Had a great experience visiting FDHS for a meet and greet with a kitten. Kendra, the office manager, was very friendly and helpful. She even brought us some tissues for our happy tears! The whole process of communication via email and phone calls was also very seamless. Very happy with the adoption experience and looking forward to coming back to pick up our kitten!

It's been awhile but, I got my Brody boy from FDHS. Taking him home on 03/17/2010 and losing him 10/29/2019. He was a wonderful best friend, running partner, and big brother to his adopted brother Sammy. Providing me with almost 10 years (not enough) of joy and memories.I remember FDHS being awesome with the adoption process and the lady who I delt with telling me how much she would miss him and his cuddly, sweet personality. Which showed me they don't just house them but, get to know them, and care for and about them. I wish I could somehow give more than 5⭐!!! Which would somehow convince everyone to get their pets from places like The Humane Society and provide financial support.Thank you FDHS for bringing Brody into my and my family's life❤️

Stole my Cat, by using hidden fees.My cat just turned one btw, was about to have him get shots and neutered....been trying since september even....Emotional support animal.They didn't tell me the process when I called because the lady didn't even know and then had the supervisor rob my family of its member. The first day she said bring in 60.60 became 150 over night?Simply because I'm disabled and didn't have access to drive up there before they closed at 5???? Rude. Everyone says this was morally wrong. Civilly speaking. I never stand up for myself....good job. You pushed me over."They have the cops pick up strays? To make them money...yall r horrible folks.""Scam artists. " Quotes from others mouths even?IM THE LAST TO KNOW, folks should be aware of a process (even tho u say there's no process for cats) when u took him, gave him shots when I know he was due.... I'm sorry I have to tell my son. We love Macaroni. So u don't see that animals are loved by the poor? What's the excuse? I'm multiracial and poor? You take a cat make processes for it or turn down taking the cat in. It's not ur court order job to do these thing pass the cat to the feline center where we can obtain our fur babies back. Ma'am.

Not sure how to tate them. I dropped my baby off for surgery and she didn't make it. She was cleared for the surgery after getting a $3500 heart repair. I realize it wasn't their fault but I still miss my baby and am in shock. Their doctor and mine have come to agree it was the after meds and not her heart.

My dog had gotten loose from my daughter's and I was panicked about how he was being treated. He's a big guy but doesn't know a stranger and is extremely non aggressive. When I got there, he was happy to see me, but I could tell he was treated just fine. They told me he was talkative the whole time and had gotten all the other guests involved with his talking and singing.I love this dog more than anything and would be more than lost without him. If I could give a 0 I would. The two helpers were compassionate and very kind but the vet was very cold and bitter and said a lot of things that was not okay. I took my cat in to get neutered. The vet was walking in as I was getting there went back to get my cat. Came out with two other workers and no Leo. Casually told me my cat did not make it. I received no phone call letting me know ahead of time. I believe he wasn’t checked on until I got there and they found him. This surgery is extremely low risk and my baby boy is gone. You have to pay ahead of time and I had my other cat scheduled the next month and now I’m without my baby boy and 2 payments to get cats fixed.

They blocked me on Facebook because they don’t want me to see they’re trying to sell dogs they don’t legally have custody of.I did call the shelter multiple times before they had been there for 5 days so that’s not true, I was told I had to wait to talk to a humane agent after I finally got into contact with someone. The dogs are also considered evidence in an ongoing legal case and there has been a motion filed to preserve the evidence so again you’re wrong.Also edit to add that you can respond to my negative online review and block me on Facebook but when I call and try to talk to someone on the phone no one is available or ever calls me back.Another edit to add, I spoke with the shelter on day 4 of them being there and was told I had to talk to the humane agent who was out of the office still for the holiday weekend (Memorial Day) and I did speak with the humane agent on the next day and then even following that was asked if I wanted to surrender the dogs, I declined. I asked about a week later to visit them and was told they were considered evidence so I was unable to do so. I have phone records to reflect what I am saying.

The staff there is very kind & you can tell how much they love the animals. Every animal in their care is well taken care of - including vet care, spay/neuter, vaccines & microchip. They try their best to get strays back to their owners (unless they shouldn't go back) & they're very respectful to all of their customers.

I tried to surrender my mother's cat, but they refused to take it. This was a great cat that was adopted from them years ago. It is clean, spayed and house broken. But they tried to make me the bad guy for bringing her back. My mother is in a care facility and I could not find a home for this cat.

