I'm shocked by the great recent reviews so I'm hoping our experience just wasn't the norm. They are in the middle of renovations and we knew that when booking, however, I was shocked when we walked into our room as it was either renovated quickly or still in progress. There were a few holes in the wall where it seems like maybe lighting or an electrical box used to be. The tub was full of black grit and dirt from water backing up into our tub when another room turned on their tub so we didn't even use it. The handle to our balcony was broken and hanging by a screw. The door to the room was missing a strike plate and was only being latched by a gap in the wood which allowed the door to be pushed in quite a bit. The heating/cooling wall unit didn't work the best either and we honestly left it off most of the time because it smelled like something was burning and was a foot or so from the bed. Trucks (I'm assuming for renovations) were running most of the night outside our room.We ate pizza and the breakfast buffet and both were very good. The staff were friendly. They did a great job of clearing the snow from sidewalks and roadways. We did not bring up any of our concerns until we checked out as we we told when we checked in that the lodge was completely booked-so it wasn't like we could ask to move rooms. It definitely was not worth the price we paid to stay but we made the best of what we could.

We had an excellent time (one overnight stay) celebrating my wife’s birthday. I’ve camped at the campground numerous times in my youth. First time staying in The Lodge. Newly renovated rooms (some still in progress) excellent meal at The Smokehouse Restaurant. Maggie our server was spot on terrific. Looking forward to our next visit. And the complete renovation look. Kudos to THE STAFFRooms: Freshly renovated, balcony view was a plusNearby activities: Even though it was winter, we enjoyed our hike. Saw several boats on the lake catching fishSafety: Felt safeWalkability: Excellent tailsFood & drinks: Great portions and price point

This hotel was very outdated and run down. I stayed here for one night with my mom and during our stay there was constant screaming from adults and children in the hallways and neighboring rooms. We received a noise complaint about the screaming when it wasn’t even us, they even threatened us that a ranger was coming for us. Then we proceeded to find stink bugs in the room and I woke up with a rash and bug bites all down my chest and stomach. I am convinced these were bed bugs. Save your money. Do not visit this place.

Love this place. Restaurant is great and we love the breakfast buffet after an early morning kayak on the lake. I really enjoyed the animal show by the park naturalist in the lobby (11am sat)!! The facility is beautiful and is getting upgraded so a bit of construction, but certainly not disruptive.

We didn't stay in the rooms. We had lunch in the lounge, as the dining room was closed between lunch and supper at the time.We could only get pizza, but it was really good pizza!! The bartender was very nice and helpful.Noteworthy details: It was a casual day. It wasn't a trip, as it wasn't that far from home. We were at the Apple butter festival. It was nice, but they only had two food trucks. One had a long line that wasn't moving, with only one person working. The other one was out of food, but in the process of getting more. Interesting day also considering that it was also Miami University's parent weekend.

This is one of the great lodges if Ohio, and the U.S. as a whole. This is wonderful architecture designed to give you a feeling of being in the old frontier. This is the type of architecture that so many modern homes and buildings are based upon.

The staff was rude. The rooms were dusty and the carpet wasn't vacuumed. We had 3 guests and only two towels and 1 washcloth that was stained so we refused to use! The pool is too small for the capacity of rooms and people. For the price it should have been like a 5 star hotel and had cleaned and nice towels and washcloths. When I called down to explain the front desk person was rude and then told me there wasn't anymore clean. 🤔We will not be returning. I can spend over $200 at a better spot all day long.Location was great, just not anywhere to eat close by besides the restaurant in the lodge.

No thank you. 1980s shabby without the sheek. We stayed in the lodge one night. We had planned for 4 but the sub standard room with humidity and other issues made us change plans.Multiple construction/destruction projects going on made is a less than desirable place to stay. It may have been nice in the 1980s but not now.We were charged extra to get a handicap accessible room and then found it very inaccessible due to the location in the building and construction blockades.

