I took my mom to get her parakeet a "cage mate" and they were really great here!! The selection is really good and their displays, fish tanks, etc. were also very nice!!! Our family loves coming here, you can play with the animals and there are so many different animals to choose from. I got my pet fish from here as well as whatever supplies I need. Would definitely recommend!

ive never seen fish on display look so unhealthy and have such obvious disease across fish, and it wasnt just in one tank but 5 that i could find. very upsetting to have to see have had good experiences in the past with this place.

Not a huge chain, but still have a huge selection for all your bet and aquatic needs, good prices, an unbelievable selection of pets you don't see in chains, and best of all, friendly and knowledgeable service. The employees have a true knowledge about almost anything you could ask, and are more than willing to take the time to explain anything you need to know and make good recommendations whenever needed. I've been going here for many years and it's just the best in the area, no doubt. Best in Pets is exactly that, the best!

Good price on crickets, and feeder fish are good quality. As a turtle owner, I can tell the turtles look clean and well taken care of. The other animals and fish look good as well. I haven't been back to the big box pet stores since I found this place.

Backyard bred mutts overpriced and “Cages” for the puppies are WAY too small. Horrible :(No matter how many horrible reviews they have, they will never take the blame on themselves and refuse to believe they are abusing their animals.This place is disgusting.The “standard cage” for the puppies IS TOO SMALL. They are absolutely money hungry and it’s disgusting the way they even handle their reviews.

I'd give this lower than a 1 star if I could, sheesh. The small animals always have bite wounds on them, I see a lot of sick, dead, or deformed fish in the tanks, and the reptiles are ALWAYS in smelly, crowded tanks. Saw this gem in the tank with anoles and several species of frogs that do not belong together...would not expect the reptiles or fish to live long from here.

The selection,products and layout of this store is SECOND TO NONE! It has the vibe of an old fashioned pet store of yesteryear. Forget Petco and Petsmart...Come here instead! The knowledgeable service alone is a deal maker. Im a customer for life!

Conner (apologies if misspelled) is always on it, he usually helps us but the rest of the staff is great too. Knowledgeable and very determined to help you out with whatever you're looking for. We constantly stop in for fish food or even fish and everytime has been smooth and easy.

Im friends with one of the employee girls there and get most of my blood worms and such from there. They dont take extremely good care of their animals and could use a bit of work cleaning up. I tried to get hired there so i could help out a bit with that but they never hired me. They have all kinds of animals there from snakes and amphobians to rabits and fish. Some of the animals they get are animals people didnt want anymore too

Best place we go to for all our fish needs. One of the only places that carries what we need. We drive and hour and we go every weekend. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Always worth getting out for a drive to go to.

Every fish I bought their died within 2 weeks. Most of the aquariums there are infected with ick or fungus. I would not recommend purchasing fish there. But the staff are nice!Decided to try this place again, purchased a big Golden Flower Horn, which costed $119 and several other small fish. All died with a nasty fungus within several days. All my current fish are all great and doing well that were in the same tank. The Flower Horn died within a week. So I notified the store and was told I could get store credit and to call back and talk to dumb Mike, i mean big Mike. He fixed nothing and I got nothing. So lessen learned, this pet store has infected fish and lost a good customer. Definitely sticking with RMS Aquaculture INC. They take care of their fish and take care of customers!!! 0 stars of I had the option!!!

