I have live in the Shake Square area for over 40 years. I was so happy when this Dave's Supermarket open. It is a great place to shop and the items are always fresh the meats,fruits,and vegetables.The store is clean. The only thing that I see that need some improvement is some of the workers need to be more friendly and caring but that is a small thing for the great service that this store does for this area.

Staff are decent, but this place was woefully understaffed, despite plenty of customers. Prices are pretty high when a small tub of cottage cheese & two dozen eggs run you $10. Worth noting is that the place is filthy. Number signs for the cash-registers are coated in thick, fuzzy dust, showing that the place hasn't really been maintained in probably years. They just do the floors & some surfaces, then call that good enough. It's not hard for a manager to just go in with a vacuum after closing & clean off the signs. And you would expect with the prices gouging you that the whole place would be in immaculate condition, instead of the poles for those signs having paint scraped & worn away & the "We ID" tag stuck on with scotch tape. It's altogether mediocre for a very nice part of town. I am surprised the management & owners don't feel shame.

Dave's used to be for the people in the community. The prices were reasonable and now they are the highest store in town. They have Giant Eagle and Heinen beat on high prices

The main entrance to this place is closed so, you have to use another entrance. It was a bit difficult to find what I was looking for. There was another customer who was roaming around to find something. They should have their staff members around so, customers could use their help. My checkout process was quick.

Every time I try to shop there I find another reason to go somewhere else. Tonight's upset was I needed an antihistamine. They keep it locked up in customer service. After spending time shopping for everything else, they tell me it's closed. If I have to go to a different store I'll buy everything else at that other store.

The cashier was nice. My first time at dis location. I was not all impressed. The security guard was unpleasant, rolling her eyes š. Purchased a chicken š dinner š„ to take home nd for $10.00 it wasnāt worth my money. The chicken pieces was to small, cooked to hard, and was very dry!!. Daveās need to step they food quality game up a bit. If the meat is hard nd dry, it needs to be disguarded instead of selling it to ppl. Unfortunately, I wonāt be returning back at dis location.

Today April 5, 2022 I went in for breakfast sausage, the two rows of sausage link was old and brown at 529 its unacceptable, never go back to this location again.

Dave's on Shaker Square is a great grocery store. The prices are a little higher, but it's nice and convenient when you don't feel like going to Walmart or a bigger grocery store. They have a great meat selection and decent produce

This was my favorite go to store. Until I had a issue with the self check out and the cashier had a nasty terrible attitude about my receipt. Maybe she isnāt happy with her job.She is about 50 or 60 black women.I immediately filed a complaint on her. She started talking about me very rudely to her coworkers. So I gave her the same energy back. I will not be coming back here to spend my money for a while. I really hope the manager handles her situation.Only in black neighborhoods stuff like this happens and itās sad.

I LOVE going to Daveās! It smells like a grocery store should, like when I was a kid. Fresh produce, rotisserie chicken, great selection of meats and ice cream!The clientele is so diverse, just like our neighborhood, and I love it!

Two cashiers were bad. The cookies were in sell and I took too and their system, maybe, didnāt have that offer price updated so they didnāt believe and went to check. If this was in a white neighborhood, they would just go and check themselves; but these mannerless colorful girls were disagreeing; and only went later to check the price.Bad management: How much money would they make from customers who donāt understand this or donāt check how much is charged for the items.shame.

Walked in 20 minutes before close and starting with the security guard 2 to 3 employees will tell you the store closes in 20 minutes. Then they will have an employee walk around and tell every customer the store is closing. They may as well just say get out. I was told was told 3 times that the store was closing before I picked up any items . That's rude.

This Dave's gets 3 stars because of the location. It really needs a remodel. It reminds me of the old storeon 30th and Payne before they moved. I only shophere for emergencies. I'll keep going to the store on 55th or on Cedar Hill until they get their act together

This Dave's is a smaller location. The best time to get meat and produce is when the first put it out. Otherwise it not very fresh. Although at times the lines can be long the people that work here are super friendly and definitely make the deli and checkout experience a pleasure.

Everyone comes here for the hot foods, love the energy in the store. The employees are always saying hello and connecting with my family. I've only had a couple problems in the time that I've been there. I love the discount rack in the back and at the bakery :)

I really wish that this location was more professional and handle customers with care. Every time I visit this store I tend to get employees who are just upset at the world or donāt want to WORK. I mean Iām very kind and approach with politeness and respect. I NEVER receive the same. I needed help at self check out and my check out stand was dinging because it said wait for assistance. So Iām waiting but looking around for someone as well. I see three young ladies (employees) laughing and talking off to the side and not paying attention to customers. Mind you this virus is becoming very dangerous so people really need fast friendly service to get in and out. I waved in their direction to receive help, they all made eye contact but didnāt step over to help. Thatās when I said, āExcuse me ladies! Can I get some help over here?ā And they all got attitudes and pushed each other to get one of them to come over. At that point Iām just like thatās my last straw. Never again will I spend a dime in there. Also, their wall hand sanitizers are always empty and thereās not enough in the right area. The workers also arenāt staying 6ft apart or reminding customers to do the same. Pitiful.

