This place is awesome. Lots of cool stuff. A little expensive but you should know that going in. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Now let's get to the part that is really cool and the kids will love it. The rock walls. If you have a couple hrs of free time with the kids give this place a shot.

I come here periodically, it's a great place for outdoor-minded people. They always have a good variety of equipment/gear and the staff gives very good advice for both beginners/casuals and very experienced folk. It's also a fantastic resource for those experiencing the national park.Recently, I was here and they were playing music throughout the store that was sonically fine, but lyrically explicit (uncensored F-bombs). This detracted from my experience at the store and was an unprofessional practice. It would be greatly appreciated if this music were vetted. This would make for a better store experience for people of all backgrounds.

I bought a pair of climbing shoes online from them and I had to pay $10 to get them shipped. Unfortunately, I got them and they didn’t fit. And then I wanted to send them back but they wanted me to pay the return shipping. Another $10. Real bummer that I had to pay $20 to try on a pair shoes. I get that these small guys are trying to make a living but if I would’ve ordered them from Amazon, which I didn’t want to do, I would’ve gotten free shipping and free return. I called and tried to work something out and they said sorry we can’t help you. Can’t really justify ordering things that might not fit like climbing shoes that vary on size from brand to brand from these guys. Wish they could’ve worked with me a little bit more, but since they didn’t, I wont be buying anything from them again.

This place is a hidden gem. I’ve driven by it every time I’m hiking in Cuyahoga and avoided it so I didn’t spend any money. This time I went in and couldn’t help myself.The staff were amazing. They will hold genuine conversations with you. You can tell they liked working there. This store has a lot of my favorite brands that you never see in stores. Gransfors Bruks, Hilleberg, and much more.

I bring my son and his friends to climb at their Kendall Cliffs facility all the time and go over to their Appalachian Outfitters to shop while the kids are occupied. I discovered that the Outfitter store is a Yakima authorized dealer for rooftop storage carriers, so I was excited to go see what they had at the store and see which box would work out on my SUV as far as size. I believe in supporting my local businesses but these owners won’t price match their products online and won’t even let customer to take these rooftop carriers out to try on for fitment on their vehicles before buying. The staff in the store were nice but the owner’s restrictions towards their customers are ridiculous. Therefore, I ordered the same roof box for less money online with free shipping. I will not buy a thing from the store any longer.

Lots of amazing backpacking choices! Everything to outfit your backcountry trip. I deducted a star bc the whole time I was upstairs I didn’t have anyone approach me for help with fitting packs or buying gear. Most everyone was downstairs working—which was fine. They just could’ve sold me a backpack that day but I decided to wait. :) Probably like most places and short on employees. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase from here bc they carry quality stuff.

Top quality outdoor gear. Clearance area is affordable. The shoe department has great hiking shoes. Trekking poles for almost 200.00 though.

Visiting the national park and came across this store after a great hike at the ledges. We were promptly asked if we needed any assistance and stated that we were just looking. The sales girl immediately checks the antitheft door sensor and states “just checking to make sure they were still working”. Obviously to make us aware of it.I have never stolen and make way more than six figures and have no reason to. It was clearly a statement made on racial bias which my white companion also quickly noted. We left!Bottom line: your employees could use racial bias education if you so feel that your customer base should not be limited.

Tons of cute outdoor wear, and an amazing dog section! Not cheap, but everything for sale is really high quality, so the price point is to be expected. I will definitely be back!

They do a good business.Staff were very helpful and also provided plenty of space to browse without feeling pressured. Great selection of gear. Came in looking for new insoles and ended up buying a pair after some thorough help and information from the staff.Worth the drive south from Cle and a great pit stop before heading out into the woods.

Nice store for outdoors gear and clothing. First day of Boy Scout Summer Camp at Camp Manatoc so I took a ride up the hill to Appalachian Outfitters for some new hiking shoes. Zach was extremely knowledgeable an set me up with a nice pair of Keens.

This place was amazing. I didn't even know the area had anything like this. The rock climbing was awesome. Great prices and extremely friendly staff. They were helpful and went above and beyond to assist the group I came in with. They have good specials as well. Make sure to check out the days discounts happen.

this place is great for finding adventure clothes that you would normally only find online. its very clean and organized by brands. employees are friendly and polite. although i havnt used it, i do like that they have a climbing wall in the building as well.

What an amazing experience! I had never been here before and met my dad to find some pants for our hiking trip. Every single employee who worked here was so kind and helpful. I really didn't feel intimidated at all, sometimes you go into specialty stores and can feel a little out of place... That's not what happened here! I will definitely be back here for all of my camping and hiking needs.Also, if you're looking for zip off pants I highly recommend looking at the men's Columbia section! I found some with so many pockets and they fit wonderfully!

LOVE this store! I had never been until this year and I’ll never go anywhere else! I bought one pair of hiking boots earlier this year and I just bought another pair for work this month! All of their merchandise is awesome quality, too. I started a new job and searched EVERYWHERE for women’s outdoor work pants and this was the only place I could find them, lots of options too! The people there were so friendly and helpful as well! It is much appreciated especially in hard times!

Want to warn people against buying axes from Appalachian Outfitters.My mother bought me the anniversary Hults Bruk hatchet from them for Christmas, and upon opening the box I found it without its original package and with a blade chip and handle flaw.I’m guessing it was a return they then sent me, but because it was purchased more than 30 days ago they said i can not return it and there is nothing they will do to make it right. For a $180 hatchet, I’m beyond unhappy about their lack of customer service and willingness to send flawed product at full price.Stay away, buy direct from the manufacturers.
