We love the Chahinkapa Zoo! I take my daycare crew there a few times in the summer months and I always feel impressed by the ample amount of trees for shading. Even on days the line is longer, it takes little to no time to get in, we pack our lunchboxes and eat just outside of the zoo before we go in as there are picnic benches near by. It's always a highlight of our week and the kiddos talk about it for a long time! We prefer it over any surrounding area zoos as there are more animals and lots of greenery. They even have a cute sandbox filled with fun things to do if you need to take a little break. We also go every year for Tal the orangutans birthday party and that's always exciting as they let us decorate his cage and we watch him open gifts and snack on peanut butter! ☺️👍🏼

I love the spirit and heart of this little zoo. They are always trying to improve things for the animals and visitors. My kids and I like to walk around, learn the names of and talk to the animals. There are good pinic spots across from the entrance. It's definitely worth the short trip from Fargo.

One of the most incredible zoos I’ve ever been to. Staff was friendly and informative. The animals were interactive and close! We felt very safe walking through here while also experiencing being up close to the animals. It was almost like the animals were happy to see you! Would recommend if you’re looking for a wonderful experience that is fair priced.

Beautiful zoo with lots of animals. Lush landscape, lovely, shaded walking paths throughout. You're able to get close to all the animals, which is great for young kid viewing. There's a sandbox under a nice shade tree with benches nearby for a quick rest. The turtle enclosure allows for your little one to ditch the stroller and safely stretch their legs. We had fun naming each of the large turtles, including "Speedy," who really does move quite fast! Such a fun day, and really lovely zoo.

It’s fun and has a wide variety of animals but the animals are in awful conditions, especially the small animals. there was a super small fish tank 1/3 full with water, no water heater, light, etc. All that was in there was a gigantic plecostomus and two rocks. Pretty sure he was dead and there was dust building up on top of the tank cover. The donkey’s ankles were bloody from flu bites and it looks like it’s been like that for a while.

This is my first visit to the Chahinkapa Zoo for about 35 years. My mother in law, my wife, and my 5 year old have never been there. It was a perfect day outside. 75, cloudy, no wind, and a few shots of sun shine every so often. All the big cats were active. Tal, their orangutan, was not, he was up close to where we could get a good look. The gibbons and spider monkeys were jumping and playing. We even got to see how a camel sounds and how an elk sounds when they are protecting their family. We spent about two hours and the price was really good. 11.25 for and adult, or $10 on Groupon. We even got to see kangaroos and alligators. Very good day.

I was kinda bummed they didn't do any reciprocity with the Fargo Zoo. With two adults and a 4 year old it was $34 (with a military discount). They have a few exotic animals: Rhino, Zebra, Kangaroos, and maybe a couple others. The structure and quality of the exhibits is dated. It's not a zoo you would go out of your way to get to. Overall it's an okay visit, but I wouldn't go multiple times probably.

Wow. Keeping beautiful animals in cages when they should be free. To be quite honest this is horrific to do. How would you like to live your entire life locked up ?To visit this pathetic place is to support the abuse of these magnificent creaturesIf you want to help animals then donate to a worthy cause. If you want to see animals close up. Watch a show

I worked this summer at Chahinkapa! It was amazing to be a part of this beautiful zoo. The grounds were so well kept and pretty. It was amazing to see how the staff worked with the animals. They not only care for the animals by feeding them, they would check the animals to insure they are healthy. They provide new and challenging experiences for the animals, so they were stimulated. Working with the staff was such was so enjoyable. Very helpful, informative, pleasant and kind. It was so much fun learning from them. Loved my experience! However, I to my grandchildren to the zoo some years back. As a visitor this was also so much fun. The variety of animals and the grounds and paths we all loved! We loved the peacocks as well. Both as an employee and as a visitor the Chahinkapa Zoo is a great place!!! I hope you will be able to experience Chahinkapa Zoo for yourself.

I was on a road trip through the area and wanted a place to stop and take a walk. This zoo packs quite the punch for its size. Low entry fee, pleasant grounds, and a really nice cross-section of animals. I happened to be there at lunch for the primates and got to talk to the staff while they fed and trained. So interesting!! Thanks for a fun visit.
