We adopted our new family member from HSOV and we could not be happier. Beta has already become comfortable with us and seems to be a very happy girl. We met her a week before we were able to adopt (we currently live on the other side of the state) they held her for us and gave us a collar and a box of food to help us and her tummy with our switch to her new food. We love Beta and are happy we could be her forever family! 3 months in and Beta is the best addition to our family!!! Everyone she meets loves her and she is living her best life!

I was pleasantly greated by a nice woman at her desk by the enterence.I told her what I was there for, and she escorted me to the room to see all the available pets.Opening several cages and bringing out each pet for me to see and pet.Unfortunately I couldn't adopt that day, as I knew I may be moving to a new home, and didn't want to disrupt any animals by rehoming 2 times in a short period of time.I definitely will return.

My children and I went to this shelter, looking to adopt a kitten. Upon going into the cat area, many of the cats sounded sick. Many were sneezing, eyes running, and nasal dripping. None that I saw were fixed, and I am not sure if they do so before you take them home. It was absolutely heartbreaking to see the state the cats were in, and I knew with the conditions of the cats, I could not safely adopt one to bring home to my healthy cat. FRV and upper respiratory infections, is what I would say most we’re experiencing and this is highly contagious in the cat world. Be careful when adopting from this shelter.Edit to reply to property comment:The reason for the sub-par review for Parkersburg, Wv shelter, (if you actually read it) they let me adopt a kitten full of tape worms. I brought him home and his first poo was full of them. We promptly treated him, and I can contest he is fully healthy now that he is in our care. Why would I leave a fully positive review for the Parkersburg shelter, when they cleaned this cats litter box for over a week, and did not once treat or let me know he had parasites I could bring home to my healthy cat? That comment on your part was unneeded as I had a reasonable, reason for my issue with that facility. So thank you for taking the time to dig my review up for the place I did decide to adopt.. how odd. As far as wandering in the "sick cat area" your employee, directed us into the cat adoption area we visited. This was not a sick area per your staff. I am commenting on what I have observed upon visiting your location and observing many sneezing, runny noses, and crusty eyes cats/kittens. That was my observation so take it as you will. For the volunteering part, I am not local so that can not happen, but I do help take care of my local stray cats in my neighborhood, to prevent illness, and over population. I am happy you reported many adopted, healthy kittens. That is wonderful and so is adoption. I am just reporting on what I observed. Thank you.

Filled out the app with everything except my DNA sample, never heard anything back, adopted elsewhere. Why can't these places at least send a accept or deny email instead of just saying if you dont hear anything in 10 days, just assume that your application was denied. I know these places are short handed but how long does it take to hit the reply button and copy/paste a message?? Ended up getting a cat in less than 4 days from somewhere else. No wonder these places have the animals so long with procedures like this. Ive filled out easier car loan apps than this! At least the one I was looking at has been adopted - only reason for the additional star.

The adoption process was simple. Caring about the animals is up to you. You know that the staff there really care about the work their doing. The facility is very clean, as well as the animals. Our Humane Society definitely has my support.

I love getting my pets from here. I have gotten my last 3 dogs from here. They seem to have a large selection of dogs. I have to have small ones as I am a senior and can't handle large dogs. The people are so friendly and helpful. They go out of the way for you and make sure you and the baby will be happy together. Even if you don't find the one you want go back I'm sure you will as they get dogs in everyday. Happy hunting

Was told had to fill out application for adoption no problem I did handed to them in person. Haven't heard from them in a month went elsewhere. You would think if they really want to adoption pets especially at $150 they would be more responsive.

They have friendly customer service here. Very reasonable adoption fees on their pets. I can tell that they take care of all the animals in their care. We adopted a very sweet kitty from here 11 years ago and she was such a blessing to our family. I will definitely adopt more pets from them in the future!

Great place! Great employees! Found our little angel kitty "Tristan" here.Update 4 yrs later(w/new pics): Tristian is doing great. He has such a funny personality. His favorite activities are begging for cat treats, taking naps, bird watching, and late night zooming around the house.

Slow process to adopt. Drove down being told the cat had been spayed and was ready only to find out it was out getting spayed that day. Had to make a separate 1 hour trip but the cat is worth it. She's the sweetest cat ever!

They are SOOOOOO cruel to the animals and they are not nice to me. The director is SOOOOOO slow, when I talk about ANIMAL cruelty, it went over her head. She said SOOOOOO what. There are animals who are SOOOOOO NOT being taking care OF IN the Campground

The staff was extremely helpful and sweet when adopting a new dog. They sent us home with a bag of food, a harness and a toy. The staff was even okay with us picking him up days before it was scheduled.

The hours posted by Google are incorrect. Check their website for the most up to date hours. We found out the hard way by traveling across state to adopt a puppy at 9 am and found out they weren't open till noon! The staff and volunteers were very nice and helpful though and we came home with a new puppy! We couldn't be more happy with the outcome :)

My boyfriend and I had our hearts set out on a dog named Bubba that we had seen on their pet finders account. We scheduled a meet and greet to adopt Bubba. However as the days were nearing I noticed there were multiple bubbas on the website and I was worried maybe we weren't talking about the same one, even though we both said on the phone the boxer pit mix. I get there and I see a different bubba then what I was expecting.I wasn't quiet sure about him, but they said he was good with cats but not other dogs, so i was worried as to how well he does in an apartment complex while others are walking their dogs.We adopted him anyway! And his name is Max! He does great with our cat marley, and great with the dogs at the apartment complex and has even made some friends at the dog park, but jm always watching him at the dog park as well to make sure he or other dogs don't start fighting.We have had some issues of him jumping on us, playing tug of war with the leash, and doing a playfully biting/mouthing, and the adoption agency will sometimes call to check up and some have a few tips on what to do while others don't say much of what will help with those behavioral issues, and with the coronavirus there isnt much obedience classes open. However we got hkm a shock collar that has three modes, beep, vibrate amd shock, and just with the beep alone he stops what he's doing.Love the dog, happy the agency will call to check up, but I feel like they should update their website more often.

Staff can take hours to get ahold of at times while in the physical shelter. And have seen plenty of animals in poor health over the 3-4 years I've been visitong to adopt.Have also overheard staff mocking customers and other workers when they thought they were out of earshot...very rude in general and i hope they treat thier animals better than they do their adopters.

HSOV is wonderful. It's amazing how many animals the employees take care of with as little employees that are there. I love being there and the cats and dogs(and other animals) are very special to the ones that take care of them on a daily basis. They truly care and it shows.

We have been trying for two weeks to adopt our Marley back after we took him to get help. Well each time we called it was always the same questions and that the manager would call us and don't see any reason why we can't adopt him, put everything we told them on the managers desk and that we were the only ones to put in a form for him. We never heard from the manager we had to call him to find out the truth. That truth is that they're all a bunch of liars, they never communicate they just leave you guessing and then adopt the dog out to someone else who apparently didn't put in for him. You guys broke a lot of our hearts today we have been trying so hard to get him back and you guys knew that. So if anybody wants to take your pet to get help there don't and don't give them any money they don't deserve it after what they have done. You guys are a horrible place and you can't tell us otherwise after what you've done.

If I could give them a higher than a 5, I would. My husband just had an amputation in the fall. Then our dog came down with an infection that would cost $450! These people paid for $400 out of the $450 for her surgery! God bless you people for your kindness and love for animals!

Animals seem to be cared for and decently clean for and animal society place. I only delivered bleach there but enjoyed the experence
