My husband, 2 dogs, and I camped for the weekend. Bathrooms were clean. Showers were ok. We rented a pontoon and were able to take the dogs with us. Our fellow campers at nearby sites were pretty quite. Overall, great weekendDog-friendliness: My pups had a great time. Even with 4 other dogs close by there wasn't any barking.

Kind of disappointed. Heard it was really nice, but after visiting Hocking Hills State Park this place was just average.Ate at the lodge restaurant, but had to wait until it opened at 5:00 pm.We were able to eat on the outside dining area as we had our dogs with us. So, that was nice. The outside patio area near the lake was nice. The lodge itself was doomy and gloomy.Dog-friendliness: Nice that we could eat outside with our dogs.

Beautiful, quiet, peaceful & fun! Plenty of things to do; hiking trails with varying levels of difficulty, equestrian trails, primitive campgrounds, electric campgrounds, cabins, boating, kayaking fishing, a clean sandy beach with swimming & more! Pet friendly. I am an avid backpacker and I was very impressed with my primitive campground at dock 2. It was serene and quiet with boat/dock/water access and multiple trails. One of the best camping experiences of my life, I had reserved for two days, but ended up staying a week. It’s also very clean & well maintained throughout the entirety of this huge park, with sanitary facilities, even the rest areas in the primitive campground are better than what you would find anywhere else. Easy access to clean running water, sites. Other areas have bathrooms with flushing toilets, the primitive campground has modern sanitary-as-possible outhouses rather than claustrophobic, smelly Porta Johns.Burr Oak also has a Nature Preserve and exhibit building for education, where you can see some really unique wildlife up close. It is fun for all ages. I highly recommend this campground over any of the others in the area. Also, for other reviewers, I’m just going to state right here at the camp store is independent of the park and it is privately owned. Any complaints about that should not reflect upon the park .

Site 33, great for handicapped/ramp van, very level. I stayed three nights. Clean bath house (camp store) nearby in the off season (late jan). Lots to do here. My dog and I hiked the camp trail, but I’d recommend crampons because the ground is very wet and loose leaves. Almost ate it a couple times. The blue water creeks running down to the lake are truly magical. If you look around near the trails you’ll find some absolute monster trees. I’m so glad the state owns this land. The hikes are really nice, I’m looking forward to coming back and doing the rest of them. Friendly staff, good vibes here. The Wayne National Forest area is the best part of OH. Please don’t litter, I picked up several bags of trash in the forest and in fire rings. Also great star viewing at night. In winter, the laundry and site water is shut off.

The campground is very clean and well kept. The sites however have something to be desired. We originally booked site 19 but when we parked our 23ft camper, we would've fallen straight down the hill getting in and out. A number of the sites have little to no flat areas for tents and campers. We also had the pleasure of having a neighbor who didn't know there was a Quiet Time from 10pm-6am. The Ranger came around and asked them politely to keep it down but they didn't. Luckily it was our last night.

Burr Oak is always a great place to take a relaxing trip on the lake and spend the day with family and friends either, camping, fishing or just Boating. You sometimes get to see wildlife like this deer and sometimes an eagle flying around or catching a fish which is awesome to see.Restrooms: For the most part the restrooms are pretty clean and stocked.Dog-friendliness: It's a very dog friendly place to bring your four legged fur babies just remember to clean up after them.Picnic area: The picnic area use to be really nice but the past few times it's over taken with Buzzards who wants to eat with those ugly birds lurking in the trees above you so the park needs to do something about the Buzzards so you can enjoy the picnic area by the beach.

Flush toilets, spacious campsites under the woods.Drinking water nearby.Shower, nice wide beach, Boating/rafting.Cheap campsite. They also have Sheldon Shelter house for people wanting to sleep indoors. The highway to the campground is pretty well maintained and not very hilly/curvy.The cost really is minimal. I have been there twice and stayed both in the Sheldon Cabin and at the campsite.

We hiked the wildcat hollow short loop trail. The hike was filled with wildflowers. Most of the elevation was gradual until the end. Fairly easy experience with many great back packing sites along the the trail. The trail was well marked with white diamonds and easy to follow (which was a bit confusing as we thought the trail would be marked brown from the map at the trail head)

Great park, nice people all around. The camp site was nice and clean (free of any trash), there were plenty of picnic tables and fire pits in the group camp area, and the trails were fun.

Really nice state park with a lakeside beach area for swimming. Electric sites are close together and are more suited to rvs. There are also a number of no electric aites.

Nice pull in camp sites with flat spaces for tents, fire rings, and picnic tables. We stayed the night while passing through. Was enjoyable.

