I took my new dog here, since this is where we’ve always gone. Dr Southard retired and the new vet is not as personable.In fact, a male with no name tag (who turned out to be the new vet) entered the room and played with my dog. Never introduced himself (basic manners) and proceeded to administer kennel cough med and left the room. Didn’t thank me for coming, nothing. I had to stick my head out and ask if we were done!

We have been taking our pets here for quite some time and really like the attention we get from the veterinarians. The prices are great, we are told the price and that is what we pay no hidden costs

Slight double standard, or just not paying attention but I have 5 little Chihuahua. They canceled my older dogs heartworm meds because he needs a test to see if they're working every 12 month. Had no problem sending me the other 4 boxes for my other dogs Even though they are past due for a test to see if the meds work. If they do have heartworm, the meds will kill them......why would they still send them?

The staff is wonderful. We’ve been bringing our dogs and cats here for years. They always do a thorough exam. They take the time to answer questions and offer options for care. They have been so patient with our skittish dog, always taking the time to let him get comfortable before beginning the exam. Their pricing is very fair and we’ve never had a problem getting an appointment when we needed one.

They charge you monthly if you have your meds ordered from Chewy. 10 bucks a month to process my dogs prescriptions. Staff is unprofessional and veterinarian dismissive. Do not recommend!

Absolutely cannot go wrong with Alexandria Animal Hospital! Dr Southard and Dr Jenkins are in my opinion two of the best vets in the world!!! They truly care about the animals and love their jobs. I refuse to use ANY other veterinarian, but have too for reproductive services.

Once the business changed owners in 2022, it is horrible! They pulled the "your cat has a tooth that needs pulled & we can do cleaning at same time". I picked up my cat, and attending vet said there was NOTHING wrong with his tooth, and nearly broke his jaw trying to pull it. He wasnt sure what the other vet "saw" that made her think it wasn't a healthy tooth. After paying a $350 dental cleaning bill, I'm pretty sure what she saw was dollar signs!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE… clinic has recently changed hands. Nothing professional about this operation now. Brought our dog for a dental cleaning for an appointment scheduled weeks in advance. Upon arrival we were barely greeted although there were two staff members at the desk. When we were additional medical records were requested (which is not the problem). We coordinated getting the medical records and waited for the better part of the next hour in the car with our dog. Here is where the problem begins. When we go back in to touch base found ourselves in an adversarial environment. Whispered conversations between staff members and then approached by the Vet. This meeting was as unprofessional as it gets. The conversation was highly defensive on his part regarding procedures and new ownership. He apparently thought we had a problem with him and were questioning his procedures. The conversation escalated (why we still are not sure) to the point he ordered us off the property and followed us to the parking lot. Threats of trespassing etc. A point for you to consider.., if this is how he treats people imagine how he would treat your vulnerable pet. Unbelievable experience and not in a good way.

Went downhill this year (2022). I won't be back.The previous doctor was a caring person. The new one is a bit of a nut and the whole staff bad mouth customers and the previous doctor. Completely unprofessional. The price doubled as well, for half the service and a small fraction of the professionalism.

Always a great visit with Dr. Southard. He is beyond knowledgeable and experienced, and knows what is wrong or right with your animals without all these unnecessary tests. I would recommend him 10/10 times to all my family and friends. The staff is also very friendly and welcoming. Best vet in Ohio.

We've been to just about every vet in Licking County trying to find a decent vet. Finally found Alexandria Animal Hospital, they're the best around. Been going there for years now. They're flexible about my dogs special needs, won't charge you for unnecessary things, they're honest, caring, clean and they know what they are doing. I refuse to take my dog anywhere else and highly recommend Alexandria to anyone looking for a good vet! You won't be disappointed!

We have gone to this vet office for all of our pets for 7 years. They do a great job with all our pets. Recently our dog began to bleed and her eating pattern changed quickly. They put her in for surgery the very same day we called. I found this amazing. Additionally, they always work with you on pricing- as in being honest about what’s necessary and what you are comfortable with. In this case, the vet believed she had mouth cancer. He did not talk us into a biopsy because he said whether it was cancer or benign, didnt change the prognosis in our dogs case. So no need to charge us for an unnecessary test. They have done this type of thing before with the pets.

My cat was spayed by another vet a few days ago. My vet told me to go here if there was an emergency as he’s not open on the weekends. I called to see about bringing her in and they told me “we don’t do emergencies and we’re not accepting new patients right now”. Perhaps you shouldn’t be labeled an animal hospital if you refuse new patients and don’t take emergencies.

The best place for anything pet related. I wish I could say that our visit was a happy one but our friend was having her very old boxer put to sleep. Poor guy was in the best hands for his trip to the rainbow bridge. The staff here are the most caring I have ever encountered at a vet office. My friend takes her dogs here, and although it is a long drive, their visit rates are still the lowest around, and they take such a genuine personal interest in each pet. They are professional and work with the owner in all concerns. Based on my friend's experience with her two dogs, I highly recommend these folks if they are in your vicinity, or even just close enough to consider.

Brought my dog aspen here to have her surgery scheduled or stone removal and they are gettin her in Monday and they had the best price all around! This will now be her new doctor! He was awesome explained everything to me well and I have major confidence in him!