Too crowded, not friendly or very clean. Parking lot is small and full of trash thrown out from cars or people in general. You would think the city of Shaker Heights would make sure that businesses kept up their property.

This is the worse, Daveās in Cleveland and there Store Manager Dwayne Johnson is the worse representation of Management ever. I pray this store goes bankrupt. I literally spent over $200 in cash on meat and needed to return $40 of the meat because I did not need it and this manager refused to give me a refund and gave me the wrong number to complain. I wish all the bad for this man! I will never spend a dime in this store

August 2015 This store seems to have upped its game in the past year. Managers seem friendly and more customer service minded. They are making eye contact being helpful when issues arrive and even proactive.Today a manager called to me and directed me to a shorter line which was very helpful at the time!Summer produce has seemed a bit better.It is in an ideal location to affect societal change. I've heard rumors they are leaving. That should aim at more high end products section and give folks a reason not to drive to Whole Paycheck.August 2014 Absolutely appalled at the quality of produce and the treatment of customers at this store. Limp wilted squashes, rotten spinach, old broccoli...Many of the managers at the Shaker Square store and the Severance store would just as soon walk through you as look at you. When asking for help most managers will not even break stride or stop what they are doing.As I mentioned earlier at the Shaker Square store there is consistently old wilted produce. Earlier this week at this store the management started turning off the lights _45_ _minutes_ *before* closing.At the checkout I was forced into one of two open lines, neither of which was an express line. I had 4 items and many folks had express line amount items. I counted around 30 folks in line, many with full carts. It wouldn't have seemed so bad but after enduring the other insults this seemed a very big thing.I hailed a manager who did stop and give me his attention. I asked him for contact information, perhaps an email or business card, because I had suggestions (for better service) and he told me there was no avenue for this but I could tell him or contact the corporate office, and I shall. My experience has been that it is very easy to forget verbal communications while doing this kind of work.I would really like to see change. I just moved and this store is so convenient I can walk there if I choose unlike Whole Foods at Cedar and Warrensville where I frequently shop. I also use Constantino's at UCI on Euclid having just moved from University Circle.Some of the employees show the same disdain for customers though my sense is that most do not, which is a testament to most of the employees.When I said something about the lines and the lights while in line I was met by a chorus of agreement, aggravation and other stories of experiences like the one I had earlier this week.Your thoughts?One thing is for sure, I will be taking more advantage of the Farmers' Market on Saturdays at Shaker Square.

Great location! Staff could be trained to better help and be nice to people. Everyone looks grumpy and so unhappy. Even people at bakery feel so bothered when you ask them to write a name on the cake...

Dave's seafood counter closes before the store close, however I was able to purchase a bag of shrimp the clerk gives you a paper to give to the cashier once you pay for the item the cashier has to go back to the seafood dept. to pick it up..everybody not STEALING..this was a challenging process, I will shop at other grocery stores where the seafood is NOT BEING HELD HOSTAGE..

Very convenient in location at Shaker square. Only place where I found Lamb meat. Reasonable vegetable choices. Prices are slightly higher compared to other retail stores like Aldiās. Store timings are great. Parking lot is large and has free spots most of the day. I would give 5 stars if they expand the choice of vegetables, drop the price of seafood and increase the number of counters for checkout.

I miss my giant eagle. This parking lot makes me feel like my car is unsafe while inside. When the store is busy it causes drivers to fill up the lot and these spots are way too close. Not only is the walk to the building far but imagine lugging all my groceries for a long walk back to the car. Not fun.Now inside the store made me feel confined. It's very small and not enough room for 2carts to get down the isle together. I wanted to get out quick. I have a bad habit of over spending be lolly gagin and picking up random stuff. Not here I got my 3 items and left as quick as I could. It's a shame they took our giant eagle and if this is what I'm left with I will gladly burn some extra gas to go further out. This is sad.

Ugh! Filthy, overpriced, rude staff and management. This is what happens when you don't care about what your store is like and are just gouging the neighborhood. I'll never stop here again. After all, Heinen's is only four stops down the Rapid.

I shop here nearly everyday and have been for about 2 years. I do not appreciate being asked to furnish my receipt to prove I purchased the 6 items in my bag. If theft is that much of an issue, install security cameras and stop treating loyal customers like criminals. Correction, former loyal customer.
