This is a clean grocery store that carries local produce, meats, cheeses, teas, salsa, chips, honey, syrup and other products! Some prices are higher than chain stores but some are the same or less. It is convenient because it is a smaller store but has everything a regular grocery store has. Some different name brands but so far I like the things I have tasted! The workers new some of the locals by name. They said hi to us but they don't know our name😁 Friendly service, clean store! Plastic or paper bags.

Only gave a 1 cause couldn't give a 0. Dirty nasty place and the management are the rudest individuals I have ever met. Stay away.

I really like their fresh meats. I've gone to Walmart, Kroger, and Aldi for pork chops and when I get home they all have an some sort of odor! I can honestly say that has never happened with Seaman's. I can always count on their meats to be extremely fresh. I'm never going anywhere else for meat again!Only downside is everything else in the store is notably more expensive. Their selection is much smaller as well. That's understandable with them being a smaller store though.

Seamans is one of the last few old Athens family buisnesses. The prices are higher than the other corporate groceries, but they do have decent meats and other local products and stuff that the competition do not stock. They have always been a west side staple buisness. They also have a decent beer selection. I love family buisnesses and I went to school with a couple of the Seamans and if I am over on that side of town and need something I will definitely swing by and pick up the items needed. I just wish that more of the family run grocery stores were still around between Seamans, C&E IGA, Bob's Pick Pack, Super Duper, all were locally owned and it's sad to see all of them are gone now except for Seamans. I Hope that they are around for decades to come and it reminds me of when I was a kid and going to Seamans it has not changed much. I have never had a problem with any of the staff as well like some have mentioned before. My experience is that they have always been polite, helpful, and respectful so I think that those who have had issues with staff just had sour grapes over something petty and trivial when I have been going there for 40 + years to the students 4 or 5 years who are just being petty and entitled.I love that they have been able to stay in buisness when all the other locally owned grocers have all closed because of the saturation of the corporate grocery stores such as Krogers, Aldi, Wal-Mart and Save A Lot. All of them have their share of garbage employees who should be fired but will probably just play the victim role and file a lawsuit against the corporate store because they were fired because they are gay, black, Asian, etc and not because they are just worthless, lazy, woke, entitled, cry babies that get triggered by everything and everyone. I tend to try and avoid the woke buisnesses that are for the identity politics and tend to just don't care about the customers just themselves but thankfully not st Seamans since they typically have highered locals who know better when they were been in buisness longer than xkp,.p

I love this store! Having easy access to local Athens county meat is great. Some fruit and dairy from Athens as well. This was one of the only stores during the pandemic to stick to the mask mandates and I appreciated that so much. Great deli counter and lunches to go through the week as well. They bought my long term business by being responsible business owners. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff too. Can't get better meat anywhere in town. Period. All the whiny "muh freedumbs" people leaving one star reviews are idiots.

Great, local grocer. A little pricier than larger stores like Kroger but there aren't many local grocers anymore. This one has been going strong for something like fifty years. Great to support local business. My go-to for quick trips. Also, they have the best meat selection and prices in town and will butcher to order. They have a great selection of local made products as well, especially tea, coffee, and bakery goods and an excellent selection of beer and wine.

Always a clean store and friendly staff. They carry the best Milk around. I make it a point to go there for the kids milk. Prices are usually higher than krogers but the selection is good and the milk and meat is amazing!

My sister and her son came here to shop and because she had a disagreement with a worker there online awhile back ago they kicked her and her son out after shopping and waiting for them to cash out and not serving them, kids don’t deserve to be apart of whatever petty unprofessional behavior this is. I have shopped here for a long time, I Will never shop here again!

The store is okay if you need to just grab something but I would definitely never do my entire grocery shopping there due to the fact that their prices are outrageous I've lived here all my life I've grown up with this store and seen it change very slightly but it's pretty much maintained and retained the same always been overpriced and always been just a place to grab something the only thing I can say that they do have a good selection of better Meats Deli products and some baked goods

They say that they close at 7pm but trust me, if you really need something you'd better get there at 6:45pm. Otherwise a nice store. I just don't care for sketchy store hours.

Compact supermarket with a surprisingly large selection. Their meat section is outstanding - high quality, locally sourced.

I always go here when I visit my mother to buy deli meats that can not be bought in KY. They also stock a lot of local beers, local breads, cookies, treats, granola, and dairy that can't be beat. A bit expensive but it's worth it. I wish they would stock more Crumbs products because 1/2 the time I go they are out. I guess they are pretty popular.

Daily specials are nice, but if you forget your 16oz beverage the clerk won't remind you to get one.

