I got my sweet girl (cat) in November of 2023. The staff was so nice and really cared about the wellbeing and comfort of the animals. It didn’t smell at all! When you think of a shelter I was definitely expecting it to have some kind of smell but it was absolutely spotless in there! I was so pleased with my experience!

She came to us May 2023 and they initially named her sprite but we renamed her Zara Mae and she is the happiest puppy. She’s a great protector. A Year later I am still happy with this addition to my family ❤️

Very friendly staff and clean facility. Of note, the Animal admission area is in Building 3 (I went to Building 1 initially by mistake). Plenty of parking space. I surrendered a gerbil - you call and make an appointment, and there was a $20 surrender fee payable by credit card. They might not pick up the phone right away, but if you leave a message, a staff member does call back within a few hours (at least from my experience) and they call you several times closer to the time to remind you. This was my first time surrendering an animal or visiting APL, but it was overall smooth and hassle-free. Really loved the staff there. Explained the whole process in good detail. Thank you all for what you do!!

I adopted a 10 year old cat from here in April of 2022. Sadly my baby girl Pepper passed in fall of 2023. She was a sweet senior cat and I’m grateful I got to love her for her last year on earth. I hope to adopt many more animals from this place some day. Thank you for all that you do caring for these animals. And I encourage everyone to consider a senior pet. They are so sweet and deserving of love and patience while they’re still here.

We LOVE the APL! They do so much for the community and are always lovely everytime we’ve went. We surrender injured animals and TNR as much as we can, especially being a property manager. This was our most recent surrender and I will be checking on him tomorrow!

The volunteers are amazing and go above and beyond. They're all so loving to fur babies and it's so clean! We adopted 2 cats on the spot! Pricing is excellent and includes microchipping, spay/neuter, food, meds if need be, and shots!!They just opened vet services to the public too.I highly recommend 💕💕💕

Great place for picking out your next pet. The staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and helpful. I was in and out within an hour, with an adorable kitty to bring home. They really make the process for adopting a pet simple. Just an easy form to fill out, followed by a meeting with an adoption specialist and whatever the adoption fee is (currently $50 for an adult cat). They also offer cardboard carriers, if you don't have one with you. I will come back if ever I feel the need to add another pet to my household.

I took my 9 month old kitten in today to see if they could see her. I am low income, I do not have the money to go to an emergency vet clinic. I explained to the receptionist with the bright pink hair about what was going on. She has a bad upper respiratory infection. She is not eating or drinking anything, she just stopped today. She tells me that they can see her on June 21st. I told her that she will not make it until then if that happens. She just gave me another number for low cost clinics. Do these people even care about animals anymore. I have never been through this. They are supposed to help them, not send me away. She needs an antibiotic ASAP. It's ridiculous that if you're low income; you can't help your cat get an antibiotic. I'm so upset right now.

I surrendered my cat, with whom I had lived for eight years, in February 2024 because I had to work abroad. My cat was healthy and active when surrendered. What they did was send my cat to AffoGATO Cat Cafe for profit. I was unaware of this until my visit back to Cleveland in May 2024. My cat is still "serving" as a cat to play with in the cafe, and they do not allow me to visit! I am suing this institution for cheating people who surrender their beloved pets. Don't ever make any donations to this evil institution! They will profit from your love!

I am highly upset with them. I saw 2 puppy's on website went to get them. They would not let me adopt both sisters. One dog per house hold I was told. I love my dogs,I like to adopt sisters I had 3 set of sisters. Never any issues with them. I had 2 pits last. One died 2 years ago other baby is getting older wanted new set of puppies I take very good care of my dogs. HEART BROKEN over this. They would have had a very good home.

Went there to adopt a cat. Everyone was very friendly. All the animals I saw seemed to be well taken care of. I adopted a handsome boy who will be a great addition to our family.

I just adopted jinx and I had an amazing experience. Everyone was nice and helpful! Sadly the dog came back heartworm positive, but am working with the apl to foster to adopt as they undergo treatment for her. I highly recommend coming here for your next baby!!

