This was our second stay with Jen and Justin and they are so accommodating and responsive to questions. We stayed at Paws and Unwind a few years ago and opted for Take a Hike this time. Both cabins are absolutely perfect for a get away with your favorite pooch. Both have doggie amenities galore….bowls, beds, leashes, treats, big and small crates, and a fenced yard. Plus the human amenities are everything you might need - from the obvious well equipped kitchen and linens to hiking poles and flashlights. Take a Hike is smaller, but our favorite so far. Next time we might try Get Lost, but we did love sitting in the hammock swings on the deck of Take a Hike and feeling like we were truly in the woods. Thank you, Jen and Justin, for sharing your little slice of paradise💕🐾

Another amazing stay! Although it was a bit cool and cloudy, we still had a great time admiring nature’s beauty!It was a very fun and relaxing weekend.Our “kids” Molly, Minnie, Lucky and Tinkerbell had a blast. They were free to roam and get plenty of exercise exploring the woods near the cabin.Thanks again for a wonderful weekend! We stayed at Take A Hike and were so pleased. So many needs were taken care of. Little baskets contained coffee, blankets, dog toys and biscuits.There were flashlights, leashes, dog bowls. The fenced area for our dogs was so nice and secure. I loved the covered deck with hanging swings and cute lights. We had all we needed with a clean and comfortable cabin. The beds were comfortable and wewere close to the trails. The notebook of info was so complete. Thanks for the great experience.

This was our second stay with Dog Friendly Hocking Hills. First in Take a Hike, this time in Get Lost. Literally cannot say enough good things. Both cabins have incredibly thoughtful add-ons to make the stay easier with dogs. Jen & Justin were the perfect hosts. Communication was quick & easy. The cabins were clean & comfortable. Access was simple. Plus, they accommodated our 3 big dogs, full size trucks, trailers & Jeeps. We'll be back if they'll have us. Highly recommended!

We've stayed at both "Take a Hike" and "Get Lost" cabins - Jen and Justin are amazing hosts and have thought of everything for you and especially your fur babies! Loved having our dogs with us for the weekend stays. The attention to detail to make sure your pups are safe and comfortable is above and beyond - it really is dog friendly. Everything around the cabin is fenced to keep the dogs safe - they have dog beds, bowls, treats - it's all there. The cabins are beautifully decorated and just as comfortable for us as well - the back deck and ravine views are my favorite. Love the hammock swings too!!

We have rented from here 4 times, we’ve stayed in all 3 cabins and they are all awesome! The cabins are always clean and have literally everything you need for your pups and you- dog bowls, dog bed, coolers, games, etc. The fenced in area is secure (we have big dogs). Not to mention- there’s trails you can walk to from the cabin and 5 mins drive to Old Man’s Cave. Communication is fast and clear. I seriously have zero negative feedback, we have our next trip already booked 🙂

If it’s available, book it! You can tell Jen and Justin put so much love and thought into these homes. It’s so nice to stay somewhere that dogs are truly welcome!We have stayed at Take a Hike and Get Lost. A million tiny details make their homes easy and welcoming. Each home has a dog bed, a coolaroo, bowls for food and water, toys, a retractable leash by the fire pit, and a fenced in area just for the pups. Not taking a dog on a leash to the bathroom is truly the best. The kitchens are stocked just right and make the most of the space. Everything feels clean and new.The properties are so close to the big hiking attractions. Less time in the car with kid and dog is a win! Old Man’s Cave is literally around the corner. You can hike there from the property if you’re up for it.We will return to rent from Jen and Justin time and time again. Their properties are truly a gem!

We always enjoy all that is provided with every stay. Our dog is always happy and comfortable with all the extras for pets too! Many wonderful memories made!

We were so happy to find a cabin that would allow us to stay with all our dogs! Jen and Justin have a great thing going for dog lovers! They thought of everything you need to easily travel with your pets. We packed toys from home but for some reason they loved the broccoli toy in the cabin 😄. The cabin was clean and very nice. We loved the back deck and fenced in area. It was so easy to hop on a trail and hike. The dogs loved the long walks and were certainly tired out. We all had a great time and will definitely be back!

Just wrapped up our 2nd stay at Paws & Unwind! We had such a great trip last year that we decided to extend our trip a night this year. We’ve been visiting Hocking Hills for all of our anniversaries the last 7 years and being able to bring all 4 of our dogs has been a game changer!The location is perfect and we’ve been able to go on multiple hikes a day, while coming back to relax during the kids naptime.Jen & Justin are the most thoughtful hosts.Their communication is proactive and they offer many flexible options. We felt right at home and had everything we needed!We can’t wait for next year!

I've stayed in Hocking Hills for years and dog friendly Paws and Unwind is our favorite place to stay. It's secluded but still central to the good stuff. It's very clean and well stocked for a family with a dog's needs. It is clearly run by people who are thoughtful and have a passion for the customer first.

