Vera cares about her rescue dogs she just doesn't happen to be a people person. She has seen too much abuse and suffering with her dogs. She will not turn over a dog to just anyone, she looks for the best match up. This is all volunteer and run by donations. She has helped countless people and š dogs find their furever home. Vera picks up Vet costs to help all her incoming dogs. Its very sad and emotional seeing the condition of some of these dogs coming into Oasis and shelters everywhere.

We adopted a dog 6 months ago from Elyria pound. The dog had no history, it was found tied up at an abandoned house. He was great with my fiancĆ© and two sons, but was always scared of me or any other male figure, especially when alone. We worked with him for the last 6 months and house training, and trying to show him he has a welcoming and nice family. The bathroom in the house persisted and then he started to chew on my sons toys, clawing at doors, and things of that nature. We just felt that he needed someone who had more time to focus and deviate to him, and perhaps less people around. Contacted Vera to surrender the dog, and upon dropping the animal off she had the nerve to tell me ādonāt get any more petsāLike she has the right to tell others what to do. We have had several successful dogs through adoption over the years, this is the first time we had to resurrender an animal, and we did what we felt was best for him. Donāt take your animal here unless you want to be treated like scum by the lady who operates things.

Responding LATE to a review from a year agoā¦..Vera certainly IS a āpeople personā if you are a person she trusts to love her dogs. I love Vera, and have loved two dogs from OASIS.

I surrendered my dog to the county kennel in a moment of distress. I have a chronic illness. I reconsidered the same day but Oasis had already picked up my dog and said I had to work it out with him. I had a conversation by email detailing things that might ease the dogs discomfort. My husband called the next day and inquired on getting our dog back, as the entire family was in distress over missing our dog. I went to the Four Legged Cafe to ask about the dog since she was posted as available for adoption on their facebook page. I was met with hostility and verbal abuse. When I came home, we received a call threatening legal action if we called, emailed, visited or shared on social media. This lady did not even want to hear my story and didn't have any understanding on what it was like to care for pets you love and endure chronic illness. This was the most unsympathetic and rudest person I have ever met. I just wanted to ask for a way to work out my dog coming home to our family.

The previous owner of my Cattle Dog surrendered my dog to this group. They promptly contacted a breed specific rescue to help him find his forever home. Taking his breed into consideration, I think they took exactly the right course of action. My dog isn't for novice or even some experienced pet owners. What he needed is a breed savvy group to find him a home. Even though my dealing with OASIS is secondary, they did the right thing by my dog and I am grateful for it.

THESE POOR ANIMALS! Our unfortunate First experience with trying to save an animal within our loving home. Vera is the RUDEST, BITTER, most CONDESCENDING "animal care taker" you will Ever meet! I would say RUN from here because unfortunately, you'll Never get to save a dog from here. It is filthy/disgusting, at its best. It's pretty sad when the "Animal Rescue Community" knows about this evil Cruella Deville and deters you from Ever going there, for sheer avoidance of being suscepted to her abusive ways. How can some one thrive through life like this? My prayers are with the dogs.

Wow. Where is the humane society? This place is bad news for any living creature. The person in charge could use some personality training. That place is down right wrong.
