In the past I've had some bad experiences with "corporatized" veterinary medicine leading to distrust of the industry, our "country vet" is aging and isn't convenient, so when I saw a new independent practice opened in town I wanted to try it out. We need a local vet to depend on when we need it and as the puppy gets older and starts needing teeth cleanings and other services.The positives here--the office is new, fresh, modern and clean. They take full advantage of their practice management system resulting in great communication, ability to pull the vaccine record, receipts, lab results, etc. and schedule online...so it's a easy, modern digital experience. Because they're building their practice, it's still easy to get in for (or change) an appointment. The staff is exceptional...qualified, friendly, patient, authentic, they've taken ownership of problems I've had, and they seem to want to do the "right" thing. They are experienced. Special shout-out to Ashley and her professionalism and demeanor. Seems like they have a nice work culture in their office.The price is not unreasonable. Small vet practices do have overhead and while the base visit is probably average, their markup on vaccines, lab, meds is higher than I've seen or you could find elsewhere. They also subscribe to the same "revenue enhancing" lab and med programs as corporatized vets. But, they aren't at all pushy, they don't push food, and when we had a snafu with medication, they owned it, corrected it, and offered to get us what we needed. So they had a chance to demonstrate integrity and that's exactly what they did. I'd consider the fees just a price in exchange for the higher level of service.

We have been to multiple veterinary offices in the area and have absolutely found our spot at Galena Veterinary Care. Every member of the staff is so welcoming and friendly. Dr. Coppel has been so helpful while we’re trying to figure out some stomach issues with our dog. Our dog is very nervous around new people and new places, and they all are so sweet and patient with him. The office is beautiful and very clean and comfortable. We have also found that pricing seems to be reasonable for the area. Will definitely not be taking our dogs anywhere else - we love this place!

We could not be happier with Galena Vet Care. We have a rescue pup and she was scheduled for a spay with another place but I'm so glad we decided to bring her here instead. They really took care of Khala and patiently answered all of my questions and concerns. The prices are reasonable and the way they care about my pet is beyond! Highly recommended!

Wow! We cannot say enough great things about this practice! Dr Coppel is amazing! She is knowledgeable, caring, and extremely nice. She helped us during a horrible situation with our dog that required biweekly vet visits when another vet brushed off our concerns. Everyone on staff is AMAZING. Most practices have at least one person who is rude/ burned out or just not very friendly but not at Galena Veterinary Care literally everyone greets you with a smile. Ashley and Catherine went above and beyond. We really appreciate this practice! If you need a vet don't hesitate to give them a call.

I can't say enough great things about this facility. We had to make the unfortunate decision to put our dog down. One thing led to another and we all ended up being sick the day he was supposed to go in. They were so understanding and accommodating when I called the morning of to cancel. They have answered every question I've had. They respond promptly to emails and are always there to answer the phone. They gave us an estimate on the overall cost over the phone and didn't hesitate to tell us every option they had available. When I was able to call back to schedule his appointment, they again were so accommodating and understanding. They were able to squeeze us in the week of a holiday and I can't say enough great things about my first experience with them! Lori at the front desk has been so kind and patient. I wish another dog was in our family's near future. When that time does come, Galena Veterinary Care will be our first call for all of our pups needs. Thank you so much for being so kind during this difficult time for our family. I will be telling everyone about our wonderful experience!

We received the best care from Dr Coppel & Lauren. They were friendly, thorough & took the time to answer all of my questions. They distracted my pup with treats while he was getting his vaccines & he didn’t even flinch.The receptionist (I can’t remember her name right now) is also super friendly & has gone above & beyond to help us with our transition to their care. Highly recommend their care & services!

Had an emergency with my puppy. Never been here before, just stopped in out of the blue with what I thought at the time was a choking puppy. They immediately took her back and assessed the situation. They took my dogs well being first and got her sorted out without even hesitating. I appreciate it so much. They have earned my ongoing business because of this. The staff is super nice and listen very well. The online patient portal for the pets is awesome too. Schedule online and they honor it! Very reasona ble prices as well. Super happy with my experience. They also take NFC payments from watches and phones. A life saver when I forgot my wallet. So refreshing to see a business embracing tech.

We brought our first dog here to try as I was happy to finally be able to accompany him into his appointment and from walking in to walking out, I felt respected, heard and loved! Everyone was so kind and open and honest and just really enjoyed seeing them with our furbaby. Needing a vet for our five-month old (at the time) kitten, Mina, I discovered Galena Veterinary Care and scheduled an appointment for Mina to get vaccinated. The professionalism of the staff was impressive. Lori greeted me, a first-time visitor to any sort of veterinary practice, warmly and acted soothingly toward Mina, who was understandably nervous; Lauren was extremely thorough in answering my (numerous) questions and reassuring, making me feel confident in my ability to properly care for our kitten.To help Mina remain calm while receiving her shots, Lauren provided a Churu, which was extremely effective in distracting Mina's attention while the vaccine was administered. After the consult, Lauren also sent via electronic mail a variety of informational topics on caring for kittens that I found helpful. The office itself was also clean and well-maintained. My two dogs went to Galena Veterinary Care this week for routine check-ups and vaccines and we had a great experience. My deaf dog can be a little overwhelmed in new situations and both the veterinarian and veterinary technician were patient and kind. We will be going back for vaccine boosters in a few weeks.

Dr. Coppel recently provided preventive care for my dog, Beau (in addition to my husband’s dog, Tinker). His teeth were checked and cleaned on 8/25/2022 and now they are sparkling and his breath is fresh!
