I went there to get some treats for my ferrets. The Marshall's Bandit treats were on sale for a great price. This store doesn't have a lot of animals to buy in comparison to other places. They do have quite a bit of treats and different kinds of food though. The staff has always been helpful. They have a very cute little ferret kit in the front of the store. The cage that it was in was better than most of the cages I've seen pet stores keep the ferrets in.

Previously Jack's Pets & Aquarium, I have been going to them for pets, supplies, research and advice for years. There staff has always been attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and responsive to all of my questions & concerns. The Staff has proven to be courteous to the pets that are on hand. Every pet weve nought from them over the years has been healthy with no signs of stress from mishandling. I recommend you give them your consideration if you are looking to add a new pet to your Family.

Used to be Assistant Manager at this location last year. I was actually managing the store, untrained, and doing a great job at it! I chose to leave after they brought in a highly unprofessional Manager that they spent weeks training. She was rude to other employees as well as customers, and doesn't even like animals! I was doing her job while she 'ran errands' on a daily basis, and she was taking credit. On top of abusing her Manager title, she belittled and cursed at employees, and acted disgusted by the animals. I live just down the street so I do still very occasionally shop here. I just feel bad for the animals, as they aren't being properly cared for. They USED to be a priority. Under new management, it seems now they no longer are. Each time I shop here, I wonder what in the world upper management was thinking when bringing this crew of "pet experts" on. They are terribly unknowledgable. They are selling animals labeled as the wrong species, the fish tanks are absolutely atrocious and filled with sick fish and DEAD fish. I asked an employee if anyone there knows how to medicate sick fish, and informed him that almost every single tank should not have fish being sold from it until they are treated. I then explained what to do and dosage seemingly to no avail. That was months ago..I went in today to purchase hamster food and a few Mystery snails. The store was filthy, not one employee greeted me, and every single mystery snail that was pulled from the tank was DEAD! (about 15)NEEDS NEW MANAGEMENT AND CREW who are actually knowledgeable about products and take proper care of the fish and animals.

I've been going to this Jacks for the last 6 years. All of the staff are very knowledgeable & helpful. We have 3 dogs & 2 bearded dragons , all who we shopped (and still shop for) at this location. The store is always clean, the shelves neatly organized, & the animals are all well taken care of. We will continue to be customers. :)

My dog was banned from the store because he had an "accident " in the store. ( which I cleaned up myself )Then they sent some trainee to tell me that my dog is not allowed to the store anymore . It's not WHAT they told me , it's. HOW they told me . Just rude rude rude . I shopped in this overpriced store for 7 years because I am loyal costumer . Obviously they won't care about loyalty . Thankfully we found a better place to shop at pet supplies :) nice people and nice clean store .

Recently purchased a blue iguana from this store, we did not hold him until a less than a week later to find an infestation of mites on him. No other reptiles in our home and all new products for him. The manager did not have many options for us other than to trade him in and have them treat him there, which I had told her I previously treated him and I was only concerned about his scales being infected at this point, which requires a vet. She quickly shut that down and specifically said that the DM would say no. Frustrated, I asked her to pass my number onto the DM and she eventually agreed to pay for a vet appointment after some discussion. I am happy this is getting taken care of in a timely manner, but this could have been avoided. Always check your reptiles before purchasing.

Great selection of everything pet. Went for Betta fish stuff. Had everything and plenty of options. Prices were reasonable. Staff was super helpful in getting me what I needed and providing advice for proper care.

Clean and the staff was friendly/helpful. I find that most things here tend to be much more expensive than other pet stores and not a lot of variety. But this location was nice!

If you are going there for fish, turn around and go to Monfort Aquarium or Aquatics and Exotics. Their employees and their supposed "training" is a joke. They are selling Malaysian trumpet snails as Assassin snails, which is a huge issue if you are familiar with these species. My boyfriend and I purchased a delicate species of catfish and the employee mishandled them every step of the netting and bagging process. Said employee also blew her own breath into the bag instead of letting air into the bag!! Her response was "It doesn't hurt the fish". C02 and Oxygen are completely different things! The employee was rude with us the entire time she was netting and bagging our fish because we tried to show her how to do it properly. You will see dead fish and fish with ich inside of EVERY tank there. I also watched one of their employees cleaning the ferret cage, with the ferrets inside of a modified trash can. The ferret stuck it's face out of a hole in the trash can, and the employee picked up the trash can and SLAMMED it down to make him stop.If you are looking for experienced "pet experts", you will NOT find it at this Pet Valu. I'm sure the store is great if you go to wash your dog and buy dog food, but the way we were treated so rudely for wanting to have our fish bagged properly will make us NEVER go back!