Our stay was perfect! The cabin was super clean, super comfortable. The bed was comfortable to sleep on, ceiling fans in all of the rooms. There was a large dog crate in our room for the pup. Bathroom was clean; shampoo, conditioner, and wash were in the shower. Make up remover wipes, new toothbrushes, and Qtips provided, just in case. Couch was comfortable, fireplace, TV and DVDs made for a fun movie night. Kitchen was great: spices, cooking oils and spray, condiments in the fridge. We easily made all of our meals there. The covered back porch was perfect with table and chairs, hanging lounging chairs, enchanting string lights, and a large dog bowl for water. There was a nice-sized attached dog run with an outside bed for pup. A fire pit with Adirondack chairs, a fire starter basket with marshmallow roasters. Special touches were everywhere, from a jar of dog treats, to bottled water, glow in the dark bracelets, a basket of dog toys and a soft dog bed. CAN'T WAIT TO BOOK AGAIN!

My BFF and I wanted a weekend away, but also wanted to bring our puppies (1 & 3). Jen & Justin provided us with the perfect escape during our stay at Get Lost. We walked to the trails, captured BEAUTIFUL scenery and the pups had a blast! I’m a big volunteer in the rescue community so finding a place close to Cincinnati that is dog friendly and incredibly cozy is a win win! We’ve stayed at Take A Hike cabin every Thanksgiving for 4 years now and it is truly one of the most enjoyable experiences! We wanted to get away but didn’t want to leave our fur kids behind. The cabin is secluded, clean and stocked with everything you could think to need on a trip with dogs. Jen and Justin are always available if needed and go out of their way to add personal touches. Hands down one of the best getaway experiences!

I absolutely love having a beautiful place to escape all of the chaos of every day life. Going off the grid for a couple of days and being able to take my dog makes it all the better! I rescued my dog as a puppy when I lived in Los Angeles and we went hiking everywhere. Discovering a magical place like Hocking Hills in Ohio was truly a surprise! We couldn’t love the amenities more during our cozy stay at “Get Lost.” Being able to walk from the cabin to the trails was an extra plus! Highly recommend!!!

We stayed at 'Get Lost' in mid-April 2023 for three nights. The description of the cabin from their website as heavy on the dog-friendliness of the cabin – and they weren't kidding! The cabin is jammed packed with thoughtful customizations and amenities specifically tailored toward canine guests. Among the more obvious amenities, 'Get Lost' had two dog crates (large and small) available, food bowls, blankets, toys, treats & a bed. There is also a fenced-in area just off the back deck so you can let your pooch out early in the morning or late at night without going out. The back deck is also covered and has an additional gate at the top of the stairs so if you want your dog to remain on the deck, you just close the gate. And if you have to take your dog out for a short stroll at night, no worries! There are several flashlights available (which was great because we forgot ours).For human comforts, the kitchen was fully stocked with a drip coffeemaker and Keurig, toaster, crockpot, waffle maker, blender, mixer, cooking sheets, and pots & pans of various sizes. There were also plenty of extra towels, blankets, and comforters. The cabin is “unplugged” meaning no internet and spotty cell coverage. (We use Verizon and got one to two bars of coverage when standing next to the south window in the master bedroom.) There is a TV with an antenna and a DVD/Blu-ray player, but don't worry about bringing a bunch of movies from home – there is a huge library of movies available at the cabin (many family-friendly). Plus lots of books, board games, puzzles, and card games. And they offer lawn games, too.The cabin is also very secluded and quiet, which was wonderful. The only sounds you will hear will be the wind, the birds, and various critters. We spent an evening around the fire-pit roasting marshmallows and just enjoying the quiet. (Be sure to take some time to turn off the outside lights of the cabin and gaze up at the heavens – the night sky is amazing without any light pollution.)Oh, yes – and the cabin is ridiculously close to several hiking trails. Buckeye Trail is literally down the street and Ash Cave, Cedar Falls, and Conkle's Hollow are just a couple of miles away (or less). And the cabin owners, Jen & Justin, also provide a binder with tons of helpful information about dining options, where to get groceries, and info about things to do locally.The cabin is all vinyl laminate flooring, which makes for easy clean-up with dogs, but can be troublesome if your pet is older and/or has mobility issues. Both of our dogs are cuddle bugs and always want to snuggle with us on the couch, but the flooring gave our basset hound a bit of trouble when he tried to jump up or down. We intend to solve this issue by bringing a non-slip dog rug on our next visit to provide a bit more traction for him, but he genuinely loved the cabin. Both of our dogs enjoyed the cabin, and we did, too. Our only regret is that we didn't book a longer visit.Highly recommended.

Bring your 4 legged friend! We have rented from Jen, Justin & Cookie several times, and have always had a great experience. Jen & Justin are very attentive hosts, and always go above and beyond to assure that things exceed your expectations! All three of their cabins are lovely, and have everything you need. Including Kleenex (I hate staying at places that don’t supply Kleenex!) I highly recommend renting any of their cabins.
