Exceptional Adoption Experience at Petland Kingsdale - Thank You, Tammy and Team!My partner and I recently had the pleasure of adopting our adorable 18-week-old Labrador Retriever from Petland Kingsdale in Upper Arlington, and we couldn't be happier with our experience. Despite the stigma sometimes associated with adopting animals from traditional pet stores, we found the team at Petland Kingsdale to be outstanding, particularly Tammy, who went above and beyond to ensure a smooth adoption process.Tammy's genuine love and concern for the animals in the store were evident from the moment we met her. She took the time to help us complete our adoption and even started training our puppy on essential commands like sit, stay, and roll over. Thanks to her efforts, our puppy is already walking beautifully on her lead. We highly recommend Petland Kingsdale and strongly suggest asking for Tammy – you won't be disappointed! The store itself is super clean, with ample puppy visit rooms and a thoughtful puppy welcome kit that made us feel well-prepared for our new addition. We also want to give a shout-out to Emery, who helped get our puppy ready to take home on the night of our adoption. Overall, we are thrilled to start this new chapter in our lives with our wonderful puppy, and we cannot thank Tammy and the entire team at Petland Kingsdale enough for their exceptional service and care. If you're considering adopting a furry friend, look no further than Petland Kingsdale – you won't regret it!

Staff very friendly and helpful. I vowed never to purchase from a pet store because I know they purchase from puppy mills, but I fell in love with this beautiful boy.Unfortunately, you only have 4 days to schedule your first vet appointment. Who can do this while working FT? It took me 3 weeks to book an appointment.I cannot recommend purchasing a puppy here because I was not made aware of his medical tx given for giardia twice before purchasing. He now has been treated twice more for the same. I’ve incurred greater than $400 in prescriptions, exams, and now prescription food. I purchased him in February!! I wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world because he’s such a loving and intelligent pup. I will never complain about meeting his needs because I couldn’t ask for a sweeter pup.I only post my experience to help others make more informed decisions when purchasing a pup. Do I feel the pet store should somehow compensate me, yes of course I do! Do I believe they will? Not a chance.Addendum 5/6: My poor pup again must go back to the vet after having another explosion of stool. I’m 💯 sure it’s the Giardia again. While I appreciate that Petland has a company that responds and investigates complaints, it is a long process and to date no results. My expenses incurred directly from the parasitic infection were overstated as well, just clarifying this as well. I just want a healthy pup

We have never purchased anything so I want to be clear about that. We have visited the store several times to play with the puppies which is a great way to learn about a variety of breeds and os perfect for children who may be a bit nervous around dogs because the puppies are pretty chill. The staff is very kind and friendly.

A puppy mill for sure but nice staff and an OK variety of dogs to select from. A pretty good selection of birds too. A half dozen or so hamsters as of early March 2024. No kittens as of the same date. Around 4 bunnies available. The store itself is clean. Has a good selection of toys for your pets. Some food and other obvious products for housing, cleaning, etc. your pet.

I wish I could go lower than 1 star. Went here with my girlfriend, left with her finger ripped up and dripping blood from a bird that had apparently been biting people all day from somebody else’s report, had to go to urgent care to get antibiotics for this. I understand that signs are placed to tell people that birds may bite, however, if this bird has been after people all day, you should do more than just have a sign to stop it. People, especially young kids, want to hold birds, so it is absolutely foolish to accommodate this with an aggressive bird. Rushed my girlfriend to the bathroom to run her hand under water while blood was running profusely, and workers, mainly younger people, were standing around twiddling their thumbs. While I was running in and out trying to get what few supplies there were. Eventually I peak my head out of the bathroom trying to get a workers attention even after I had been out of the bathroom to explain the situation before and just get met with an “Is it bad?” Come on. There is blood pouring out of her hand on your venue’s floor. The only real help came from an older employee who supplied some gauze and band aids. It’s clear these younger employees don’t have capabilities to deal with situations like this if they are just going to wait for their older coworkers to help deal with it. This is just a complete lack of situational awareness from Petland staff and resulted in an unanticipated urgent care trip to get antibiotics and a cleaned wound. Will not be coming back.