We have stayed a few times now. Mostly when the kids have a small break from school. It's a nice little hometown getaway . It makes you feel like you took a trip, but we are still basically in our backyard. Hueston Woods is so many things. I remember growing up and coming to the park. Now, our kids are making the same memories .They love everything about it. The pool is always the favorite!!What kid doesn't love the chance to swim all year.We have at at the restraunt as well and it's great !!The lodge It's self is cute and clean. Gives you all the lodge vibes. We are happy with our stay always.Rooms are outdated, but I think it's part of that lodge feeling charm. If you get the lake view, it's very calming. Beautiful piece of property with endless possibilities for a nice break close to home !!We love having this so close. I hope we continue to utilize this as our kids grow older. I also want to visit all seasons instead of just winter and spring break. I'm sure summer is fun and fall is beautiful !!

We stayed here for a wedding that had it's reception in the conference room. The location and amenities on site were perfect for wedding guests. The only downside to this resort are the aging room amenities. The lake side rooms have a great view, the property is clean, and food/drinks on site give you decent options.Rooms: The beds were as good as any hotel, they were clean, and the view was great. Some of the paint, light fixtures, and amenities in the room were aging.Nearby activities: The lake and trails give plenty of options for a activities outside and Oxford is close enough for cute town activities.Food & drinks: The bar offered low quality cocktails but it did have a nice beer selection for super cheap.

Went to the Sunday breakfast buffet. They had bacon, eggs, grits, biscuits, and gravy, french toast, sausage, cinnamon apples, and maple syrup.Staff was nice and very helpful.Highly recommend stopping by even if you stay at the campground.Noteworthy details: There is an inside pool and an outside pool if you don't want to head to the beach.

5/5 incredible staff! I visited because of the incredible 27 hole disc golf course. After, I stopped inside the beautiful lodge to fill my water bottle and use the restroom and dropped by car keys in the toilet. They we're not able to be rescued but thankfully they had lodging and a very welcoming team. The names I recall out of all the chaos was Adam and Chelsea... they were so kind and supportive of my horrid incident. THIS PLACE IS SO BEAUTIFUL, I'll be back.

Older lodge. We got there early and our room was ready so we were allowed to check in (on a Wednesday).Good: early check in, comfortable beds, the Romance package we ordered was waiting in our room and champagne was chilled, amenities of hand soap and lotion as well as shower gel and shampoo and conditioner were available, staff friendlyBad: gift shop closed by 3 each day, prices for rooms on information sheet given at check-in was much lower than the price we paid even though we were given a discount for early spring booking during weekdays (paper said $119/night for 2 queens which is what I booked but I paid &143.65/night so maybe need to update their information on the packets provided), most trails were not marked or incorrectly marked, pool was cool, limited time for meals, room not swept and had trash on the floor when we arrived, patio/balcony was dirty and had a birds nest with bird droppings, maintenance man knocked then was getting ready to come in our room the day after checking in stating he was told our room was empty (I called front desk and they said it was because I checked in early until I reminded them I checked in the day before then they had no excuse and offered nothing after ruining our romance), no housekeeping during your stay so if towels or coffee is needed you had to go to front desk to get it, called to make reservations for dinner and left a message to call me back but no one ever called me back.Food & drinks: Food was average. Drinks were pricey.

I booked a 3-night stay at a lakeview couple's cabin for myself, my wife, and our daughter. The cabin was very comfortable. The amount of stink bugs were annoying, but you're in the outdoors, so what can you expect? I enjoyed the fire pit and the view from our cabin. We visited the Nature Center and the marina and the scenery was beautiful. A bald eagle screeched at me, so that was awesome. We stopped at the restaurant for breakfast our first morning, and the food was okay. We didn't return for lunch or dinner though, as we had plans. The arcade was just okay as well, as half the machines were broken down. Our cabin's WiFi never worked. It would shut off on it's own, and I would have to unplug and plug back in, however it wouldn't connect to the internet for more than 30 seconds. I don't think I'll stay again, but it was an interesting experience for someone who has never gone camping before.

