This place is awful! They don’t bathe the dogs and let their skin issues get worse! Poor little dog smelled like a dead animal! I tried to rescue the dog and everything went great the first day I saw her. Then when I returned after she was spayed to take her home I forgot her leash! The younger blonde girl up front went ballistic on me and was very rude and condescending! I tried to apologize and said I live in the country and don’t use a leash often. She didn’t want to hear anything I had to say after that and took the dog from me and said “She has lice!” We’re not going to approve the adoption! I was so heartbroken and sad! They are judgmental and rude people and I am devastated! Thanks for nothing brown county animal cruelty shelter!

It was horrible! They yelled at me for not having a leash on my little dog. Then blondie continued to say things, being sarcastic. She’s needs better people skills! She DOESNT know everything!!

My dog got lost . I finally found out where he was. This place had him. My dog has had allergy problems. He had made himself bad. I was hoping they would help him get better. I was hoping they would work with me to get him back. But no, she talks to me like I'm criminal. I love my Turkey Tom so much. There's not a day go by I don't cry over him. My dog is 8 years old. I think that is cruelty to keep my dog from me. I just want my dog back. I think this gal thinks she's God. She places judgment over people she don't even know.

Recently adopted from them for the 1st time. Drove almost 2 and a half hrs 1 way to meet our sweet little girl, and SOOO glad we decided to bring her into our tiny family. Staff was extremely kind & helpful, excellent with coordination, and even patient in understanding I had to wait about 5 days after speaking with them before we were able to make the drive to meet Othelia (busy work schedule). She was up to date on all vaccines, wormed, microchipped (small extra fee - but worth it), spayed (BIG plus), and instantly the sweetest and most loving girl my children and I had ever met. They returned my call quickly a couple of weeks after we brought her home, following a voicemail I had left about a minor health concern. She's all taken care of and great to go now!! She may be the most intelligent dog I've ever owned and is learning SO fast, as well as a ton of really cool tricks! She loves jumping onto and over our backs when "balled up" face down to the floor, jumping through hula hoops, racing through her tunnel, and all around learning in general. She is obsessed w/playing w/our other dog (he had been staying with my dad for awhile as companion animal) and enjoys going to grandpas house to visit for the evening when her new brother goes back for a short while. I know that part has nothing to do with the operation of the shelter as a business, but we are just beyond pleased with them helping us to bring our new family member home. Thank you for allowing Othelia (now named Kinley) to be a permanent part of our family!! Will definitely be referring others to Brown County Humane Society!

I got my paw paw here a few yrs ago he was rescued by them.he has been the the one thing that put a light in my life I love him very much.hes doing very well I have learned with abuse animals you must be patient and love themThank you for letting me get him.Forever grateful

My boyfriend and I were very interested in adopting a kitten they had posted and we submitted an application to their email and followed up the next day via phone call. the lady I spoke with was very nice, said she’d call me back later or the next day. she didn’t. so I called and left a message, no call back. my boyfriend sent another email to them and no response back. very unprofessional in my opinion. if you truly want to get cats adopted into their forever homes you would think you’d call people back or atleast have the decency to tell them they weren’t approved or whatever.we have since adopted another kitten here in NY from a very lovely shelter who is very good at communication.

One of the co-managers stated they did not want me to adopt a cat from them because I admitted to previously having a cat that had not been spayed because it was an indoor cat. Which did not make sense to me because she also stated that all of their cats are spayed before they can be adopted. So what was the concern? They also stated they were at capacity and really needed people to adopt, so why couldn’t I when I was offering to take one off their hands?

I can only speak on the cat portion of the shelter (different building). I wasn't a fan of it being in the middle of the town surrounded by close together houses. There was no parking, which would have been tolerable if my husband could get into the facility. My husband is in a wheelchair and the closed parked cars and houses made it REALLY difficult to get to/into the building.There was also no ramp to get in. I tried to speak to the lady (I know she was busy but I wanted to make sure we could come through the side door, and she was short with me. we left after 5 minutes of waiting for someone to let us in or even just check in with us.

Contacted this place because I was looking for a companion pet for my wife and I, who just lost our fur baby of 17 years. The lady who contacted me back was nice at first, but after contacting our veterinarian who last saw our cat, informed me that since he had only been seen for his frontline in the last 5 or 6 years, instantly informed me they weren't interested in adopting to us. Love and money aren't the same thing. We would've given a pet a great home. Sad for the animals that you would rather keep them than give a family the chance to love them.

I have never been to a animal shelter that was as clean as this place. Most shelters depress me and leave me crying. Not this place. All the dogs looked happy and healthy. Each dog pen had a bed and toys.I highly recommend Brown County Humane Society.We are now the proud owner of Porter.

This shelters staff had terrible attitudes towards people. I brought a dog that I found and told the I kept her from Saturday to Monday because it was a holiday and they were closed and when I called, the dog warden didn’t even come and it was hours before they closed on Saturday. When I took her in the guy even got in my personal vehicle to get her WITHOUT my permission. I’ve also heard many other complaint with the same thing just because they want the money! They could care less about the dogs they just want the $.

Very helpful , clean kennels and go out of their way to work with you picking out a new family member. As a result adopted a 6 month old puppy. Shout out to Renee who connected us with the right dog for our other pets.

Thanks to these wonderful souls I had 8 cats that were baby making machines and thanks to the program I was able to get all 8 of them fixed at no cost They are Angels of mercy I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done for all the animals in this county

Thurs: Called shelter about stay dog at house, shelter said they will send someone out (LIE #1). Fri AM: Called shelter since no one came out Thurs, Shelter said they drove in area but could not find dog (LIE#2) but would be out later that day. Fri PM: Called shelter and said I will bring dog to you, shelter said no, they will be there this evening (LIE#3) Sat AM: Called shelter since no one showed up Fri and was told they did come to my house and could not find dog (LIE#4). I said I am bringing dog to them, no, no, no they don't do intakes on Saturday's due to liability reasons. Asked to speak with warden. Warden called back and said this was first time he heard of this situation and he would be there shortly (LIE#5). Saturday PM: I called back and spoke with warden who said his "shortly" could be several days based upon his other priority calls. Sun: Shelter Closed. Mon: Delivered dog to shelter without notice. What a SNAFU. Having the "Humane Shelter" lie and give you the run around is not acceptable.

My papaw and I try to go down there as much as we can and it's amazing to be able to help the animals. My favorite memory of going down there was when they had this pit bull or boxer I can't I remember because it was 3 years ago. By anyways she was very timid and shy but I have a half pit bull of my own and I know they arnt mean it's how their owners trained them. She was very slim and had her held down in an attack mode but I wasn't scared because my papaw had taught me a lot about how to be careful with dogs and she sniffed the back of my hand and stared licking it. I slowly petted her and the woman who had been watching her was kinda suprised. She might have been abused by men or had some dirt with a man because when my papa got within like 2 feet from her she was VERY protective and got in her low stance. But they took very good care of her and it's always a fun experience when we go down there. I DEFINITELY say you should go with family or friends it's a great time.

I cannot praise this shelter enough!! They go out of their way for all the Furbabies!!! I have adopted now 2 Furbabies through this shelter. Everyone was very helpful to me. They are the best of the best. A huge thank you to them all.

I called and reported animal neglect over a year ago. They said since the animal had food and water, they couldn’t do anything, but they’d do a welfare check. They never did. That poor animal has been suffering.

Rude as hell staff members sat and got yelled at for about 10 minutes by i assume the docotor then by staff on the phone litterally yelled at very rude and horrible
