done.In my opinion, there are two negatives. The first one is they don't do same-day adoptions and that is very inconvenient for people with Transportation issues. The 2nd negative is the application process. It's very extensive and ask for far too much information, like, what company you have your home insurance through and your agents name and telephone number. There are few more questions that seemed to be a little much. They also require signatures of all the people in your home saying they agree to the adoption. I feel that if I'm the homeowner it's my right to decide if I want to adopt a pet. They also require proof of a veterinarian visit by a certain time frame. Please note that the negatives I have mentioned have no reflection on the employee's as they are required to follow through with the policies.

This place is great!!! We were given a tour of the dog area. The whole place smelled and looked clean. The dogs looked happy. The woman (vet or vet tech) who showed us around was very welcoming and informative. Thank you for all you guys do 😀

Alot of rude workers there I went two days in a row the first day I went to look at all the adoptable kitties the lady at the front was rude then the next day I went to adopt a cat which to find out he was adopted earlier that day I only liked two of them and the other one was back in quarantine for ringworm. I told them those were the only ones I liked so when me and the people who came with me went to leave she asked where my application was and told her I only wanted the two and they weren't available so I would look at another shelter she acted mad and we go to walk out then asks me very rudely how old I was so I said I'll be 23 this month then she makes a face and was like well you looked like you were in junior high. Honestly you guys need new friendly workers there remember your working with animals AND people.

Me and my dad volontered there and the dogs were amazing and they put 2 puppies that we fell in love with down for kennel cough🙄 we would have paid for there vet bill and would have fostered them but they didn’t tell anybody or ask for any help. And they were so loving and sweet and it was right before Christmas. The only thing I liked there are the dogs. And the people there show little respect towards the dogs this one guy yanked a dog out of its cage because he was to scared to move