The ladies at Petland have been so patient with me and my daughter as we navigate the first pet thing. After many visits, we finally decided on a hamster, and they helped us through every step of the way. They were very helpful and kind.

Petland charges DOUBLE what a breeder would charge. Don't get sucked into their payment plan/package.found out my daughter had a second loan. Now paying $6,000 for a dog. Ridiculous! Also, the breeder is on the top 3 worse breeder list for puppy mills.Go straight to the breeders. No warranty or returns. It should be illegal for them to sell animals.

I have been taking my children and now grandchildren to this Petland location for over 30 years! As a single mother and little cash for fun we would go to the Carriage Place Plaza for a almost free day of family time. Being able to spend time with the pets and learn about them from the employees is part of the experience.

The staff at this location were very rude when I asked to see one of the puppies, in the visiting room the puppy used the bathroom and we got a worker and she got upset and snatched the dog out of the room and acted very annoyed with me and my partner. The puppies also do not seem very well taken care of, they smell as if they have not been bathed. Very unprofessional staff.

Awesome visit today with my kids, I seen the animals were all clean, groomed and seemed healthy and happy as you'd expect puppy's to be. You can tell the staff that work at this location genuinely love their job, they interact with the animals just as much as they do the customers. They were attentive and professional.

Extremely over priced ($100 for a parakeet lol). The company as a whole has low morals and ethics in terms of how and where their animals are sourced. Lastly, these people do not know anything about proper animal care - you’ll find a baby macaw caged right next to an air freshener. This could cause serious harm, as parrots as super sensitive to smells (common knowledge for anyone taking care of a parrot…)

If I could give zero stars They wouldn't get one. I had an African Gray the birds named was Buckeye. I didn't even keep the bird 2 weeks. I was told that it was a boy. It was very aggressive. It was drawing blood. I took the bird back to carriage. Place back in 2013 I am now being garnished my wages. For a bird that got returned 10 years ago. I'm coming for you guys. You best believe that. I now have another bird from petland.Could you tell me how I'm able to get that if I didn't return one? These people are a joke. They took me to court said they try to contact me. Never received anything. But I'm being charged $4000 for a bird that was returned to them. Not even 2 weeks after I got it. Unfortunately I have nothing to prove that the bird was returned. Because I've moved acouple times since then And lost all the information that I had. But I will be taking you guys to court. You will not continue to take money from me when your bird was returned to you. I'm sure the bird was resold when.it was delivered back to you

Amazing pet store than any other pet land. Modern building than other stores. Neat and clean. Restrooms available for guests/customers. Staff is cool and patient.

First time visited, it obviously reeks of puppy mill. The amish are also notorious for abusing all their animals whether that's horses or dogs and try to make all the money they can with their mills.

Purchased our beloved puppy from here July 31st, 2019. He passed away unexpectedly on Sunday. After contacting the store we are ere told nothing would be done because we didn’t purchase his food from the store. No sympathy or apologies. 6,000 dollars. And not even forwarded to someone who could help. DO NOT PURCHASE PETS HERE

Absolutely horrible pet store! They sell sick animals. I purchased a parakeet from them about a month ago and she is dying from a sickness that she's had for some time. I don't recommend buying animals from this place at all. Just horrible that I have to watch this poor bird die! And they take no responsibility. Should have known when I was rushed to buy the bird. Shame

Loved the experience. Loved the puppies. Loved the staff. Hate Petland. While this store appeared to be managed well, they still follow the standard Petland model of absolutely ridiculous price markups ($6k for a puppy they paid $700 for) and perpetuate the success of pet mills because of how many more puppies they could then buy with that $6k. I’ll go to pet animals but avoid purchasing one from any Petland location, direct to breeder is the only way.

People think this is a place that sells puppy mill puppies. Not the case at all! I have 4 rescues, and 1 pup that I got here. My puppy from here is just as amazing as my others. And I know his history. He is also quite a local celebrity now around the carriage place plaza! Everyone in the store knows Percy when we walk in and are all super nice to us and love all over him.

