We’ve used Yellowstone to process beef for ourselves and our customers for years, and we really ramped up in 2020. We’ve had hundreds and hundreds of our butcher steers processed there in just the last few years and have sold our beef to several hundred customers. They do a superb job of packaging and our customers always have rave reviews as well. Thankful for this federally inspected plant to be in our area. Great meat counter to check out as well!

UPDATE 04-29-24 Our second steer that went to our daughter, who live less than 5 minutes from YRB, NDMPIP testing has come back and ALL OF THIS MEAT IS NOT CONSUMABLE! When my husband dropped off our second steer, there were 6 other animals waiting to be processed... whoever owns those 6 hopefully don't get sick!!?? UPDATE 04-25-24 YELLOWSTONE RIVER BEEF HAS JUST GIVEN ME MORE AMMO FOR THE CURRENT ON GOING INVESTIGATION WITH THEIR RESPONSE... UPDATE 04-16-24: Brandon Forseth with Yellowstone responded to the NDMPIP state inspection report that confirms our meat sample is "exceding the value of gross spoilage" Brandon claims "we don't know how it was prepared for shipment to the NDMPIP and how long it was in transit...we have been informed that we are in compliance with federal regulations ".Basically Yellowstone doesn't feel they are responsible for our entire beef that they processed and is not consumable by ND state testing lab standards!!! UPDATE 03-25-24: Husband made necessary phone calls... UDSA does not require butcher shops to "sharp" freeze the meat, however there were a few other issues the food safty agents are concerned about so possible further investigating will be done. ORIGINAL POST: Extremely disappointed... had two steers , first one took 6 weeks before it was ready, and two of the boxes of ground beef wasn't hard froze... just picked up the second steer, took less than three weeks to get back... however, NONE of the meat was hard froze. Husband called right away, they said they don't sharp (hard) freeze... Just FYI, when a full beef isn't hard froze and you pack your freezer with it, you have a very high chance that meat will spoil before it is used. I gave two stars because for the most part the folks were professional, right up until the meat wasn't handled correctly 😔 will not use again nor will we recommend them. I will be contacting the ND FSIS for verification of "sharp" freezing regulations...

UPDATE: Just had the NDMPIP inspector here today to take a sample of our beef!! We hope to hear back with results ASAP!!!Worst experience ever! We were rushed to pickup our steer before they closed for the day, to find all of our meat warm and unfrozen. Cooked up our first package of ground beef and it stunk so horribly, my house stunk for the next three days!!! Honestly not even sure we received our own beef back!! I would never use this place again nor would I recommend anyone else use them.

I am no steak rookie. I know how to cook a steak. A dang good steak. This place sucks. At least for New York Strips. I haven't tried my Skirt Steak yet. My NY's were absolutely terrible.The meat tasted so bad. Like it was spoiled. It was so chewy, had zero flavor, possibly one of the worst steaks I have ever had. Complete waste of money. Had to feed it to the dogs.I was stoked to find a local ND beef place to buy meat from. I will never shop here again. Whatever this 'hard freeze' process they do sucks. Wal Mart beef tastes better.

My father visited this place once and pretty much purchased a whole cow's worth of meat! And no ordinary meat either. The steaks were so thick, amazingly tender, melt in your mouth juicy, they are the only ones I want to have now. Same goes for the roasting meats and briskets. I was even wanting to try the tongue but dad sort of forgot about me on that one! Lol. Want better meat? This is the place to go for sure!

This beef is some of the BEST I’ve had. Growing up in a small town and working in a family owned meat plant as well as a small grocery store in the meat department, nothing normally compares, but this meat truly did meet the same standards of beef I had growing up! The marbling is perfect and the taste is everything you expect from true farm beef! PERFECT!

We have purchased 1/2 a beef from them at 3 different times. We have also purchased beef from other meat processing places. Their beef quality and taste is far superior to any other place we have purchased from here in ND. Their customer service, choice in cutting, wrapping for the freezer and labeling are also excellent. We highly recommend them.

We get a whole beef once or twice a year. They are quick, clean, efficient and careful of your order. If you want a certain item, they will find it or make sure to find where you can get. They have very good packaging as well.
