Traveled with my family on the Polar Express from the Historic Depot. Incredible experience for the grandkids and myself! Book early. The museum and grounds bid you come early to experience this east-central Ohio treasure. Plenty of local flavor eateries within a short walk allows for an extended visit.

I've been to a number of different museums that cover World War II whether it's the Imperial War Museum in London or the D Day Museum in Bedford Virginia. This is the first museum that I can recall which honors the contributions from the home front.Dennison Depot was a stop for these soldiers on the way to the front and the town went out of their way to ensure they were supported, serving up thousands of gallons of coffee and millions of cookies and so much more. The museum itself is a series of railroad cars that have been recovered and restored. As you walk through the cars, there are signs and captions that show the history, explain the memorabilia and more.Friendly folks who were happy to have a visitor this morning. I found the display really interesting and well worth the price of admission.

WOW! My family did the Polar Express - such a wonderful wonderful experience! They are going above and beyond. I think I counted like 6 to 8 staff per train car. The elves were wonderful and friendly. Santa was great. Their north pole stop was fun and cute. Our emcee announcer guy who did the singing and games was very talented and friendly. My kids had the time of their lives.I just can't see how someone could ask for more. It is a wonderful memory my family will treasure. Hope we can come again!

One of the best museums we have visited. This one definitely has a special historical impact and story. We loved the short film at the beginning. It was just the 2 of us for almost the whole time we were there. All very charming. Well decorated and from what we were told the often change up the decor. Which makes us want to come back again. Also for maybe the fall excursions and the soon to be Airbnb train car to sleep in. We came from near Fort Wayne Indiana. About 3hrs and 45min drive. One suggestion (unless we missed it) a sign in book for all your visitors and far they came to see you. I love that you were able to save the train depot so you could share your awesome story.

This was definitely worth the 2 hour drive to see. The museum is very nice, you're able to walk through some of the train cars and they're decorated to focus around the 30's & 40's. Great piece of American history and well worth the price of admission.

The polar express train ride yesterday was magical! The adults enjoyed it just as much as the children. The elves interacted with all of us for the duration of the ride to the North Pole! We sang Christmas carols, read the Polar Express book, played Elf limbo and met Santa! Worth every penny!

My review is in regard to the polar express experience. I never write reviews, but I feel like all parents should see this. I am just going to start off with this: If your child is doubting, do not come. This will undoubtedly finish it off. My 3 year old was asking a lot of questions after this experience. Several other kids on our car also were asking their parents questions. Right out of the gate, I could tell this was going to be a rough one. It had to be at least 80 degrees on our car. Not far from the station you can look out the window to see one of the locals displaying a giant pot leaf flag right off of their back porch. One would think the city could do something about that given the nature of the experience. There are police cars with their lights on at every rail crossing, further ruining the immersion. Santa’s work shop is the back of some factory. If your kid is like mine, they have seen the polar express 1000 times and will be extremely confused that Santa’s factory looks like a place where hope goes to die. If that wasn’t bad enough, the North Pole some how tops it. Be prepared for a ton of sheds with random locals standing outside in the mud. Guess global warming is evident at the North Pole since there is no snow. Enjoy your whole 4oz of gas station hot chocolate with a cookie from a local grocery/drug store. The bathroom on the car is for “emergencies” only. Well I got news for you, you have a train full of kids and you just gave them hot chocolate, unless you want pee all over the train, everything is going to be an emergency. This whole experience was a giant fart on rails that came close to ruining the magic for my kid. I am disappointed that I drove 90 minutes for this. Total rip off for what we paid.

We went for the Polar Express on 11/30 6pm car 5488. The people on the train around us were so sweet they let my kids go over to their seats because Santa's workshop is only on the one side and the conductor let's you know to send the kids over, we seats 9 10 13 14 so 11 12 7 8 we're on the Santa side. The elves were volunteers and they are kids 10-15 maybe, but that doesnt mean they were good at being elves. They keep the kids entertained the whole time and what types up kids more kids leading them so I think the "I paid x amount for kids comments" are a little unfair. My 7 year old loved the entire thing she wasn't bored once. Now my 5 year old he got a little bored when it was just riding the train even with signing the Christmas carols and the little actity book but there were a wide range of kids and other younger kids seemed fine on the ride. There are bathrooms on the train you can bring small snacks you do get a cookie and hot chocolate. They make lots of references to the film and read you the book. Picking up Santa is the highlight for all the kids my 7 year old noticed there wasn't snow but once she saw the little village set up she was like oh wow we are here. Santa spends sometime with each kid and gives them a bell just like the book. My kids couldn't stop giving him hugs. All the volunteers were great. I'm not sure if we'll be back again only because of my kids ages but I absolutely think everyone should do it again least once.

Kind of disappointed with the final destination of "The North Pole." What you get is Santa's factory -a basic factory with a smoke stack in a small run down town and then eventually you end up at a row of sheds slightly decorated with a few people in cheap costumes who wave at you as you pass by. In the background of these sheds, you will see a neighborhood of rundown homes with people following their normal routine, aka taking out the trash, etc. Nothing magical there! The hot coco and cookie was good but for the price of the tickets they should've been.

This is the nicesest railroad museum that I have ever been to! Everything is very well kept and clean! Lots to learn by going through the exhibits. The coolest part is the exhibits are in Pennsylvania Railroad passinger cars! Also extremely affordable for the family, you will really enjoy!

A lot of hard work went into this museum, and it shows! My dad and I came here after antique shopping and lunch across the street. We loved all the detail that went into the train cars! The employees informed us that many young kids go here to learn about the history of the trains in Dennison. Very educational!

Awesome museum. Really enjoyed going through looking at all the WWII memorabilia. Did not feel that $40/ per ticket was worth the 30 minutes out then 30 minutes back train ride. (that DID include admussion to museum). But the seats in our car were lined up facing the INTERIOR of the car. Who takes a scenic train trip to look at the interior of the car. That was extermely disapointing, I doubt we would return for any future trips. Will drive the extra miles to Cuyahoga Scenic Railway!!!