Pros: (2 stars is because the staff was so nice.)- [ ] The staff was beyond pleasant and used wonderful hospitality skills.- [ ] Pizza was good we ordered.- [ ] The gift shop was super cute- [ ] The common areas are out of date, along with the rest of lodge that needs deep cleaning.- [ ] Room has mini fridge with freezer, Microwave, and coffee makerCons:Pool area-- [ ] Water was clear but we found BED BUGS by the towels, even 1 was dead in the water!!- [ ] There were so many people in the small area indoor pool that parents had no where to sit.-[ ] DO NOT recommend bringing children under 6 because we did not feel safe with the amount children unsupervised and little space to even walk around in the pool to enjoy.- [ ] The pool water liner is coming up! There were pieces of it floating in the pool, and we could feel it with our feet.- [ ] The one bathroom at pool never got replaced with toilet paper and the handle was broken on the toilet.Rooms-- [ ] We expected some spiders, because of woods, but not cob webs from poor cleaning…we have never experienced that anywhere before staying here.- [ ] The mattress DID NOT have mattress cover. We were fearful of bed bugs due to pool area. We throughly checked and didn’t see any signs, at least in our room.- [ ] The beds were like sleeping on rocks if you like that you may like these.- [ ] The lock on door to go outside towards the lake is a makeshift lock.(see picture)- [ ] The hot air blew cold air for the heater through the night.- [ ] The room between ours / next to the room we stayed in has a little chain lock for security.(see picture)- [ ] The door to our room … well let’s say I can not believe its allowed to allow people to stay in room with such little privacy like that! (see picture)- [ ] The ceilings in the room had mold (see picture)- [ ] You can hear everything in rooms above you and next to you.Bathroom area-- [ ] The bathroom shower head needs a deep cleaning, along with entire bathroom/lodge.- [ ] The toilet seat was discolored and chipped.- [ ] There are common shampoo conditioner and lotions that stay up from one person to the next and although we brought our own, I was surprised to see the conditioner was completely empty.- [ ] Around the bathroom door had gaps and holes.Electric-- [ ] Extremely surprised there were so many switches that did not even go to a light when flipped. It seemed off to us that they were on the walls but did not work.**Needless to say we ended up only staying one night in the lodge.

The lodge itself was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Grand fireplaces and huge windows overlooking the lake. The pool area was alright, needed to be a bit warmer in the winter months. Lots of lumps and bubbles in the liner and I kept tripping on them. Restaurant staff was excellent and attentive. They do ask that you make reservations which I didn't know until we checked in, so we were unable to eat until 730 which is a bit late for my kids. Dinner was good and they also have a kids menu. There is a separate bar area that also serves pizza but they don't open until 5pmThe arcade games were good. It gets rowdy in the pool and arcade, as parents used it as a free babysitter and there wasn't really any staff supervision. We left the pool twice because kids were jumping off the balcony walkway into 3 feet of water . There is a nature preserve with local wildlife, park and beach about a 5 minute drive from the lodge. The room was standard. Firm beds. Very dusty from the lamp shades to the ceilings were covered. Our allergies were definitely inflamed. I would pro ably try a cabin next time.

Cabin was disgusting, insect infestation, lights didn't work, health department needs called.Black mold. Don't stay here. Do yourself a favor and just spend 300 bucks a night at a all inclusive spa, you will enjoy it far more. The worst vacation of my life.

I could write paragraphs on why this place is amazing but I want to gatekeep this place for myself and family!Food & drinks: Delishh, and breakfast buffet is a must.

We stayed in a pet friendly cabin. The accommodations were poor at best. The kitchen had no silverware and the cups were chipped and cracked. We got plastic bowls. Nothing in the kitchen I would use. Everything was old. I was afraid to use the microwave. We also had no hand towels to dry dishes. I was told they do not provide paper products. Also they had a coffee pot but did not provide coffee. I was told you had to stay in the lodge to get coffee in your room. I didn’t realize I had to bring everything nor did I think I was going camping. The lodge is very dated. I would not stay there either. The only positive was the land and lake was beautiful. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed in my stay.
