Wife called Friday about two stray cats was told to come in. Went in on Monday(today) had a very rude experience with the manager there. Was ignored. Called the manager number on the desk and heard yelling and screaming. Then was told they were not excepting cats and that we where out of luck. Then was told they lost funding from the sheriff's office/pd. If I could give it a 0 out of 5 I would. Really bad experience. We need better people in charge of that place.

I voulenteer for and have adopted a very very handsome cat that is so sweet. The staff was very helpful and took time out of their extremely BUSY schedule to make sure not only the cat bonded well with me, but made sure I bonded well with the pet to ensure the best fit. Bridgette is a wonderful shelter manager and has really turned the place around and made it a much better place. It is SO clean, and you can tell in the animals eyes that they are so loved and cared for. If you're looking for a new furry friend, this is your place to go to. Thank you for all your help Bridgette. Keep doing what you're doing!

I adopted my dog kora from here, Brigette is amazing with flexibility and kora is an amazingly smart dog, I have never had any bad experiences with Brigette. She has a tough job taking care of the animals and their health she tries her best

Aug 3, 2022 Just called and spoke with Briggette, told her a stray, very loving kitten showed up at my home. Can't keep her as my Golden is too high strung, would pester this little one too much. Checked around town and no one is missing nor able to take her in. Was told no, I couldn't drop the cat off. Would have to call RCSD and take the cat to a Vet Clinic in Wahpeton. W.R.H.S. shows only four older cats on their website. Isn't your mission to take these animals in? Gotta say I'm none too happy with your services. IF there is a VG reason for turning this kitty down, I'd like to hear it.

Brigette is one of the most compassionate people I have ever met about the animals of wahpeton breck areas and it is above and beyond the most amazing job I have ever seen from a humane society. I am so thankful she is around the area to be here for the furry friends we have to become our new best friend. To bring home right around the corner. She really knows how to run a business and how to handle animals with care and being really glad she knows the best interest of the animals when placing them with forever homes and I am truly glad she is here in the world we need more people like her she is deff a nice young lady to be around and makes adopting and fostering processes easy to understand.. Thank you so much for being so flexible and helping find homes for everyone there at the shelter and including my new bestie coming home! You are truly amazing. <3

Very confusing experience. I called and spoke with the director/manager in the morning about adopting a cat. I gave her info about the two pets in my home. Told her my indoor-only cat was a little behind with her shots but I would get them soon. Our dogs shots were up to date. She said we could come there at three to meet the cat. We drove from Fargo only to find out because my indoor-only cat didn’t have her shots up to date...we were not able to adopt the cat. I told her I would get my cat’s shots Monday then return to pick up the adoptable cat. She said I didn’t understand, I was declined, forever. This decision came as quite a shock to us. We are retired and love our pets. The cat would have had a loving, wonderful and a forever home with us. We are very disappointed and sad for the cat. This director/manager made us feel like we were bad people. She said they shouldn’t have to remind us to take care of our pets. Unbelievable. I’ve had cats and dogs all of my life and most of them I rescued. As much as I appreciate all the help this staff gives to homeless pets, the person who answered the phone needs training on how to communicate their shelter’s requirements and show a little more flexibility. I pray the cat and the other animals find good loving homes soon, because many have been there for years.

We adopted 3 cats from there. 1st one died from illness and last two (twins) we returned because our one year old daughter developed alergy to cat. We returned them to the same place because we knew they would be in the safe place and in caring hand. Both times we were greeted by very nice and friendly staff. They really care about their pets. They are very serios about pets health issues like, annual check up, on time shot etc. which we really liked most. So 5 star easily!!! We will go back there if we decide to adopt any pet again💜💙❤

Horrible and rude. Treated me like dirt the second I seemed interested in one of their cats. I was screamed at over the phone and given the run-around when I asked about their adoption process. Was told to "look at the rescues up in Fargo instead".They assumed I was an irresponsible college student and refused to talk to me about adoption. Had they given me a chance they would have found out I work as a vet assistant, volunteer with several other shelters, and own a beautiful rescue cat who receives love and all the vet care she needs. I wish they had better more welcoming staff here for the animals sake.

We adopted our dog, Pluto, from here about 6 years ago. Pluto and I are regular visitors and volunteers. Great staff who truly loves the animals and their well being. They will take the time to match pets to potential pet owners. They don't take pet adoption lightly, the pets and adopting families will be grateful for the attention given.

Visited this shelter on June 17th-2017. What a wonderful place! It certainly was unlike any shelter I'd ever visited before. Cats 'n Dogs roaming round as if they owned the place :) Caring Friendly and Courteous Staff. You can tell the animals are well cared for by the way they -cats 'n dogs - follow the staff around. An enjoyable experience. Keep doing what you are doing Humane Society of Richland-Wilkin Counties.

Wanted to adopt a dog named Annie to keep our other dog company, the dog is older and spayed...said if we wanted to adopt the dog we had to get our 12 year old male neutered, I'm not putting him through that!!! Seems like they don't want anyone to adopt pets here. Place should be turned in and shut down. Can't believe they'd rather keep these pets penned up than having them go to a happy home. By the way, we live on a 5 acre farm, lots of room to run and play...VERY SAD

I love this place! I'm so glad we now have a shelter, a safe clean place for cats, dogs to stay until adopted. I'd love to take them all! Lol oh! And the people are super and really know each and every animal in their care!

Clean shelter, No Kill, friendly volunteers. They have looked out for cats, dogs,bunnies, gerbils and if I remember right a kangaroo once. Can’t have a pet at your place but need animal cuddles? Go volunteer and get love from the cats and dogs ❤️

These people have my dog, and will refuse to give her to me and my dog is a service animal, the lady’s name is Bridgette she’s very rude, she spoke to me as if I was a child. This place is horrible

Owner is biased and is using prejudice information to incorrectly predict to actions of another related person. They are denying an animal a loving home because of sexist and moralistic biases from the 1950s. Mr. Rogers would be ashamed of the people you've become.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. Poor communication from Bridget. Wanted a friend to put a deposit down and Bridget thought she was qualified to make decisions on my income. I will NEVER be back nor recommend this place. Really unprofessional.

Went to the fund raiser worst leaders I've ever seen wouldn't let them run anything the people are rude and very hostile towards any one I'd never go there or send anyone there feel bad for all the animals that have ever gone through there should be shut down from the piss poor actions of staff
