I gave 3 stars because of their customer service. I've always felt their staff wasnt very personable or welcoming. The employees in the deli are the worst. Ive stood there before waiting to be helped while the workers just looked at me then look away. One time I wanted a meatloaf dinner and the worker said you only get one piece with that. For that price, I walked away. I get better customer service at the 32nd Ave Hugos!

Every trip to Grand Forks from Fargo is a must stop at Hugos!I love their soup bar, soooo many delicious options 😍They have the best cakes & sweet treats in the bakery too! I also love the high quality of their florals, every trip calls for a nice bouquet coming back home with me I also love the meat here, in the fall I buy the fresh cut Turkey drumsticks/legs and for Valentines Day this year I got a heart shaped ribeye for the husband to enjoy 😉They also have a good wine & spirit’s liquor shop on the same parking lot if you’re needing some adult beverages.

The 32nd Avenue location is one of the best grocery stores in the Grand Forks area - the other being the Hugo's in East Grand Forks. It has a good selection of food, friendly employees, plenty of parking, additional services like Caribou Coffee and banking, a customer service counter, plus a good selection of organic and specialty items. I believe it's locally-owned as well, with a tradition going back decades.

We at The Ember coffee shop downtown have been buying milk from this Hugo's store for years. They are friendly, quick to serve, and appreciate our business. We so love our customers and we can identify that Hugo's does as well. Thank you for your service to us. We pray that we can continue to emulate your service to others as new opportunities come to us in the coming weeks and months.

DO NOT SHOP HERE, THEY STOCK EXPIRED FOOD.I have been shopping at this place for a couple of months and one time I got sick after eating some meat I bought. I've been really wary of the expiration dates ever since and looking at their meat department, most of the meat they put out is either about to expire (same day) or only a day or two away. Going through the rest of their aisles, many products are the same way. Their stock is pitiful, often low or empty, and those foods that are there are on the verge of expiring or in some cases, expired months ago and not removed.Look at the pictures I included. This is typical of what they do. I found these items with stickers on them saying they don't expire until December. Then I peeled the sticker back and found it was already expired, according to the manufacturer!I am done with Hugo's. I'm shopping at Target from now on, which I see has much fresher and better foods.AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

This is a smaller Hugo's, so they don't have everything you might be looking for, but they have all the staples. Staff is friendly and efficient. I'm usually able to find what I need and get in and out quickly. It's a good store to visit for most reasons to shop.

Hugo's has a wide selection of food and are always in stock, but the stickler is that prices here are so expensive. From produce to dairy products and even with bread, it feels like they are trying to empty your pockets. I only go if I need something that I can't get elsewhere, or for simple convenience since I live close by.

I’m pretty disappointed with this Hugos. My family and I stopped in here on 6/2/23 between appointments to grab snacks and juice. We happened to grab a bag of crisps because we thought they looked good. We had never had them before. My family opened them and started eating them. My kids said, “Blech! Those are weird!” I told my husband to see what they tasted like. My husband tried one and said, “Idk…these taste really funny.” I grabbed them and tried one. I had to agree that they tasted very different from any snack we’ve had before. They were rock hard and tasted like old powder cheese. I looked at the ingredients. I looked at the manufacturer website. I then looked for an expiration date and found that the crisps expired in FEB 28, 2023. They were 4 mo expired and Hugo’s sold them. We subsequently called and asked to speak to a manager to notify them of this issue. However, we got somebody on the line who had no idea who the manager was, had no idea how to take down a phone number, and had no idea how to relay a message for his supervisor, but promised he would be calling back at 1 o’clock. It’s been over 4 days since we last called and NOBODY has responded. This is disgusting. We always find expired food somehow at Hugos, and this has been an ongoing thing for a long time, which is why we stopped shopping at Hugos entirely. The only reason we stopped June 2 was because it was on the way to our appointments. I find it unprofessional, dangerous, and really disgusting that Hugo’s continues selling expired products. A few years back I shopped at Hugos on S wash and I bought a bunch of yogurt. When I got home, I tried one yogurt. I saw that it expired in September 2018. (I bought all of the stuff in February 2019). I then checked my other yogurts. The rest of them were between September 2018 and October 2018. So everything was 4-5 months expired. The manager came to meet me at customer service and refunded my $ immediately. I’m guessing management at S Columbia is incompetent, lazy, not very bright, and incapable. Thanks guys! You seriously could’ve made my family very ill. But thanks for caring enough to call back!