Very clean & nice looking store, but the selection is abysmal so I don’t plan on coming back. Only a handful of dog food brands. It’s basically a fancy puppy store with a few other pet items so they don’t have to say they only sell puppies. Most of the store is focused on the puppies for sale.

Showed interest in a silky yorkie and Julie reached out to me instantly. During the process she was so sweet and kind and helpful. She made it so easy. When I had to turn him down due to finances she offered to keep me in the loop about him. Well she did and more recently when she reached out it couldn’t be more perfect timing. She was such a sweet heart and was happy to help. Very welcoming as well. Even helped me carry his take home package to my car: This is my baby his name is Tobi. Thank You Julie you made me life more complete:

We lost our puppy we just got to a birth defect. We got him, he was running and playful and one day he just couldn't use his back legs. We took him to the vet, then medvet. He didn't live past 3 and a half months. We lost our human baby and this was something very special for us. We learned our lesson and just want our money back and move forward. They only will let us chose to get another, we don't want just another. We want our dog alive, he was put down and is safe now over that rainbow. Please be careful and do your research. He didn't deserve such a short life, but we are happy we had the time we did with him. R.I.P Shiro.

Petland is the largest supplier of puppy mill dogs. While we are not opposed to all breeding, we are opposed to irresponsible breeding purely for profit. Puppy mill dogs are bred without regard to temperament, configuration, or hereditary disease, and often carry dangerous infection diseases and parasites (many transmittable to humans). No lemon laws exist in Ohio to protect those who buy dying or diseased puppies. Worse yet, even after a sickly pup has been purchased for thousands has left the store the breeding dogs will still sit in the squalor of their cage. Puppy mill dogs are bred and housed in horrendous conditions until they're no longer of any use, at which time they are disposed of.We ask you help us to peacefully and respectfully educate our community and demand that Petland stop its deceptive ways. Please take the pledge to not spend a penny inside any Petland until the puppy mill pups are gone!-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*Puppy mills are no good for Ohio!Want to understand where we are coming from?Puppy mills are virtually unregulated factory farms that pump unhealthy dogs into our communities and contribute nothing positive to our state with inhumane and irresponsible practices. Not only do unwary families suffer under the financial burden of trying to keep their new family members healthy, but many families may be put at risk from puppies bred with behavioral or genetic risks leading to bites and attacks. Additionally, many Ohio puppy mills fail to maintain adequate business records and often do not collect or pay taxes on their dogs. It is estimated that Ohio is robbed of millions in taxes from puppy mills every single year. Likewise, puppy mills are bad for our health and our environments. Many puppy mills are cesspools of diseases, parasites, and animal waste, all of which can leak into water ways and enter our communities.Meanwhile, 5-7 million dogs and cats are being euthanized in shelters. County shelters all across Ohio needlessly kill hundreds of dogs every single day, many of which are adorable puppies and purebred dogs. Ohio legislators refuse to hear our pleas, and comprehensive animal welfare laws are brushed aside. Ohio has succeeded in becoming one of the worst states in the entire nation for the treatment of its animals, and puppy mill dogs are regarded no differently than a chicken being bred for slaughter. It is high time that we prove we are a humane state and that we stand up against the seedy practices of large businesses like Petland. By refusing to shop Petland you aren't just helping to eradicate puppy mills, you are illustrating the humane and conscientious standards we know Ohioans truly believe in.

This location is good with good staff, tons of gorgeous pets of all varieties that you can pet anytime you feel like it. However the lay are motivated by commissions and far less likely to be concerned for the animals welfare in my opinion. Having bought a pet and coming back for goods they tried aggressively to sell another pet. They just are a business but that’s a tough implication when lives of animals are at stake. The prices are insanely high!!!!!!!

I purchased my cat (then a 4mo kitten) from here 2.5 years ago and they charged me $599 for her with a free voucher (she was supposed to have vaccines up to date but they didn’t have records so I payed out of pocket) to get her spayed.. it expired after one month! I just spent $250 to get her spayed because you shouldn’t spay or neuter an animal before 2yo.. don’t get pets from here..
