And then I'll bust us for animal abuse yeah wait I take care of the older folks around here Humane Society thank you we cannot take care of our dog we need someone to take him please

I drove a friend to WCHS for her to adopt a cat in September 2019. We both ended up coming home with one! It was obvious that everyone I dealt with in person and over the phone here is truly dedicated to the animals. Star (formerly Taylor) is an absolute sweetheart, and treats the new kitten like her own. My friend now has 3 former WCHS kitties.

Our experience working with the Wood County Humane Society has been phenomenal. We contacted them about an available dog. It turned out that the dog needed a quiet home without kids and didn't work out for us...however, the lady we talked to, worked with us and based on the information given to her about our lifestyle/family, found us an amazing fit. The dog has been a great addition to our family. On top of that, within the first 30 days, they have called twice to follow up and make sure we were doing ok and offered to answer any questions we had. I strongly recommend working with these guys...they are great! Although I can't remember your names, whoever helped us with the Gerard adoption back in December, THANK YOU!!

Love volunteering here. The staff is great and who doesn't like getting to play with the cats and dogs all day. Updated to include a picture of the fur baby we adopted from there taken on her second gotcha day.

I adopted my dog, Pavlov, here on August 31st 2016 and it was the best decision I ever made. The staff were wonderful and gave me all of the information they could provide about Pav's personality, likes, dislikes, and more. We are very grateful for them.

I wasnt allowed to see the cats to check if mine who had gotten out was there. Just had to trust the staff. I don't believe they would lie to me but as a grieving pet owner I feel mentally better seeing for myself. But others get to see the cats when they want to adopt.

The staff here can be somewhat grumpy at times but the cats are always amazing. I adopted a fantastic cat from here a year ago and couldn't love her more

Came for the first time on a Sunday. Their website says, they are open till 5pm. Yet, when I arrived the doors were locked with paper sign saying " closed, only via appointments today" How unprofessional and pathetic. It's 2023 and this establishment has a website with their current hours. Just to find out when you're there in person, you're "greeted" by a paper-sign at their front door, how they are not open. Mind you this is a wood county humane society. Never again. Just wasted gas money!

We came here to look at cats. Some staff were pleasant and professional, while some others not so much. One young lady was very rough to the animals, and came off very know-it-all and overall rude. We looked at a cat and were pressured into adopting her, the worker having lied about them not doing 24-hour holds so we could think on it more. Long story short, we wound up returning the cat, told we could do such right away no questions asked but that also seemed to be a lie. Immediately it was the 20 questions game, not accepting our answer and prying more and more, and we apparently were supposed to call and schedule an appointment to take her back? This wouldn't have been a problem if we were told. All in all a decent place, the animals seemed very happy (outside of obvious stress from being locked in kennels) but some staff members seem to be better than others.

I went to look at the available cats. The place was very clean! The staff could not have been nicer! I did find a cat that wanted to adopt me. He had some medicine that needed to go with him and they were very clear on the direction. I was more than impressed with the facility. Much nicer than others I had been to to look at adoptable cats. I highly recommend wood county humane society!

The shelter is lovely! All animals have information tags that help tell more about the personality and medical issues as well. If you're looking to become a foster parent or adopt in Wood County areas, definitely check the Humane Society out.

Very nice adoption experience. Used to volunteer yeeeears ago and it has always been a nice shelter that takes good care of their animals. We were very pleased with the overall cost and what came with our new pup (including neuter and shots). Please adopt from here, or your local humane society, over any breeder or pet store! Such a great cause and very well vetted animals!

Such nice people, very informative. Having all the history ready when we get there is so helpful and the adoption process was so easy! We adopted a cat today and she is so sweet. They made the process very easy. The facility was clean and if I'm every looking for another cat, I'll be back!

The staff is super friendly, helpful, and available. The shelter is clean and a good space for all the animals. There are lots of animals to choose from and the staff can tell you all about them and help you decide if they’re a good fit for your home. I just adopted two furever friends and I couldn’t be happier.

Adopted a kitten recently and the interaction went well with the individual we worked with. While completing the process she explained that we could call if we had any questions or concerns and they would assist with anything they could. A week after having our kitten there was a concern about an issue they claimed to have treated, only to be rudely told it is our pet now, making it our problem. I would avoid going here unless you prefer rude transactions and adoptions that end up with vet visits within the first week.

Adopted our Shiba Inu from WCHS. The staff was upfront and honest in their knowledge of her current situation. We were able to spend as much time as we wanted with her at the shelter to make sure she would be a good fit for our family. We were not pressured to take her, and the staff genuinely cared that she was going to the “right” home. Our little one has a long road ahead of her, because of her past history, but we couldn’t be happier with our selection and newest member of our family.

People at the front desk was kind of do my family, no wonder people don't like coming there to adopt they acted like they was better use. So I'll probably go to a breeder and by our next pet.

My husband and I are so happy to have added a real cutie, 9 week old sable kitty to our home today! We have named her Trixie and she will be loved forever by us and her 6 year old tuxedo kitty brother, Checkers. We were so impressed with the help and professional handling of the adoption process there. What a friendly, helpful and caring staff that you have at Wood County Humane Society!!!!🐱

I am happy with and thankful for the Wood County Humane Society. I adopted a lovely older dog, named Pookie from them. I renamed Pookie, Phoebe and although I knew she would not be with me for a very long time, I still hoped she would and I loved her very much. She brought great joy to my life while she was here.Phoebe passed away in the early morning Feb 19th.I will never forget all the good memories and everything else. I would recommend this shelter because they are compassionate and helpful. Thankful I got the chance to love this wonderful dog 💜

In 2006 I adopted my Jellybean (pound name was Pint). He was the best kitty ever & sadly passed away on July 8, 2020. His adoption was easy & everyone so helpful. I am grieving now, but when it is time, I plan to return & find my next little buddy. Will be looking for an older cat - one that is overlooked but needs a forever home too.

My wife and I were sad in search of a puppy from a trusted place we came across who we call, Daisy. Daisy came with everything she needed to go home and then some the staff was amazing and friendly and offer a ton of information beyond there responsibility. Keep up the great work!!

I had adopted Nova 3 weeks ago. I was fostering to adopt him. Unfortunately he was sick (with what was obviously a respiratory infection) so I was unable to adopt him right away. I made the mistake of letting this place handle it while I was fostering him back to health. The "vet" that they have there cleared him and said he was ready to be adopted fully and that whatever was remaining of his illness was minor and would clear up naturally. So I trusted the "vets" word of mouth. That was my next mistake. Because here I am a few weeks later preparing to bury 4 week old Nova because he died from a SEVERE resperitory infection that was not treated correctly. When I called to inform that he had passed away and complained about the inaccurate diagnosis, I was then informed that the "vet" isn't an actual vet. They basically have no one there who can make an educated diagnosis. On top of that, they pretty much told me it was my responsibility and that it's my problem and not there's. Once Nova passed I took him to my vet and no later than 10 minutes into the examination, he declared the cause of death a severe infection. I will never do business with this place again.

Good, clean shelter. Animals are well taken care of and there are several volunteers who know the animals well and are active in making sure they get exercise and groomed. My only complaint is that the selection of dogs is normally rather small.
