My husband's dog recently passed away. She was old. We went to just look, and he fell in love with one of the dogs. She has great energy that matches his. They run 8 blocks every day and then chill out in the backyard. They watch TV, and she sleeps at his feet in the bed. She is already a great companion for him. And she doesn't mind my cats.

I've read some reviews on here, and it seems like more compliments than criticism. So they must be doing something right (One of the few agencies ran by the City of Cleveland that can say that). I read and feel for the person who had an entire family of 4 dogs that ended up there. Which seems unusual. But I understand the frustration of only having enough money to release 2 of the 4 dogs that were taken there. It does seem like some kind of accomodations could have been made on your behalf. I am currently unemployed and I am hoping they have a vet that can x-ray my poor little Chihuahua. She's 14, so she's up there in the years. And she's been coughing a lot. It started back in March. And someone suggested that it might be a collapsed trachea. And we treated her with organic honey and within about two weeks the coughing ceased. But it's 3 months later and the coughing is back. And we're wondering if she has a congestive heart causing fluid to form in her lungs. I'm so heartbroken. Prior to losing my job I could take her to the vet immediately, to see if she has a collapsed trachea or a heart issue. And I'm told a simple x-ray would reveal what's really ailing her. I also read some comments on how a few different people were disappointed that they could only see photos of the dogs and not get to see them up close. Well, I do understand that it's a big commitment to adopt a dog. But I also understand how intelligent dogs are. They would see someone they're not familiar with on a daily basis like the people who work at the kennel. And see them paying close attention to a specific dog. Within minutes that dog is adopted and goes away. The dogs would realize that strange people who come in for a visit means someone is likely going out of there to a real home. And whenever the dogs would see people other than the staff, they would get all excited and hyped up. They're incredibly smart animals. Which is why they're such great companions.

Great place to get a dog! They work with you and take the time to help you. They’re very knowledgeable and kind and they know the dogs very well. Our counselor Stacie was a wonderful help and loves what she does! I would recommend and we will go back someday!

I called about a stray female dog that had been hanging around my grandma's house for around two weeks and these folks were VERY responsive. Two employees came out to retrieve the dog about forty minutes after I called it in and they were so gentle with her. The dog was shy and very scared, but they were patient and went slow with her. They made sure she was relaxed and comfortable before loading her up in the van. Her tail was wagging when she left. 😊These individuals really care about animals and for that alone, I wish I could give 10 stars.

The staff was very helpful taking in a dog I found wandering the streets with a collar on (no tag though). They treated the dog well and made the process easy.

I came here in March after I had to surrender a lost beagle in my yard in March. I called daily and went to visit him maybe about 3 days after he was sent here. I was told that he was sick and sent to an outside vet. I expressed interest in adopting this beagle but he was not up for adoption yet. This was on a Friday. Monday I called to ask about the beagle and was told he was transferred and was given a vague answer “he was sent to Parma”. I will never do business with this agency ever again.

I am so Proud of the City of Cleveland, and what they have done for there City Dog Kennel! This is a top notch organization City Dog's, they should be commended for what they do. Theses people really work hard, to save these Dog's. Thank You!

Took all my dogs and could only afford to get 2 out I had four mom,daughter,son and dad. Of course I got the 2 older ones out and by the time I could get the other 2 out I couldn't afford to get them out. You think you could have gave me a break seeing that I had 4 in there but no.

I didn't visit, but the manager was incredibly helpful when I needed information on rehoming a dog. I greatly appreciate her thoughtfulness, time and kindness.
