Years ago, I'm thinking about 4 years. My husband took in a stray cat, well turned out she was pregnant and gave birth to 3 bobtail kittens. I'm not an animal in the home person BUT after taking the kittens and mother down to them they told me since they are bobtail and not many people want to adopt b.c of health reasons and $$$ vet bills they would most likely be put down. They however helped me get to the neuter scooter and got momma cat and all kittens fixed plus 1 of the kittens belly hernia. I was supposed to just foster them but never heard anything so we just kept them all. Family took the other two kittens later on and we still kept 1. Gizmo is a beautiful bobtail who has never had any serious or costly vet bills and I'm so thankful she is apart of our family still. 💛 Everyone needs to be responsible and not shame a place that does the best they can with what they are given. There is MANY stray cats in this town. If you are going to let your cat outside AT LEAST get them fixed!!!!

Been waiting for a call back to help some Cold homeless animals but not one person seems to care so just close this place down.shame on you I will go to conical meeting close get people who care

I have donated 4 cat carriers after I called first. They tried their best for these beautiful cats and kittens. But people needs to be educated about controlling the population. Not enough homes. I kept the last 3 drop offs. But now I have 8. I can't kept no more. I'm a senior.

They will kill cats and kittens shortly after getting them, without looking for homes. I have given my number to them and offered to foster animals while they look for homes but they have never called to ask me to do so. So if they say they have no options, it's untrue. Now they are refusing to allow someone to adopt a Mama cat who was taken from her kittens. Another rescue was given the kittens and when they discovered that the Guernsey Humane Society had taken Mama, they wanted to reunite them and adopt Mama as well. But Sandy is refusing to allow it and now will not even return phone calls. These people should be shut down.

Great place to take feral cats. If residents would take proper care of their pets. We wouldn't need a facility like this. My neighborhood is overrun with feral cats. People feed them thinking they're helping. Exact opposite. Cats are domestic animals and hurt, and sometimes cause extinction of other animals. If pet owners were responsible we wouldn't have roadkill cats,poisoned cats or over populated feral cats roaming around. Be responsible. I'm tired of my property being a litter box.

We have to give a HUGE thank you to the ladies at the Humane Society of Guernsey. After a stray cat had a litter of kittens and left them in our barn the ladies agreed to take them in. I do not think the kittens would have made it without your generosity! Thank you from the bottom our ours hearts!

I have gotten all my kittens and cats from here, Sandy takes great care of them....my cats live long healthy lives. (Veterinarian care is very important, as Sandy would tell you.) Sandy works very hard and long hours, changing liter......there is always fresh food and water.

They work hard to place cats in good homes. Calls are returned as time allows, due to the need to work with people and cats who are being surrendered. Will refer you to other agencies if they are out of space. We worked with Sandy who was wonderful to us and caring to our cats.

I'm just going to say this..the lady who answered the phone today was do rude! I'm in desperate need of placing my 2 cats because I am leaving for work in Kansas and can not take them with me. When I tried to explain to her my situation she was extremely rude and stated that she has someone coming in to adopt a cat and said she would call me back and stated she had my number and would call back and just hung up on me. Well she never did call me back. So now I understand why people take their pets to the drop off after hours. I'm not just going to dump the cats off some where.

The humane society of Guernsey says they don't answer to anybody and will not let you have an indoor outdoor cat. They believe that cats can only survive indoors and that if I don't like it I can go elsewhere. It is very unprofessional and extremely unsatisfied that they don't provide adoption for people that live in the country

If I could give a zero I would this place is a joke. I wanted to adopt an older cat fell in love with him filled out application and went to turn in to be told she didn't have time for me that day. So I waited and called today for her to deny me because I was pregnant( yet I wouldn't be handling the litter) and because I have a 4 year old rottwieler who is service trained and loves cats. I am sorry I haven't been given any restrictions on animals and have had cats around babies before. I have never had a problem with my dog with cats cause she doesn't bother them. So I called Zanesville shelter explained situation and they told me to come on down and find myself a cat that they would have no problem adopting one to me. So in point don't waste your time going here to get a cat.

This is a KILL shelter. They kill cats and kittens that are surrendered to them. There is nothing humane about the services they provide. They should be required to make that known to the general public. Especially the people that bring them cats and kittens.

She genuinely cares, not just a drop off shop... She actually cares and follow up calls as well, i dont think ive ever met a more kind hearted person, as Sandy is at the Humane Society.

Tried to deny me my cat back. Said she was starved umm no she eats all the time. Then she had the nerve to say "do you want your cat back?" Ummmm yes yes I do. And proceeded to basically say they frown on farmers for having to many animals.

We had a tenant move out and abandon their cats. The Humane Society showed up very quickly and picked up the cats. Thank you so much.