We got “Weeble” a few months back, he was the last of his siblings. The staff was very transparent about his condition. He has “wobbler’s syndrome”…but let me tell you, it hasn’t stopped him one bit. He thinks he’s 10ft tall and bullet proof. From the moment we brought him home, he’s been a blessing.I promised the staff I’d show pics of him. Here he is. Btw we renamed him Onyx aka “Onny” for short.

This place was honestly fantastic. Clean facility, knowledgeable attentive staff, friendly, etc. I was really happy to adopt a beautiful cat here that's only two years old and so far it's been going very well and much better then expected.. after adopting a stray cat.

I had been feeding a stray for a year, she just had a liter. Not wanting her to go through that again, I took her to the APL to get fixed. What an amazing program! And another today to avoid pregnancy.

I started coming to the cleveland APL clinic for my dog Dodger last year. I can’t shout it enough that these people CARE!! They always love on my dog! They always work with me and they’re so affordable! I would be so stressed out financially if it wasn’t for them. They are so kind and I just love going there and so does my dog Dodger!!!

A great place to go. If you're needing to let your pet go but be aware they do charge a fee non-negotiable up front $50 and that's for a kitten. Anything else? Good luck!

The Cleveland APL is a great asset to the Cleveland area. The employees are knowledgeable and compassionate. The community pet clinic offers affordable care and the veterinarians are pretty amazing!

I explained that I needed a humane trap. The mother of a kitten I had rescued had been spotted. The front desk lady was rude didn’t even look up from her phone while telling me that I needed to drive to the back of the building for traps. The lady with pink hair at the back of the building said she didn’t have any access to process a payment for the trap. Then the lady next to her explained she did and the pink hair girl said even if she could process a payment she couldn’t give me a trap. She said if I’m planning on trapping and not surrendering it to APL then I couldn’t use the trap. She said APL couldn’t guarantee I would bring the trap back. I told her I’m willing to pay the deposit. The pink hair girl then said I couldn’t get a trap without an appointment and they were all booked out through the entire month. It seems that with every solution the other person at the desk had, the lady was adamant that I could not support the mission of APL to help every animal for retaliation and rehoming. She also asked where I lived which I thought was very unprofessional. I don’t think they verify the address of everyone who walks in. Awful customer service. A random person who was surrendering a feral ended up telling me more resources that were very helpful in my pursuit of helping the stray mama kitty I’m looking to save so thank you to the kind fellow Cleveland resident who wasn’t even apart of Cleveland APL.

The staff is wonderful they explain every detail. They really seam to care about the animals! I adopted Cruella, who is 10, with a few health issues. I renamed her Ella, and she is a dream!! Upon leaving the Apl I saw a gigantic rainbow which, for me was a sign from my great dane that she was an angel at the rainbow bridge and this pup was the one!

The APL does an excellent job of helping the homeless animal population. Here are a couple that I've had the privilege of fostering or adopting.

Last year I had two kittens that were in heat. I had called over around the Cleveland area and there were either a long waitlist or extreme pricing if you didn’t require assistance! Apl did wonderful for both of my kittens. They gave them shots and neutered for a reasonable price for two

The APL Staff was very helpful to me I had to surrender 3 Female Adult Cat's and all 3 was Pregnant at the same time they are all sisters Born by same Mom and all became homeless and was living around my house outside..They eventually had their babies at the same time...I have been taking care of them since January 2024 till March 2024...I called the APL office and talked with Joann and you have to schedule appointment first.. I couldn't get an appointment until March 18,2024 it was worth the wait...Then I had their pleasure to spend quality time with 3 Mom's and 7 babies...I did also have a chance to meet Supervisor Val and Liz I would like to say Thank you very much for everything and your Support from all of you have a Blessed day ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗🙂

I tried calling them for my hurt cat bc they do free check ups. I left a voice mail for the clinic bc they was probably busy. I missed they call . So I tried to call back twice . They didn’t answer the first time and the second time they just hung it up… I even waited for an hour after the second voice mail I sent to the front desk saying I was trying to return their call..

This is an amazing organization that we have adopted from in the past and look to do another adoption in the future. If you're looking to adopt a pet, they do a fantastic job of screening, not only the pet but you as well to make sure it's a good match