I really wanted to like it there the price was right and sites were easily available...but...the smoke alarm in the cabin I rented for the weekend went off at 2am and there were no instructions for what to do in non-911 emergencies. There are no way-finding signs, the campsites are on top of one another, and the lake view is completely obscured by overgrowth and I mean completely. Staff is super friendly. It's really clean, the cabins are beautiful and have AC, a microwave and a mini fridge. Better luck to you.

Campsite 71, I enjoyed the fact that these sites are set back from main activity but still not far away! Steep to walk down the hillside from your parking spot though. You can see the lake peak through the trees and hear activity on the beach. Neighboring spots here are nicely spaced out.

The tent only sites felt nice and secluded from the hustle and bustle of the main campground. Would definitely recommend

Lakeview Trail could use some attention. Lots of trees down since last visit. If you like a primitive trail this is it. Very rugged narrow trail bit still fun. If the fixed the trees I'd give it 5 stars

We were captivated during our long weekend here and would gladly recommend it to everybody!! We camped from Friday to Monday and id say it got a little bit better each day! The nature part of it is absolutely astonishing!!l We are definitely going to reserve a cabin for a great fall weekend so we can bask in all the colorful beauty!!!! Thank You for the amazing experience!

Smaller campground. Has the same tweaker problem as all of the state parks do. They are going to make your party a part of their meth party whether you like it or not. If you fuss they go to the other dealers set up in the park and organize something sketchy or have the local ne'er-do-wells (customers) come in and play loud music after hours (true story.) Twacks gonna twack. Would be nice if the rangers started cleaning up this element. Kind of ruins yet another thing that used to be great.

This is a small campground. Most tent campsites are park on top and walk your gear down the hill. Nice quiet place to go camping. Mostly small campers here. Lots of scrape marks on the pavement from campers dragging. Shower house needs a little love. Had a really great time.Playground: Small but really what do kids need. Yhe slide is very high off the ground. Kids would still have fun I am sure.Restrooms: Need some tender loving care.

Not suitable for tent camping. No level spots, no grass. Gets very muddy after a good rain. Neighbors are to close. Learned more about the neighbors habits then we care to know. Shower house is in need of a major update. Pretty moldy and gross.

Passing through with our travel trailer and stayed 1 night. Electric only. No sewer or water hooks ups. There is a dump location on site but no water. It was sufficient enough for us to spend the night. All roads leading to this location are dirt and narrow.

This was the first time we had ever been. We stayed three nights at campsite 79. It was barely a day and we had already decided we are coming back next year. The restrooms were kept clean as well as the bathhouse. Hot water was never an issue. There was a walking trail nearby that had us at the beach in a ten minute walk. Absolutely beautiful campground, a gorgeous lake. Great walking trails. I highly recommend this campground to just about anyone. There's plenty to do for the entire family. I know my kids had an absolute blast the entire time

Campground was very well kept with clean bathrooms and convenient parking. Sites were a bit on the small size, so don't plan on using too much space. Burr oak is a beautiful lake with little traffic and very nice people all around!

Clean park, great bathrooms & showers. Very pretty setting but......we were on a tent only site and it was terrible. Site 75 was not level we slept on an angle hoping not to slide to the bottom of the tent but that was tolerable. Description said slope was slight, ha that's a laugh. Also DONT GO BY THE PHOTOS ON THE RESERVATION SIGHT they are misleading as they take the photo low to the ground. There was an extreme climb we had to make to get to & from the site. There is a treacherous dirt slope from the parking above your site down to the site. If you have any back or knee problems prepare to be miserable after having unloaded your vehicle and only a couple of trips to the bathroom which is on the road level. I almost fell multiple times. I twisted my ankle and almost did a face plant down the hill. VERY VERY DANGEROUS!!!

Tent camped one night in mid-September. I was unimpressed with the campground overall. The sites were very open and did not provide any privacy. The sites all surround the same main road and back-up to a dramatic hill down to the water. There is no access to the water or hiking trails from the campground. There was very little flat ground for pitching a tent. It just was not a very attractive campground. Some sites are very close together. The staff was friendly, the bathrooms were clean and I really liked the vending machine for water, gatorade and soda available any time. I will try a different campground when in this area again.

If you want electric, the sites are very close to each other. No shrub barrier between them. Not big rig friendly though there were a couple motor homes. Tight. Parking area to register is not manageable. Would suggest employees park somewhere other than front of office. If you camp electric, there is a good size hill between you and shower. Showers were hot. No shower curtains or clothes hooks in men’s shower room. Both shower rooms felt almost clean.

Our site was a Lil messy. But they compensated couple bags of ice anyway. But all n all, 2nd time there at group camp. I give 4ish rating.Restrooms: Minus big wolf spiders uner the seat. Ok.Dog-friendliness: Took our dog, no complaints. Just not allow in showers or bathroom.
