Black color French fries were brought to the cafe on the second floor. Such french fries can only be made with very old black butter. I asked for a golden one, the waitress said that they always have such a black one. They remade it, brought it raw soaked in oil. Previously worked in a cafe. I’ll tell the chef a secret - deep-fried oil must be changed to fresh. The oil in this cafe has not been changed for a long time. It is extremely old and harmful. Therefore, the potato turns out to be disgusting smelly and black. And when it was remade, they simply did not fry it for the necessary time, but dipped it in oil for a short time. The use of such old oil is prohibited, it is extremely harmful to health. Even in McDonald's they monitor quality butter, but in this cafe they don't. Deep-frying is also used not only for potatoes, but also for other dishes, such as chicken. Do not eat anything deep fried at this cafe.The strawberries in the fruit salad were white unripe and the strawberries should be red.

A little bit of everything for anyone from a newbie to a health nut! I personally love the cafe upstairs where you get a nice view of Highland Square art district. The patio is lovely in the summer and fall. My favorite drink is the green turmeric smoothie. This place always leaves me feeling a little bit more healthy than before my visit!! Highly recommend!

I absolutely love the restaurant on the top level! Reasonably priced, whole, clean, delicious food. Not to mention the added bonus of live music fri/sat night! Great date place for any time of the day! Cafe- My husband and I have been coming here faithfully for years. We love it. The food is delicious and I have loved that they restrict certain ingredients. They have a lot of gluten free and dairy free options too which is great!But I’ve been holding back on asking them a question for a while now that I finally asked tonight. “What do you fry your food in?”For a place that has reverse osmosis water, no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors or coloring, among other amazing things .. like the fact they are “free of harmful chemicals and preservatives”I am shocked to say they use Canola Oil to fry their food. This is a highly refined, genetically modified (GMO) crop. Look I realize if you’re getting fried food it isn’t necessarily healthy anyways but why not use beef tallow, or coconut oil like your fried cauliflower?The health world is moving away from seed and vegetable oils and toward healthier options and people are looking for restaurants free from these oils. There is an app called the “seed oil scout” that I hope to see your restaurant on one day as a safe place to eat free from harmful fry oils.

The deli offers a decent selection of products and their drink selection is extensive.I used to regularly shop at this store when I lived in the area and enjoyed it at that time. However, I recently visited the store and was very underwhelmed. This store's bulk herb selection is abysmal. I hope that the young guy working in the supplement aisle was filling in that day as he knew very, very little. Additionally, the woman at the deli seemed very perturbed that I dared to approach her to ask about a deli product and quickly passed me off to the other side of the deli. That person then sent me back to the woman as the product was on her side of the deli.This is not how I remember it. The staff were always friendly and knowledgeable and I never had a hard time finding products (aside from bulk herbs). Something about this store has unfortunately changed for the worse.

The atmosphere was wonderful. What a great day I had, my first there. It was beautiful to be outside. The drinks were good and the little snack I had was different but good. Also, I hot to see a great group perform. My visit was Friday 7/22/2022. The group that performed that night, I forgot their name. Anyways, I'd like come to come back!

Normally love this place but went today and literally walked out bc the wait staff actively avoided giving us service at the bar. For 15 min, while sitting at the bar as i have many times, 4 different people walked past multiple times and paid no attention to customers clearly waiting to order a drink (and food).

Mustard Seed has been one of my favorite places ever since I moved to Akron four years ago. They have a variety of vegan options both in the cafe and in the grocery store. A majority of the items in the cafe can be made vegan, both drinks and food. My favorites are the vegan Avocado BLT, cauliflower wings, and honey mustard fried chicken sandwich, and truffle fries. The grocery store has pretty much any vegan product you could need. They have a premade food section. Some are prepackaged and others are more of a deli type section with various types of foods. One half is mostly vegan/vegetarian and the other includes meat and dairy based products. Definitely recommend the vegan chicken salad wrap (or just a container of their vegan chicken salad) or the BBQ tofu ribs. Only have one very minor complaint that may be specific to me. With the vegan chicken salad wrap, they recently started putting the toothpick in the middle, connecting the two wraps to one another. It's always annoying when I am trying to pull just one out to eat and then have to pull both out and detach them from one another just to put the other one back in the bag. Don't know who thought that was a good idea, but i'll let it slide due to the overwhelmingly positive experience in every other aspect.

It was our first time to be there after going to Deck the Hall Stan Hywet. We thought they were pretty good as reasonably priced food with a good portion. We ordered Avocado Toast with Sweet Potato Fries and Chicken Sandwich and Garlicky Greens.

Love the grocery options here. The lady who works the vitamin counter is awesome. The restaurant upstairs has the best burger. Clean cooking and fresh ingredients for the win.

Cafe - I’m going into this rating with grace and the assumption the cafe is severely understaffed. My wife and I have not been to this mustard seed cafe before and wanted a quick drink to go and carry on with our day. My wife ordered a hot beverage and I ordered a smoothie. We waited 25 minutes for those two drinks. The employees were very kind but the wait time was too much for us. It didn’t seem too busy but we haven’t been there before so I can’t confirm if they were really busy or not. I don’t think we will try to come to the cafe again with the chance of this occurrence happening again.

Mustard Seed Cafe is one of my favorite places to dine/drink at in Akron. The staff is friendly and the food and drinks are delicious. With outdoor patio seating on seating inside the experience is great. Definitely have to try the Brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The lunch and dinner are just as good as well.

Today was first time at mustard seed and probably my last. I had my service dog with me ( with her identification with her) I was confronted by manager. I showed dogs Id. I thought everything was good. Yet Manager AGAIN approached me to apologize but theres no reason to apologize because I would never come back and if I did I would unfortunately LEAVE my service dog home so I don't have another interaction there. Definitely wouldn't shop there again with my service dog. I would unfortunately have to shop again. ****UPDATE I went back to Mustard Seed today 1/19/24 again this morning and I was still approached by manager Garlan. I was just here to do a return as I will NEVER EVER return here as a customer because of the treatment I received last week. This is my second interaction now and both has been NOT A PLEASANT experience. I would go without before I would BUY ANYTHING from this store

And a really great chicken salad last week and this week tried the Reuben with truffle fries and I had to give the fried buffalo cauliflower a shot. Fantastic all around! It’s a very cool space for business or leisure. Employees are all super friendly also.

Very disappointing!! This restaurant used to me a classy clean place!!! There was crumbs all over the floor. The cleanliness of the staff was lacking. Our party someone had hair in the food. The stage had trash underneath it. Just very disappointing

The cafe is a must-visit for me anytime I’m in Akron! It’s a really great and chill restaurant with really high quality and unique dishes. They also have an extensive drinks menu. They even have live music sometimes and since it’s on the 2nd floor, it has cool views of Highland Square! I definitely recommend it.

Mustard Seed is an organic grocery store that is wonderful. I typically go to this grocery store because they have the best salad bar in Akron! The lettuce and toppings are always fresh and enticing! This salad bar never disappoints!Mustard Seed also has a cafe that uses the produce and meats from the grocery store to prepare and serve. The menu is diverse with vegan, gluten-free, and other foods. The cafe is quaint and bustling with people all of the time. Besides the food, one of the best things about the Cafe is the entertainment and the outdoor patio. It has nice furniture that seats small and big groups. If you have a chance, stop by this jewel in Highland Square! The food is delicious and fresh!
