Back on the 13th of December me and my fiance drove to Fargo from Bismarck and we found ourselves wondering into the store and I ended up falling in love with a little bearded dragon that I named toothless. The Prices of the store were fantastic and I was so happy to give my business to a small locally owned shop versus a large chain like Petco. My little dragon has adapted to his new home and loves getting his daily cuddles and pets while I am chilling around the house.Edit: the day we brought him home versus toothless today. He's gotten so big already and he absolutely loves to cuddle while laying on his heating pad. He's definitely a spoiled boy for sure

Would highly recommend if you’re looking for exotic pets! No other store around is as inviting and caring as these guys. Don’t go to a big chain pet shop where no one knows anything. Take it to these guys where they will go above and beyond to help and give you the answers you need.

This is a wonderful shop! Prices are super reasonable and there's plenty of species of animals to choose from and a large variety of supplies for them. The store is super clean, very well organized, and I had a lot of fun looking around. The animals available for sale look very healthy and have surprisingly clean enclosures, I have no doubt anyone looking to bring home a new pet would bring a happy one home. "The Fish Guy" clerk (owner maybe?) was very polite and helpful! Definitely an awesome place to see and experience within Fargo.

The reptiles, tarantulas, and rodents looked fine. But, the aquatic animals looked so mistreated. Dead fish, bad water quality, poor looking animals. One tank had a poor axolotl in a 80° fish room. They are cold water animals. I’ll attach a picture. Having raised and currently owning these myself, it makes me so upset. Just get rid of the fish room. Focus on what you can do.

Popped in on a whim after driving by randomly. Can't believe I never knew this store was there! Staff was very friendly, pleasant and attentive, store was very clean, well organized. While not as big of a selection as some of your big box retailers simply due to being smaller in size, there was still a nice selection of small pet supplies. I'm pleased to say this store was pretty cool, and being near work means I'll have to stop by more!

This is my family's new go-to for our pet needs! I've been looking for a new setup for our turtles for a while now and the owner went out of his way to go above and beyond to help me with what we needed. I had a specific tank in mind, which he offered to special order, but he was actually able to find me something even better that was already in stock. He took the time to walk me through and show me everything that I needed, sent me recommendations and links for things he didn't have in stock, and even volunteered to help us get it set up. This kind of customer service is not the norm at other big pet stores, which is why I love shopping local.He keeps the store odorless, clean, and all of the enclosures for the live animals are very well maintained. He had a variety of lizards, frogs, baby turtles, fish, chinchillas, guinea pigs, hamsters and more that I'm sure I missed. I'm looking forward to bringing my kids by the store so they can see everything.If you're interested in adding a small pet to the family and need more information/not sure where to start, I highly recommend this place!

i love this place so much more than petco or pet smart, while i was looking at reviews there was a lot of old ones saying the fish tanks look bad which was true a year or so ago, but as i was talking to a very knowledgeable employee im pretty sure he mentioned that they’ve gotten a new owner recently which you can definitely tell because the fish tanks are way better taken care of now, i forgot his name but this employee knew A LOT about fish and he was so helpful, although we walked away with no fish that day we came back and got fish, the worker who helped us was super nice and caught stubborn loaches for me haha

The owner comes across as uninformed and disinterested in taking care of his own animals. During my visit, he mostly sat on his phone without actively engaging. His knowledge about the reptiles in the store is lacking. I found his behavior unprofessional, and I was surprised to learn he was the owner rather than an employee. Overall, I left feeling highly disappointed.

I have had an awesome experience every time I have gone in there. Every store has little bumps in the road especially being a locally owned brick and mortar andd competing against big box stores, but who doesn't. At least the owner and his staff are working hard to make sure they have a great business and care for the creatures they have in the store. Lots of growth and positive changes have been made since they opened and it it exciting to see the willingness to be adaptable and improve along the way. Don't listen to the nay sayers that have posted, go see for yourself what a great asset this business has been to our community. You can't walk into Petco or Pet Smart and have them custom order products or creatures like Tropical Oasis can! Hands down this is my favorite go to pet store, and I love the pets I have purchased here and the level of service and care that has come with it. Tropical Oasis is the best! Love your Local my friends and support them too!

Staff clearly care way more about the reptiles and rodents than the fish. The fish room had water all over the floor, the tanks were horribly overtaken with algae without places for the fish to hide. One tank was so bad that you could barely see the fish through the muck. The bettas were in small cups with no top (they jump). It was the first and last time I would ever go there. Completely irresponsible.

We've been to this store twice. The first time was shortly after it opened and it looked amazing. The aquariums were good and the variety of fish was neat. It was also fun to see the other animals available for purchase (reptiles, etc). Supply options were good and reasonably priced. I would have given the store 5 stars from that visit.However, we were there again last weekend. While the reptiles and other animals all looked okay (even more selection), the fish room was horrible. It actually smelled bad in there - I'm not sure if a fish had jumped out and was hidden behind a shelf or if it was due to the state of the tanks... which was bad. Many of the tanks had dead (or dying) fish. Some of the dead fish had fungus growing on them, so it hadn't just passed away that day. Several of the tanks were cloudy and the axolotl's tank was filthy, murky, and I saw fungus (or something) growing on the sponge filter. Which is too bad because they require excellent water conditions. This visit would have gotten 1 star (actually 0, if that were an option) because of the sad condition of the fish tanks.Typically we will spend quite a bit of time looking over fish and just watching them when we go to pet stores, but we were in and out of there in less than 10 minutes on this trip - most of that time actually spent looking at the reptiles. It will be a long while before we go back. Hopefully conditions improve.

It has great potential to be the neighborhood pet store I would prefer over Petsmart/Petco, but on my first visit I saw multiple dead animals. There was a multi-tank of 3 bettas on the desk and 2/3 of them were not moving. The birds were kept in a small cage with no signs of enrichment, and the turtles were in a tank with water so green I could not see the other side. I understand you could have been cleaning bird cage items, and algae blooms happen, but it still looks really bad for a pet store. The lizards and reptiles had great temporary habitats, but everything else was lacking. I wish this owner well and improvement in the store, it would be awesome to have serious local completion against Petco/Smart. Prices are higher here, but I think your local market would be more than happy to shell out the money to support great pet stores who treat their animals well.

Greatest experience ever you’re greeted right at the door they ask you what you’re looking for. They show you some animals that you’re looking into but they also take the time to make sure you get the right products the right set up and allow you to like be normal more knowledgeable about your animal while you’re purchasing your items The store is very clean and friendly and occasionally you’ll get mango in one of the owners birds that would like to take a ride on you such a sweet thing.
