Informative staff, wonderful exhibits…my only issue was that I did not allow enough time.

Wonderful museum with two different ways to experience Lewis and Clark history. A modern facility with stunning art pieces and displayed artifacts. The other is a short drive to a full size reproduction of L&Cs encampment. This structure is filled with tons of replica items to touch and feel. Our guide was a chipper young lady named Cameron. Gave a nice presentation, answered questions, and added cute little personal remarks about time period comparisons that made the tour fun.

Very nice place that's a lot bigger than it looks. Take your kids and have them do the junior Ranger thing. The oath at the end is awesome, although a little long we loved it as we heard a little girl take her junior Ranger oath. Plus, it's not just about Lewis and Clark. They talk about much more than I didn't know about and about the origins of farming in the area. We didn't go to the ban deck view. Wish we had now. It looked too have an amazing view. Oh, and just give yourself 5 to 10 minutes to get to the fortThey have tours on the hour. We almost missed the turn, if you get to the dirt road, you just passed it. And at the dead end loop there is a beautiful view of the river and lots of paths to walk in the area.

An easy, educational day trip from Bismarck. This interpretive centre is also a rest stop on US83. The museum has done a nice job depicting the events in a chronological manner. There are also ample artifacts, from surveying equipment, weaponry of the time to a preserved prairie dog. Admission also includes a guided tour of the reconstructed Fort Mandan. Although the ruins of the fort are nowhere to be found, possibly due to the change in course of the Missouri River over time, it is believed that the expedition team constructed Fort Mandan in the vicinity of the Hidatsa people.

Extremely well done museum with lots to see and many hands-on things for kids to try on. I learned information there that I didn't know, and I've read several books on Lewis and Clark. Well worth the time and very friendly staff..

AMAZING! Had so fun on the tour, the tour guide through the rebuilt Fort Mandan; Grace, absolutely crushed it with information and quizzes. The interpretive center has a great selection books and the info around the center was vast. I walked away learning so much more than I had previously known. 100% recommend the $8 for the pass.Every employee loved the history of L&C and so much more. It was truly a pleasure to converse in conversation in history.Don’t pass out on learning about Fort Mandan and the winter of 1804/05. There is so much more…

Really enjoyed it, very informative.I, also, enjoyed walking to the river on the Lewis and Clark Legacy Trail. The information that I found said the trail was 2.2 miles, that's 1 way, end to end; I went a bit past the riverboat and back and went 3.5 miles. It's a very nice, easy walk with some elevation; there's, also, a Frisbee Golf course. The entire visitor center was well worth the stop.Make sure you go to the Mandan Fort, also.

Give it three stars because the restrooms are clean, good parking for RVs and nice sculpture art outside. Did not go in because we had limited time and the cost is $8 per adult. The items in gift shop were nice however also expensive. From what I could see it looked like nice exhibits and would probably spent some time going through the center if it was $3.

Top notch museum with great staff. The fort Mandan recreation is worth the price in itself. The tour was great. Top notch.

Lots of information here about what the expedition brought with them, how they got started, and their adventures here in ND. One entrance fee of $8 per person gets you into this museum as well as fort Mandan.PS. The jingle dresses in the gift shop do fit American dolls.

This is a very special place. From the deck that overlooks the Missouri River to the exhibits inside, this is a must stop for anyone traveling through the area. This is also a rest area open 24/7 with plenty of ways to stretch your legs before you get back on the road again.

This is a great stop if you are driving by on a road trip. I think this interpretive center is located next to or at a highway rest stop. The staff was extremely friendly. Staff quickly explained there was a tour about to start at the Fort Mandan Historical site (reviewed separately) and that tickets are purchased at this center. Staff gave us easy directions to the Fort as well. We stopped at this interpretive center specifically to learn more about Lewis and Clark and were unaware of the Fort tour. Bonus! The interpretive center is very well done for a wide age group. There are many interesting information boards. A separate room (Conference room?) had some extra displays and even an interpretive table with a compass and sextant visitors can try out. There was more offered here than we had time for. When traveling through North Dakota, I would stop here again.

I would have liked to have seen more about their winter here and their return visit. I think all the centers should just tell the story of the trio up until that spot. Kind of let each interpretive center be like a continuation from the last. This would encourage people to tour the entire trail.

$8 per person. Not worth it.There are two parts to this. There's the visitors center also known as the interpretive Center, and the fort. You'll want to focus on the interpretive Center. It had a lot of information and was well done. The fort, however, was swarming with mosquitoes and both the people who were working there had a Perpetual frown and said less than the minimum required. We couldn't leave fast enough. I wish we had gone to the interpretive Center first and had more time to spend there.

As we are riding the Lewis and Clark Trail, this was a "must see side trip." It provides great incite to Discovery and also to agriculture in the great state of North Dakota. The admission cost includes a tour of Ft Mandan, about two miles away.
