We didn't have any problems with their policy to adopt. They followed the same standards as a rescue group that we used. The facility was very clean and the people are caring. I felt the fees were reasonable considering the medical services that they also supplied.

Place is nice. But adoption fees are high. They also go beyond someone’s personal privacy by calling landlords and etc. also they wanted my dogs vets name on the app. They didn’t ask permission to call them. They don’t need all of this information to adopt a pet, when I’m putting up high enough money for adoption. Seems crooked and sketchy to me. I’ve decided to not go through the adoption. Stay away from here. Go to a dog warden or your local animal shelter. I am not happy with this place at all. Invading someone’s privacy at every corner without permission. Get rid of those stupid applications too.

I got denied for a dog. They made the decision on a application without even meeting us . I don't think they care about finding them a good home they just want your money. You can't tell if a person will be a good pet owner by a paper application. If I could give them no stars I would. They always say we have them spayed and Neutered.but I hard they get a deal on that and vet care and rest they pocket.

I have gotten two dogs, two cats, and a guinea pig from here. They are a great not for profit place to get pets that are up to date on shots and neutered or spayed for a really good price. You can find purebreds and puppies here as well. One dog I adopted was a pug, and one was a puggle.

Love this place! They care for the animals as if they were their own pets. Price may seem high up adopt but it includes all shots, microchip and spay/neuter. Animals are cared for amazingly! Clean place! I got my last 2 rescues from them and NO REGRETS!

4-10-21 / We adopted a rescue female dog today. So far so good, every body is getting to know each other.UPDATE 5-16-21Java has been with us a month now and everything is fine. She comes from a breeding back ground (mom) and has showed us she really likes her new home. Java plays like a puppy in the grass and loves our attention. We were worried that her being six years old would be a problem, not so,we are very happy with Java.

I adopted a cat named biscuit. I found the facility to be amazingly clean. The young woman who helped me was wonderfully efficient and helpful. The other thing that amazed me what should I could not smell any pet odor

What a nice facility for animals. Thought was given to designing the best housing for the physical and emotional well-being of their animals. The cats we met were friendly, well adjusted and well cared for. We adopted a new kitty from them and all staff were kind to their animals they care for as well as their human customers. Job well done TCHS!

Very professional and thorough getting through the adoption process. Staff takes many steps and procedures to make sure they are successful adoption. Treated the dogs with unconditional love.

Someone really works hard to keep this place clean!!Kennels are spacious. Pooches are well cared for and ready for adoption.Large variety of breeds. When you adopt the animal has current shots and is spayed or neutered.I so wanted to take one home. Currently price no matter what breed is $195.00.Before you run to pet stores find room in you life for a shelter pooch just waiting for a new home.

We were very pleased with how attentive and knowledgeable the staff was when we adopted. The facility is clean and well maintained. The website is up to date. The best part is that they are open on Sunday!

The experience at Tuscarawas Humane Society was wonderful. The staff is very accommodating and they treat these pets as their own. It was a remarkable experience and an excellent match for us. We adopted Izzy out little Dachshund, about 10 months ago. She's a perfect fit and we love her. Thank you, thank you for your kindness!

We traveled 2 hours to meet our puppy. When we got there, I noticed she was holding her back leg up. I talked to the staff there and they weren’t really interested. One girl said she wasn’t a vet so she wasn’t going to touch the dog. They also said she never favored that leg before. I asked if their vet could check her before we took her home. A week later we came and got her after a supposed clean bill of health from their vet - we were told there was 100% nothing wrong with her leg. Once we got her home, she began holding the leg up again. Took her to the vet and discovered our pup had a broken leg that no one attended to and so, healed incorrectly. I don’t believe this happened at the shelter, but my vet said there was no way a vet could have missed the fact that her leg had been broken and healed 1 inch shorter than the other. The shelter also didn’t know how much food the puppy was being given each day or anything else about what I asked of the dog. They also brought her into the room absolutely sopping wet and shaking and just off-handedly said, “We have no clue how she got wet.” Overall, the staff showed no concern for the puppy and did not seem to give much time or attention to the animals. I also would not trust them to give accurate health information or breed information. I would not adopt from them ever again.

I adopted a baby kitty from there in December and I LOVE my baby kitty!!! That said, the humain society sent him home with antibiotics for a upper respiratory infection wich i didnt think anything of cus animals get sick just like we do BUT he also came home with TERRIBLE ear mites. His ears were infested with them to the point that when I took him to the vet not only did she give me ear mite medicine but also an antibiotic because his ear mites were so bad. 20 days later I take him back so she could check his ears and after all the ear mite medicine and how bad they were he now has an infection in one of his ears. If you get an animal from there I would DEFINITELY check their ears first!!! After paying the $75 adoption fee, the $98 for the first visit for another antibiotic and ear mite medicine, and yesterday $145 for the ear infection medicine and office visit and culture I felt the need to express the disappointment and frustration iv had. Check your animal thoroughly before adopting them threw the tuscarawas county humane society.