I have never had an experience like this before and hope I never do again. About 1 week ago my fiancé and I went to Petvalu without much of a plan. We have a 20 gallon tank and ended up falling in love with a gerbil that PetValu was selling. We bought the gerbil and everything else that was needed (bedding, food, water reservoir, wheel, and a comfy place for it to hide). We noticed that his eyes were squinty at the pet store, but didn’t think much of it. After coming home with our new friend we set up his tank and did hours of research to ensure that we would be responsible owners. Over the next few days the gerbils eyes never opened and he got sicker and sicker. We thought that perhaps he was allergic to the bedding, so we swapped it out. We thought that it may be his food so we changed it. Within a week he died. We had done everything we could but we didn’t even have enough time with him to take him to a veterinarian.The store employees were nice and friendly, however I’m appalled that they would sell an animal that is either sick or within a week of dying of old age. Any pet store worth it’s salt would refuse to sell sick or dying animals. I’m concerned that PetValu doesn’t pay attention to the health of the animals they claim to care about. Suffice to say, I will never be back.

I have been meaning to write a review.I visited this store about 3 weeks ago, Stephany and Christy really helped me. I was confused on what to feed my dog since he has allergies and both of these ladies helped me so patiently. They were very respectful and nice. If I lived around here this would be my new store. I love having them in the neighborhood. Great staff and helpful. BUT I wish the stuff would wear masks. I’m high risk. I love having a place close by. But I need for their staff to wear masks otherwise I might have to change to a new store..... ☹️

This place is horrible! Walked in and saw a rat laying there dying where everyone can see. I mentioned it to 2 workers who were standing there and they just walked away!! Jacks does not take care of their animals. Definitely will never buy an animal from them. I've had friends who have gotten very sick animals from here as well. Do not support this place!

Great quality store and awesome customer service, especially from one particular associate Demario Johnson. He showed excellent knowledge of all animals in the store and answered any and all questions I had. Overall it’s a great location to shop and a great business.

Visited the store and the manager and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They take very good care of their animals as if they were their own pets. Would definitely recommend to any novice or experienced pet owner.

their sales staff is always very pleasant and always ask if we need any help with getting our heavy items to the car they also have the cutest little kittens there all the time and I always make sure that I donate to the pet shelter that they sponsor

Store clerk was pushy and rude. She would not let me see a pet outside the cage unless I was "ready to buy it". Her attitude made me take my business elsewhere. You can't choose a forever pet without even seeing if you'd be compatible.

I only would go here if absolutely needed. This place has robbed me of money when it comes to buying feeder fish or crickets. The heavy set manager with blond hair is terrible and would not return my money to me after charging my card 3 times on 1 transaction.

Decent selection of fish, although had three die within 7 days, took them back, and back in the fish area they had enough dead fish on the counter that it looked like they making sushi or some other fish stew. They replaced my fish and they are doing okay now.

Rude sales person she told me my grandson had to b 18 to touch a bunny. I called her supervisor who informed me that was not true. She was so abrasive that my grandson left the store in tears. What kind of idiot acts like this we planned ro purchase a bunny and all the set up . never again will we go to this location . she should b fired

over a year ago we started 2 fish tanks and had a rough start. lost a few but then we asked the staff what to do. they were knowledgeable and more than happy to help! They tested the water, made suggestions and the return policiy impressed me even if we did bring 5 of the original fish back. havent had a problem maintaining my tanks since! they even take my questions over the phone. The angle fish are bigger than my palm and i have 2 mollys that are HUGE!

great place to get stuff like dog food or shampoo if your in a hurry. I also love the fact that they have a dog washing station that's only $5 with shampoo and drying stuff included.

Prices are ridiculous. Got charged $65 dollars for pet food that cost 45-50 everywhere else. Product has dust on the shelf. I guess they small and dont get much business. I will not ever go back.

Manger abuses the animals.just came home from petvalu and that place has really gone down hillfirst, it smelled horrible, which is surprising considering the dog wash is right at the entrance and should smell nice.second, the manager, Stephanie, said at least ten times "those hamsters are mean" while pushing them around with the plastic house they hide in.and to top it off she purposely flipped the box with our hamster in it to torture the animal one more time before handing it off.I'm not lying, she flipped the box as she was handing it over so you could hear a thud as the hamster hit the bottom of the box. there was no reason to flip the box unless you meant to hurt the animal inside.nothing about this manager is professional and she seems to enjoy poking and messing with the smaller animals.she's a sick person.

Came in for cat food after work. Pushy store clerk insisted on following me around the store like a bum. The worst part is, I was still dressed in my nice appearing work office clothes, so I don't know whom they are particularly catering to.