I took my kitten here & they were wonderful caring loving girls. They helped me tremendously. Very clean and welcoming place. I felt. So at peace having my pet Jasper there. I know he'll be adopted soon. Miss you Buddy🐾🐾

Myself and my mom found an abandoned thrown out dog along the side of the road. We reluctantly handed her over to the sheriff for the Humane society. My mom put an application for adoption in the following day. I called pretty much every day - every other day for several weeks only to be lied to. They tried making it seem like they never lied to me, saying they told me on the 3rd day of calling my mom was approved for adoption, they never once told me she was approved for the adoption. Several of the calls that I had made I was told that the dog was doing great she was adapting great to her foster home. She has to be held for a certain time before she can be put on the adoption list. Only to be told a total of 5 weeks later that she had more injuries than what we were originally told. Very unprofessional!

We saw a dog, on the humane society's website and on Petfinder, we were interested in for a possible adoption. The day we called the humane society we were able to go there for a meet and greet. Four days later we had a wonderful new addition to our family. Literally every person at the humane society was extremely helpful. Now that we have her, it's obvious that Alice received high quality care while she stayed there. It's also obvious that they care about finding their animals the best possible homes, and those looking for a new friend the best possible new family member! Excellent experience all the way!

I had submitted an adoption application, and after about two weeks of not hearing anything I received an email. It told me the veterinary check came back and said the animal I had listed for my previous pet was behind on it's vaccinations. I would not have a problem with this if the pet that I had listed didn't die several years ago. I don't know what veterinary clinic they called either because the one I listed is a family friend who certainly wouldn't lie about not having vaccinations completed. Don't waste your time with a bunch of liars. And if they aren't lying it would be great to know where they got the info.

We went to this shelter to adopt a kitten, found one we loved and we had to wait 1 1/2 weeks to get her because their policy is for the animal to be 8 weeks old to go home. We waited, and brought her home and the kitten was on antibiotics for an eye infection that I wasn't notified about prior. Brought her home with meds and that night the kitten starting having severe diarrhea. Called them back the next day and found out another kitten came down with the same thing. Made another trip to the shelter for more meds. Took the kitten to my vet where I found out the kitten had Giardia and had tapeworms. Treated the kitten for those two things and she is still sick and almost out of meds. It has been a week and I am bringing her back to the shelter tomorrow. I cannot sink anymore money in this cat and continue to clean up 20 plus diarrhea messes per day. I am so upset because the whole reason I adopted her from this shelter is that I was told that the kittens were healthy and treated for everything, which was not the case in my experience. My children are heartbroken, not only did our old cat pass away, but the kitten we adopted as a replacement didn't work out due to illnesses.

Very unprofessional. Ps their comment makes no sense. My review was on behalf of a phone call. They were refusing to help and was VERY snarky. Instead of pointing fingers maybe you should take ACCOUNTABILTY for how you speak to other's. Also while we are bringing up facts....the police picked the dog up (not the warden)...(I didn't let the dog out, I don't live there)......(main issue was tags)

I'm very impressed with all the staff I met, they had all the dogs outside enjoying the sun. I walked through the pen area, very clean that tells me plus one. I met Sassy and minutes had her adoted. Highly recommend

These people are amazing,and I know for a fact how much they care about animals.Unfortunately I had to take my dog there recently,because I was put in a situation where I couldn't provide proper housing for him.They reassured me that he would be well taken care of,and helped me and my best friend get through the process,a very painful process because we love that dog immensely.But we had to do what was best for the dog,given the situation.I just thank God that there are people like this in the world,who I feel don't get the credit they deserve,and I'd give em a ten star rating if it was possible!

👎 I am looking at all shelters for a family dog. I wanted to see if Defiance possibly had a small dog on their website. No, you must fill out an application to adopt before seeing if they even have one there I would want. No thanks! We'll buy that dog somewhere else.

This organization is holding Charlie hostage for the donations he’s bringing in. They won’t return him to the owners and are making the owners jump through hoops to reclaim their beloved fur baby that other owners are not required to do. They’ve cut off communication and block the family’s supporters from their Facebook page. It’s shameful.

Litter boxes had not been touched. Several of the animals had vomited and others had diarrhea. One dog even had a broken cot so it was laying on bare concrete with no food or water or blankets. The smell was awful. One pitbull was even snarling and showing teeth in a very aggressive manner. Don't ever take animals here. It should be shut down permanently. What a disgrace and embarrassment to the county.