Very very bad. They are cheaters-be careful. Yesterday, I went there to buy some groceries. At the cash counter I handed over 20 dollar note to the cashier and the person after putting the note in the cash box told me that it was one dollar note instead of 20. I was shocked, I asked all of them to please look at the camera but they didn't do it. It was not for money but for my honesty and credibility. I lost some dollars and th there was no way to prove that I was not wrong.

At th hugos by the hospital there is one lady that works at the till during the morning she is so sweet and friendly..she always has smile on her face.shes been there for years now..and that's a perfect example of how people that work with customers should always be. I just can't member her name dang it.

The owner yes you know who you are little lady, which is Hugo magnusons granddaughter. You need to get on board with your pricing of your food there at your stores. You can go to Target and buy the same product for a lot less. I don't care to shop at Walmart but I've heard that they are a lot lot less. So I'll buy everything I can at Target and Aldi's. It's much cheaper and I get a lot more value for my dollar there.

Stopped in to look for a specific item and they only had 2 on the shelf (looking for lots more) asked a gentleman who was working tos ee if they had any in the back without any luck. Grateful for the check. Store was clean and shelves stocked.

Great variety of foods. Glad I can get gluten free and allergy friendly options here. And the deli is always convenient, more nutritious than fast food, and cost effective way to get lunch for my kids when we are running errands in town. It's also nice to be able to pick up something small for appreciation gifts and birthdays at the same time we get our groceries.

Your typical home town grocery store with all the good stuff. The staff is always helpful and friendly and the meat department is always well stocked.It is handicap accessible and they have dividers at the checkout.

This store sells the sweetest strawberries 🍓 yet! Always sure I’m gonna love all the berries I buy here. And their fried chicken?!! Lord! So very good!! Don’t get me started on their whipped cream icing cakes😍.I think their products are carefully sourced and, maintained for freshness and customer satisfaction!

Yep, it's Hugo's #6. There are grocery stores with a wider selection. There are grocery stores with better prices. But this is an old school neighborhood grocery it was never intended to go toe-to-toe with Wal-Mart or Super Target or even some within the Hugo's chain. Where this store shines brighter than any is the staff. Amazing and kind people work there. I'll never stray to far from #6. They're like the 2005 Ford Taurus you refuse to get rid of. Reliable, affordable, and does everything you need.

This is a good centralized store. Fresh produce good prices. Shopped here for few years now. Was disappointed when a bag boy who was not bagging groceries, did not come over to lane 1 and assist bagging a cart full of groceries. The bag boy let the cashier bag my groceries, while the bag boy stood there one lane away, not assisting, even with cashier prompts. Otherwise great staff and management.

Everything is very clean and well stocked. Employees are extremely kind and helpful with any questions. If there is something you are looking for that they do not carry, you can request that they do so and they will let you know if they are able. Great locally owned company with a great reputation.

Columbia location has a beautiful produce section and the bakery/deli team is great. Most things I need are usually in stock and I can get in and out quickly. Prices not always cheapest, but thier service makes up for it!

I love the employees at Hugo's. They are helpful and very friendly. Prices on many things are reasonable, but then some things I feel are overpriced. I like it that I can buy money orders and stamped envelopes at the store while shopping.

I don't like Hugo's they're high-priced and a lot of their items??? 😖😥😥😥 Also their story is very cold and another thing their vegetables every time I get fruits and vegetables there they're always gross so I guess I'd rather just go the extra mile and go to Walmart or to the health grocery store they do take food stamps there by the way if anybody's wondering Hugo's is very very high priced I price their items and now we don't even have coupons anymore and Grand forks so we don't really say anything on anything not like when I lived in Denver or like I lived in Winnipeg Manitoba where's all the coupons the coupons they have is a bye three and then get one free that's an ideal that is totally not a deal so you're paying more for something that's totally already high priced already so if they want more people to come into their store maybe they should lower their prices and the only reason why people are coming to the Hugo's is mostly the rich people or the people that live behind he goes because most of them probably don't have cars to get to Walmart where they would rather go shopping 😬😕🤑🤑🤑😎😎😎