If you are going to close before 7, change your hours on Google to reflect that. Rather than sending someone to the parking lot 10 minutes prior to close to tell people they cannot come in. We literally needed one item. We could’ve been in and out in 3 minutes.

Long time local grocer. Easy and plentiful parking and also on the bus route. Clean and orderly store shelves and displays. Sale flyers are readily available at the front of the store when you grab your cart or basket. Sale prices are clearly marked in the store as well. It's a fairly small store, but they carry a wide selection of products for a store of this size. There are easy to navigate aisles and checkout lanes.Personal service is to be had here, not like the big chains where you can struggle to even find someone to ask for assistance. A wide selection of healthy and local products in an abundance of varieties are carried here in a one stop shop. Convenient to fill up at the store's Marathon station in the same lot at a competitive price to other local suppliers.Various local farms provide produce, bakery items, cheese, jams, jellies, milk, dairy items and teas. Other local products you can get here such as natural cleaners, local wines and beers are also available. The in store bakery and deli items are fresh and tasty. Sandwiches from the deli are made to order from what you see in the case and fresh veggies. The roasted chicken is good and convenient.Good quality store and name brand products are on the shelves, coolers and freezers. You can get most everything you need here, or just get a few things you are missing, staples or get food to eat right now.The meat department has good specials and carries locally raised meats from several local farms, including chicken beef, pork and turkey. Custom meat cutting is available free of charge from the butcher when you call ahead.Seniors get a special discount day on Wednesdays! Simply bring your Golden Buckeye card or proof of age and just tell the cashier to get a ten percent discount on eligible products (no tobacco or alcohol, lottery etc.). SNAP EBT benefits (food stamps) accepted here. Need help getting your purchase out? Just ask.

Great little store. Just moved to the area and was told about Seaman's by a friend. This will be my new regular shopping spot. Great selection, not a corporate store, fresh local items. I love it. Not to mention the people there are super friendly. Bye bye Kroger.

First off, they are a bit pricey, but if you like to support your local farmers it's a great place to shop. While their variety is about average, they have products you won't really find elsewhere. Locally made butter and honey. Can't go wrong there. Plus everyone that works there are really nice and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

Great selection of local pasture-raised meats, all clearly labelled with the farm of origin. The produce is a little variable, ranging from ok to excellent, but always worth a look. There is a wide selection of beer, wine, and cider, with plenty of local options. The staff at Seaman's are always a pleasure to deal with. Genuinely friendly and helpful always.

Awesome local grocer with a good selection of essentials. Has a decent alcohol selection and a great meats department in my opinion. Prices are about on par with the area kroger. Worth a check out if you're looking for groceries but don't want to deal with the state street traffic around 4 or 5

Seaman's is a great place to shop for fresh produce and meats. Their staff is very helpful and friendly. They do not carry the widest variety of brands, but all the staples are there. They also stock products from around the area. I've been impressed with their selection of wines and beer, including all the local breweries. Stop in and take a look around.

We LOVE Seaman's! It's the best place to buy meat in Athens. They sell local (as in Athens county!) Beef, pork, lamb, and chicken. All of it very competively priced with the mass produced stuff (which they also sell). They have high quality produce and some of it local when available too. As far as the regular groceries, they have everything a grocery store should, prices may be higher than the big chains for some items but you are supporting a local small business that also directly supports local farmers and ranchers. I'm a loyal customer.

My go-to local place for meat and occasionally local dairy and other staples. I appreciate when they ask other customers to mask up, and it's never been in a rude way. Most of the staff are pretty friendly and helpful.

This is probably a Staples of Athens. I don't get there as much as I did because it is not close to my residence. But I put forth an effort to get there because of their meats and Deli service. The guys back there always make you feel special. No matter how small the order you still get the same warm greeting and service. The girls at checkout always a smile and they usually remember me no matter how less frequent I am there. I am thankful at this store has survived all these years. Always try to support the local businesses. Without the small ones. It would be so much more problems going to the big box ones

It's really small but they mind their produce well, have local meat products, and an excellent selection of alcohol and somewhat obscure items (fresh bean sprouts, tofu, tahini) for the size and location. They are a great small grocery to live near. A lot of locals shop there when they don't want to go to East State Street and many students use it for most of their groceries.

Prices are high but the convenience is usually worth it for small trips. Their lack of concern for proper dates on their fresh area products i.e. packaged meat not marked down until the day AFTER the sell-by, raises serious concerns for me about their overall food safety. For a small grocery place fresh aside I'll shop there.

A nice quaint grocery store. Prices are obviously a bit higher than Walmart. But it has a convenient location so you don’t have to travel across town if you live on the west side of Athens. Also, the meat section is the cheapest I’ve found in town so far with nice quality.