Office girl could use a some etiquette in dealing with public or being asked to explain how "First come first serve and NO HOLDS" policy doesn't include allowing adoption via telephone (which apparently open at 9 FOR adoptions and payments securing a 2 day hold??!) Yet shelter isn't "open" to public until 1. So when we walk in literally at 1 after having sat in the lot, waiting to go into shelter to adopt a specific animal. The female opening the door informs that animal was adopted 10 minutes ago via telephone and on hold for 2 days to be picked up? So I said, "I didn't know that was even option." The OTHER office girl LOUDLY and rather abrasively and rudely says: "YOU DIDN'T NEED TO KNOW THAT!"👀NEVER 👀been treated like this for asking a very valid question about an unknown option? I Will NEVER return or support them based solely on this woman's rude and extremely aggressive response/tone.

We brought a cat to them and explicitly told them we would be back to get him and to not put him down. They then proceeded to tell us various things from him being at the vet to him being on antibiotics to him being sedated over the course of the next week. We were also told he is slated to be put down several times because he tested for feline aids. This is despite us having 4 people call repeatedly and get updates and ensure we are taking him back to care for him. They then denied us the ability to have him go to a vet and told me we could pick him up for $15. Needless to say I had my cousin go rescue him from this place. I can not believe the disregard for life this place exhibited. They nonchalantly told us false info about our little friend and that he will be put down. These people do not care about animals, that is very evident. Their website says they only put down animals who are severely sick, he is not. We do not give up on humans, why would you give up on on cat? Especially when he has countless people calling to check on him. This whole experience does not end with this review, we will pursue it further. This is unacceptable to the extreme and you will be hearing from us again. What type of non kill animal shelter kills animals who have minor infections against the rescuers wishes? We have the money and means to care for him, that is NOT your choice to make. Ya'll should be happy you didn't put him down because you'd all be out of a job. You all know what you did was wrong. We are all animals lovers, or at least claim to be, so how could you even say that to us? Heartless, disrespectful and illegal. Good thing we had so many people call, we all got different answers and that will hold up well when it comes to verifying the story. I hate this place and will never in a billion years bring any animal here. Our little buddy was 100,000x safer and happier on the porch versus in that place.

This was such a great experience for us to adopt our new family member. The people who work there are absolutely fantastic. They love their work, and the pets, and will go the extra mile to be sure to take care of every detail. Super impressed with the staff and the care of the animalsCan't thank them enough for my new little girl!

Feel free to message me if you want to know why I gave only 1 star. Too bad ZERO isn't an option. All I can say here is that they slandered me because of lies, flat out lied to me, and made fun of my situation after a former family member stole my cats that I had raised from birth. Instead of getting the entire story, I heard from multiple people that the director was running her mouth and spreading lies about me. I won't do business with such nasty, hate filled people. I advise you against it as well. Until they get a new, moral director they are a waste of space.

1st visit around 2pm, very clean and a variety of dogs. 2nd visit that day I called ahead to make sure that open till 4. The doors were locked at 3:52. I knocked for 7 minutes, called several times no answer Employees knew someone was coming!!! Employees opened the door right at 4 and said were closed. Can't come in, come back another day. Very sad when they knew someone was going to be there. I will never adopt from this dismissive shelter!!!!!

I adopted the most beautiful 2 year old cat at TCHS! They treated her like family while she was with them, so she acclimated to her new home well. Cats don't live in cages there, they're called cat rooms with groups of cats, beds, toys, and they can go outside. Love this place!!

Never ever have I heard such nonsense. We only take stray cats one day a week on Fridays at 9 a.m. but you have to call first to reserve a cage ,you call on Friday and usually in the first 3 to 4 minutes they're filled by then. so what's the freaking point! find somebody that will take care of these cats that are wandering around New Philadelphia Ohio find somebody to do the jobs

Called to see if they could take a stray cat and was put on the waiting list. I was surprised they called within a month or so to inform me they had room. I was hoping he would find a good home as he was so loving and dedicated. But I think we were the only folks that gave him love, attention and care. Unfortunately he was ill and needed to be put to rest. I can't say enough about the compassion and caring these folks gave Little Man and me for that matter. Such giving people in so many ways. Please make sure you thank them for their hard work.

This place’s application process is way over the top if you have other animals. They have to talk to your vet first before you can even get approved. I’ve never heard of anything like that from anywhere else. There are an over abundance of animals there that could be going home with good families and don’t because of an extensive application process. It would make more sense to do a background check if you’re going to take the time to call everyone’s veterinarians. I live an hour away and was really disappointed when I went there for a cat.

Terrible customer service. We had a dog that ended up biting people after we had her for a week and had to return her for safety reasons. They would not refund our money. They would not return calls, finally after 2 months I found our we are being sent a letter stating they won't refund. Beware... All we wanted to do was adopt a dog and only ended up getting screwed by a money hungry organization. No one will call you back if you have a problem.