I’ve been a Customer here for aprox. 8 months. I’m a new fish keeper with a 10 gallon tank. I’ve been through the whole “trial and error” of learning and losing my first set of fish , it’s a heartbreaking initiation into fish keeping! 😢 Also, I had been relying on 3 different people’s advice from 3 different Stores that all were contradictory to one another which was, in retrospect, more than a little disheartening and advice that was, in part, responsible for the demise of 2 more of my fish. However, this led me to Best in Pets! From the moment I walked into this quaint little Store I was greeted by one of their knowledgeable Staff members. They shared their experience and expertise with fresh water fish keeping 💦I had a sick fishy, yes “fishy”, and Staff Member Samantha was quick to accept my fish to try and treat and cure my poor little Platy. She called me shortly after and told me that my Bobo didn’t make it. I’m a hypersensitive person and was shedding tears. Samantha was so sympathetic…I’ll never forget that. I requested that Samantha please keep my deceased fish because I wanted to pick her up and bury her. I was so upset that she offered to drop my fishy off at my house on her way home. I was absolutely blown away by her kindness and sensitivity to what I was going through. She indeed brought my Bobo back to me and I buried her the next day. Samantha is a one in a million girl and I just had to acknowledge her exemplary professionalism, knowledgeable experience, and a natural empathetic nature. She’s the best and I owe her my deepest appreciation.

Always a fun trip. I usually shop for aquarium products and live fish and they always have a good variety. Can't go wrong shopping here. A little more expensive, but they usually have way better quality than chain stores. Get fish here!

I’ve visited this store many times (it’s the only place I can find live feeder rats) throughout the years. The owner is really nice but the condition of the animals is horrid. Puppies kept in tiny little cages drinking water from hamster bottles. The Guinea pigs have not once had any Timothy hay in their cages which is the ONE thing they HAVE to have to prevent GI stasis and to keep their teeth ground down. Their sign hanging up behind the Guinea pigs even says they need Timothy hay, yet these pigs have never ONCE in the 5 years we’ve been going here had hay in their cages. Ive also seen (and pointed out to workers) several pigs who have ringworm. I’ve seen Guinea pigs in rabbit cages and rabbits in Guinea pig cages which is a recipe for disaster. Almost fully grown bearded dragon coats $175…… I’ve NEVER seen on those expensive in my life. Not to mention they use cocoa husk substrate in the dragon cage which is known to cause impaction (much like sand) and kill animals. Lighting is incorrect, coil UVB bulbs don’t provide enough UVB for a dragon. They need linear UVB. I will say that for the most part the cages for all the animals are pretty clean, which is a good thing. You’d think a family run pet store would operate based on their love of animals; however, it appears that Best in Pets is not run on properly caring for the animals they’re selling, but they’re all about making money. It’s sad, and I feel horrible for the animals here, especially when there’s no air conditioning in the store and it’s boiling inside. I can’t imagine how hot those puppies get being locked in a hot box all day when it’s 90 degrees outside. I can only hope that the owner sees this and makes some desperate changes for these innocent little lives. They should be living their best life with WHOEVER has them, and that includes a pet store!

Stopped in this pet store to look for fresh water plants and dwarf frogs to go with our new fish and was very disturbed after being there for 10 minutes. We saw one of their hamsters having babies and there were 3 adult hamsters there eating the babies. We told the worker he looked at it and walked away.. then we walked to the back of the store to look at fish and it looks like there were about 30 betta fish taken out of their containers and put together in a VERY tiny container and were fighting each other. I cannot support a pet store like this so we left immediately

Just because selling puppies in Pet Stores is NOT illegal (yet) in Ohio, doesn't make it right to do so. Best In Pets apparently have been selling puppies for 20+ years. They state they gets their puppies to sell from "licensed" breeders. Who cares. A breeder can be licensed - but they are still breeders. Adding to the over-population of dogs where we kill them in shelters by the MILLIONS every year. The current picture of the most recent puppy for sale shows: NO water bowl. They have him drinking out of a rabbit bottle that provides DROPS of water at a time. Nothing to sleep on. Wire cages are convenient for humans, NOT for animals, who are forced to sit, sleep, and walk on wiring. That HURTS. The confinement cage is TOO small for this puppy - obviously. This puppy is allowed out of his cage, but he is NEVER taken outside. No life for any puppy. The only way to stop this is at a legislative level. Residents of Ohio need to STEP UP. Selling deliberate breeder puppies is a money-maker for the breeder and the store. This poor puppy. One of THOUSANDS.
