This was the best vacation I have had in a long time! I signed up for the Taste of Fiber retreat hoping to learn to spin. I got that and so much more! The schoolhouse was delightful - history at every turn. (And the story of how Chris and Teresa made it happen is most inspiring!) My room was comfortable. They thought of everything you could want and it’s in there. The food was delicious. The store has an huge variety of items - I wanted to buy it all! Our class teachers, Julie and Jeanne, were wonderful - very patient and helpful. But the people were the highlight of it all! Rhonda was the most gracious hostess. She picked us up at the airport and showed us a few area highlights. She tended to our every need (and want) all weekend long. Chris was so generous with her time. She took the time to chat and answer a few of my questions. As I sat by the fire on my last night there, I felt the most wonderful peace. It can’t be explained. You just have to experience it. I can’t recommend this place enough. Try it! You will be delighted that you did!Rooms: Each room has a different theme. So creative!Walkability: Nome is a small town of 50+ people. I walked to the post office to mail my postcards.Food & drinks: The food was delicious. The chef accommodated those in our group that were vegetarian and also gluten free.

Ventured to the Nome Schoolhouse for a fiber arts retreat, especially wanted to learn needle felting, but gained a wealth of information on carding, dyeing, weaving, and wet felting. Confident enough to experiment on my own, BUT, the best part was spending time in a space created (literally from the ground up) by two determined women with a vision and the faith that God would bring about good things through them. From Ronda who picked us up at the airport and showed us around, made sure at all times that our needs were met, to the extremely capable chef who crafted gluten free and veggie meals that were top level, and the comfy rooms, this was a retreat that checked all the boxes of a vacation and a learning experience. The Owners had goals to build a place that nurtured the arts, and put their hearts into it, which is obvious in everything they do, especially the teachers they partner with, Julie and Jeanne were fantastic! I will return!

This is such a crazy unique wedding venue and one of my favorites to photograph at! There are tons of picture perfect locations and great set up for indoor and outdoor ceremonies! The bridal suite is also full of great light!

I cannot recommend the Nome Schoolhouse enough. I stayed for the Taste of Fiber retreat which was WONDERFUL! I learned SO much and have so many new hobbies to pursue. Not only was the retreat fantastic, but so was the hotel, the food, and the staff. A truly delightful place and I am already looking forward to returning and bringing friends and family out to this gem!!!

The Nome Schoolhouse is wonderfully restored and was a pleasure to stay at. I happened to stop by on my way through for a work trip and was glad I did. The hospitality was great. Along with breakfast you can get an additional lunch or dinner with your room. Our dinner was good and they held the bar open later for my co-worker and I.

We visited the Nome Schoolhouse for a family wedding. What a wonderful venue, I highly recommend both the space and the staff. Family, friends, faith and fun abound! We also managed to attend a tour of the fiber mill and felting space. I was even inspired to purchase a Fiber Sampler Needle Felting Kit before I left. (Beginner level)Sidenote-My husband mentioned that someone should come in and do a profile of these hard working women and their drive to succeed! Others can learn from what they have accomplished.

This place is the result of much hard work, vision and creativity. It is a fiber arts workplace, a fiber arts educational center, a funky bed and breakfast with themed rooms, a restaurant on Thursdays and it offers a beautiful field in which to park RVs where for $20 you can hook up to electricity. Teresa, one of the owners, introduced us to Karen who gave us the grand tour, let us look around the gift shop and showed us to our parking spot. A very interesting place for an overnight.

Excellent food, excellent service. It’s all been renovated and preserved so well that you feel like you’re stepping back in time. Gorgeous dining room with a brick fireplace, beautiful view, and a deck if one wants to sit outside to see the flowers, plants, and animals.Gorgeous bedrooms with their own bathrooms that are each unique from each other for guests to stay in, all with different homey touches.Beautiful gym/event center with a bar for any event you can imagine, including but not limited to weddings and reunions.A museum room that tells of the school’s and town of Nome’s history.A retail store to purchase any and all of the many many products that are made at the school from the wool and fiber that comes from their own sheep, alpaca, llamas, angora rabbits, and eventually a camel.Classes for spinners, knitters, crocheting, quilting, basket weaving, painting, and any other subjects one can think of.A fiber and wool processing mill where they produce, dye, and sell the roving, yarn, and all the other products that they make and ship around the entire United States, and countries all over the world. Too many products to list here.Felted sculptures made from the wool off their sheep that are true works of art.It has to be seen in person to understand the depth of what these ladies and their families do, and what they’ve accomplished.Truly incredible.

Fantastic spot! The before and after is miraculous. Beautiful rooms. Food is first rate. Service is exceptional. Limitless opportunities for gatherings. Thinking about a murder mystery weekend. Then a hunting weekend. Then a ski weekend. Once the hot water issue is fixed will give upgrade to five stars.

I love this place. I was there on Sunday and there weren’t many people there so I didn’t mind wandering on my own. However having someone with to ask questions would have been nice. Hope you get your air conditioning parts and the elevator in. I’ll have to come sometime when the mill is running so I can see how it all works.
