I was being trained by a former Frito Lay sales rep about 5 years back. The C Store in Mandaree was one of our stops. My trainer was abusive. I was in my late 50s. The trainer made it clear that he did not want to train me and played games on me to break my spirit. For example he would tell me to put something in a particular spot, pointed to the exact location and when I put it there he would yell at me and said that I should be reading his thoughts. He meant another location. It was a game to him. One day the manager heard the shouting and screaming. He told my trainer that the Indian respects the elders. If he ever did this again he would be banned from the store. I was abused by other employees at Frito Lay due to my age. But for one time someone stood up for me. I shall be forever thankful to the manager of this convenience store.
