The lodge room was super comfy, the restaurant has a smaller menu, but something for anyone. And the food was delicious.A little early in the season for fishing but the lake is very accommodating for anglers whether bank fishing or by boat. Can't wait to come back and camp. Also has a large bridal trail and horseman camp.Restrooms: Very clean and up to date. My dumps were taken with great comfort.Picnic area: Awesome little fire pit and lounge area behind the lodge with a free library and chairs for relaxing with a beautiful view of the lake.

The architecture of the Lodge was nostalgic and homey, and our room was quaint in styling and renovation. The second floor café area serves good food, but the smell of decaying carpet was almost overbearing. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt, being the off season, that the repairs/cleaning required was scheduled for later months, but the smell was quite potent, especially near the windows.Overall the scenery is simply stunning. The quiet, the fresh air, and the trails nearby made our stay feel as outdoorsy as we had hoped, especially with the lull in other patrons and families. It felt as if we had the whole resort nearly to ourselves.Disappointed that the pool was still closed/ under renovation even though it was advertised as being open when we booked, but not the worst place we've stayed by far.

I really enjoyed hiking here! I backpacked from dock 3 to dock 2 then camped overnight and packed back! It was my first trip backpacking, and I had a great time! The facilities were clean and the trail was overall well taken care of. There were some downed trees on the trail with one section that was very difficult to cross near dock 2 as there were multiple trees in the same area at varying heights. My dog and I ended up going off trail a bit and around the trees as there was no way I could think of to get both of us and my pack over. For the other sections of trail that had down trees, the logs were fairly easy to step over. Lots of elevation changes and the trail was a bit narrow at times so definitely more of a hiking trail than just a walking or nature trail (which is what we were looking for!). The campsite was clean and there was running water available to share with other sites. Bathrooms available, no sinks or showers (also fine by us, just something for people to know!).

nice area, tent sites too close for comfort. The lake and beech are great. The facilities are nice and clean enough. The tent only camp sites are right on top of each other. I know more about my neighbors that I wanted too. Even when packed in, our tent ended up 5 feet form our neighbors fire pit. There are a few sites that would be great for larger parties if you reserved ajoining sites, but for a single family there isn't much privacy.

This is a great place to head and really escape into nature. I was here for a marathon around the lake starting at the lodge. The trails are fantastic for running (although challenging) and great for hiking. The terrain is not necessarily for the occasional casual run/walker. Since I was there in the fall the leaves were mostly gone but the scenery was still gorgeous and stunning at times. The trails are not well worn so it always felt like I was one of the few that got the opportunity to view it. Lots of moss and ferns and greenery was still around adding to a great run. I would recommend to others and if I returned I would love to just hike some of it.

So the cabins are beautiful. The park itself is well kept. Sadly the Nature Center was closed due to this whole covid-19 thing.Took a hike on the backpack trail. Let's just say this trail is not for beginners. The only issue so far is the individuals staffing the front desk at the lodge. The young lady does not know much. We asked for a map, she said we don't have any. However, the older lady interrupted and took over.I believe this same young lady told us the horse riding ranch was closed too.Not sure what kind of training staff gets here but please be more friendly. The most friendly staff we met was the groundskeeper.I have wonderful memories of coming here as a kid with my family. I was hoping to experience that again. it's so so, so farOh and the boat rental people are AWESOME!!

Beautiful State Park. One of the few that have a lodge. The location in the hills of southeastern Ohio makes this state park very scenic.

Have spent overnights at their lodge as well as cabins. It’s clean, beautiful and scenic. Restaurant on site, also. If you can, find a table along their outdoor seating area for your meal. Pretty view along with sounds of nature.

One of the best state parks in Ohio. Why do I say it? Because it's a complete package. Great access roads. A huge big lake in the middle. You can fish here, take a boat ride, do all the other lakeie things. An array of hiking and biking trails - Esp the biking bit - Great adventure riding your mountain bike up and down the trails - And they're long enough, so biking doesn't become boring. It has a great camping ground (or more?). Best thing: It has this absolutely fantastic mountain lodge-like resort in it that you can go lunch/dine at or just stay the night over. And here's the knock-out punch: No matter which of the above you do - The experience will be outstanding!

It was ok. The area is beautiful, of course. Every natural area surrounding Wayne National Forest is awesome. Staff is helpful and pleasant to engage. The food in the lodge was good. The cabin was a little rough. Was said to have been updated this year and had some nice features, however, the fit and finish was lacking. Seemed like the party that refinished our cabin was in a hurry and the post rehab maintenance was definitely sub-par.

Had a wonderful time. The staff were very helpful and friendly, from the front desk to the wait staff in the restaurant to the maintenance staff that cleared off the leaves and acorns from the court so we could play. The room was clean and well maintained. Enjoyed our walks with views of the lake.

Burr Oak State Park, full of hiking trails and lake front scenery, is beautiful. If you have a limited budgeted and need to escape for the weekend, this is your spot. Rent a cabin, build a fire, take the kids to the playground or putt-putt course, buy a day pass to the pool at the lodge, have dinner at the lodge, frisbee golf, kayak, pontoon boat, go fishing, or simply sit on the beach. This is how I remember Ohio State Parks from when I was a kid....

Renting the boats here are the best !! My grandfather has runs 2 of the marinas for 35+ years so its a family business but people come from all over to rent from us and they keep coming back. Just look at Joe Burrow renting a boat from us this past weekend !!!

What a wonderful area and place to stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Accommodations well kept, maintained and very clean. Lodge and cabins are currently undergoing remodeling. Outside breakfast at Lodge was very filling and peaceful. Family and pet friendly atmosphere.

It is a very good park. We stayed in a cabin, it was clean and comfortable. We hiked the trails which was fun. We also ate at the lodge restaurant, a little pricey but everything was great. The staff we dealt with were extremely helpful. I wanted to give them a five star but decided on four when comparing to some other state parks. I would recommend to anyone and plan on staying again sometime.

Love this quiet, scenic, low motor lake. Lots of hiking trails and some good spots for shorter walks if you have limited mobility. Lodge staff is great, restaurant has a superior view. Lots of birds and wildlife to see.

Good camping experience, not too expensive. Good hiking trails. Biggest negative of our stay was that the disc golf course is poorly signed, but it seems like a fun one if you have the patience to wander a bit. We did not.

Some of the tent only sites could use some steps. A lot of slope to get down to the sites. Very tiring to unpack and repack the car. Other than that it was super clean, quiet, and beautiful.

Lots are mostly new, all were clean. Would have given 5 stars if they had more than 3 shower stalls for the whole campground . Our lot #44

So far it has been an OK experience, but we've only been there for 1 night so far. I will update when we leave. Be aware this campground has very little cell service and appears to have no wifi. So it will be a device free experience.

ODNR is a huge pain int the butt out here. I have whitenessed them stop people and ask for ID with out cause. Will ask for fishing licences even if you have no pole , or are at the docks. Land is beautiful , but hard to be at peace with ODNR suspecting everyone is a criminal.

With a state park lodge/resort Burr oak state park is my favorite park in Ohio. The hiking trails and nature are great all surrounded a quaint lake. This is really a good place to get away from it all.

Went for an afternoon kayak trip. Dock 3. The road leading to it is kind of rough, but it's pretty secluded back that way. So many critters to see.
