Whit's frozen custard is as good as it gets, and the Ashland location is no exception. But, in addition to great custard, they have a small, but excellent menu of other items, including great hot dogs. What really sets this location apart is their service. I can't say enough about the quality of the staff. I don't know the people who work there and I don't live in the area, but when I stopped by while on a short road trip, I was overwhelmed by the friendly, professional staff. If you like ice cream, and you're in the Ashland area, you should make it a point to stop in. You will thank me later :).

Great frozen custard as good if not better than the WI based franchise. We also had hot dogs. The hot sauce (chili) was perfect as was the Slaw Dogs. They have their own bottled recipe for Root Beer & Orange soda (see pictures) the root beer was great the orange soda was too sweet and . . . meh. They also have frozen custard 🎂 cakes and dipped custard on a stick. All in all a good time was had by all. NOTE: Indoor seating capacity=16. Outdoor seating capacity approximately 12 (via 2 picnic tables). Outdoor seating is covered.

This is a little gem!Never having tasted frozen custard (or as we renamed it "fro-tard") we knew we had to stop in to try it.And we weren't disappointed much smoother that ice cream, this has a almost a velvety texture and is so heavenly rich.We all loved our desserts!We'll be back for sure, next time we're visiting AU.

My very first time coming here and definitely not a good experience. Didn't understand the menu very much and asked one simple question and apparently it was hilarious because all the workers could not stop laughing even at the window they were still laughing. To have christian music playing, no one has a Christian attitude. Being stuck up and thinking you're doo doo doesn't stink isn't very christian. Owner probably is christian but not the workers.

I hate to leave these kinds of reviews, but since new ownership, we haven't had a good trip to get ice cream. It seems really expensive. I do understand costs but yikes. While we didn't complain, we have yet to get the correct order.

3 times now I’ve ordered a whitzer, paid extra for pecans and cookie dough bites and all 3 times it wasn’t blended and there was just a few pecans and cookie dough bites on top. Not sure why they charge me extra when I didn’t even get what I ordered. When I mentioned it to the girl her reply was “oh”.

Besides the girl at the counter, I received a negative response. The one Whits in Mansfield has dairy free options available in bowls and cones but the owner refused to sell us any in cones and kept insisting on us buying a pint. Why would I buy a pint for a little boy?Then, she refuses to put my order in a waffle bowl saying it doesn’t come in one. She has signs all over about love and Jesus yet she was not very friendly at all. Way to lose business. Will not be coming back at all.

Rick and Lori are amazing business owners. They put their heart into making great ice cream. Their customer service is amazing too. Our freezer always has between 2-4 quarts of Whits in it. The best there is!

I'll never eat regular ice cream again. FRESH frozen custard is smoother, more flavorful and less calories.The staff is so sweet and helpful. The owner is very accommodating and family orientated.Just a wonderful place all around.

I have been there at least 20 times. I agree, the custard is great! It's a clean, friendly place. The kids working there are easily confused and you never know what you are going to get. Sometimes you get exactly what you want in terms of your order being correct and not running over the sides or half empty. Other times, you never know.

Whit's is the best ice cream/custard shop around. For starters, the owners are fantastic, very friendly, patient and knowledgeable. The flavor and topping options are expansive, along with having classic and seasonal options. They also have Bridget's Brew, which is coffee and custard with a few flavor options to add (toasted marshmallow, cupcake, pumpkin, etc); it was a perfect fall pick-me-up while the kids ate their treats. My son had a classic "whitser" (like a mcflurry or blizzard from DQ, only better) in Reeses, and my daughter had Andes Mint custard with crushed candy canes on top. I can't gush enough about how good this place is! This will be my families go-to from now on.Kid-friendliness: The owners were very kind and patient with my children. They talked to them like people (many places don't), gave samples and kindly helped them decide on their choices.

My son and I waited in the drive thru line from 7:20pm to 8:15pm. We got to the menu to order, and the girl said they were closed and could not take our order. We waited in line for almost an HOUR. Very poor customer service and if they weren’t so SLOW, we would have been able to order well before they closed! There are plenty of other ice cream stands and we will not be back! This is NOT how you treat your customers.Went back to Whit’s recently after they changed ownership. The ice cream is good, but I don’t understand why you can’t mix the ingredients ALL THE WAY through the Whitster? You only mix the top half. Also, I understand the cost of living had gone up, but I was charged $12.25 for two SMALL whitsters! That is ridiculous! I can go to the Red Barn and get a medium waffle cone and a small milkshake for $7! I can’t continue to support this business anymore! Good luck!

I grew up around a Whits ice cream shop as a kid, but we moved away and I haven't had it in years. We were in the area and stopped by and my husband got to try Whits for the first time. It was incredible, we got their Flavor of the Week "Penguin Tracks" and it was so yummy! Two scoops was plenty for both of us to share and it was delicious. Staff was also very friendly. Would definitely recommend!

The bomb! Had raspberry, hot fudge, macadamia Whitser- like blizzard or flurry. It was delicious. Best frozen custard I ever had. Pulled pork sandwich was hearty and tasty, too! Only thing I am upset about is that it is an hour from where I live.

This scenario describes 3 of my last 4 experiences with this place.After waiting in line for 45 minutes (because there is no way to get out of line once you’re in line) I was told they were out of basically everything they sell. I order what I can with what they have and I receive an incorrect order. They take an exceptionally long time to scoop ice cream and take my money - even though when I looked in there were 4 people working. I understand running out of inventory at the end of the day, but there is NO reason for the terrible service.I will not be going back.

Love this place! The peanut butter cookie sandwich with cookie dough Custard in the middle was out-of-this-world. Everything was so clean in the ice cream shop, even the restroom was exceptionally clean which is very rare. The workers were very friendly and helpful! 😊

The frozen custard is reasonably priced and you get a lot of it. The best flavor has to be the chocolate.They have a few flavors a week and do a good job of disinfecting between weeks. If you have an allergy to one of the flavors of the week, I would suggest not getting any.

Love going here with my wife and our dog :) The first time we came, we thought the loud traffic would be a buzzkill with such a busy intersection, but it never seems to be a bother when we sit outside. Whit's Frozen Custard is hand's down, one of the best places in town for dessert! Absolutely delicious frozen custard. The staff is always on the ball and the owners are the friendliest people on the planet. In the summer, they have great outdoor seating.

This is five star custard without a doubt. Ashley was very customer-service oriented and did a great job. We drove 30 minutes though, for the flavor-of the-day or the flavor-of-the-week (we would have settled for one or the other) and they didn't have either. Some more help was needed behind the counter because as good as Ashley and her co-worker were, they didn't have time to wait on customers AND make custard. Ashley gets 5 stars and the owner gets 2 stars.🙂

The melted ice cream tasted good. The service was slow but I understand short staff and new people. THE PROBLEM: The two banana splits and Hawaiian Luau were mostly melted WHEN they handed them to us. They were already running over the sides. We have a short drive to home and we had ice cream all over. By the time we got home it was running over my legs and onto our new car seats, dripped across the garage floor even with multiple napkins under them. Got a plate to put them on before taking them in the house. It took a long time to make them. Makes me think the ice cream was just sitting around for a while before we got them.

We were excited because we love custard. We ordered a large chocolate milkshake with almonds and got a watered down tasteless drink with almonds. Besides the large being the size of a small or medium shake, the shake itself was runny mess.
