They called to make sure we were doing alright and were going to make it in by 11. When we arrived at 10:30, they had pull tabs, bakeable pizza and bud heavies ready for us. What more could two weary travelers want? Maybe accommodations for their 4 legged hunting companions. They had that as well. Can’t say enough good things about the staff and the warm rooms while the temperature dipped below 0* outside.

Listen. I know ya'll look at this place and don't know what to think. BUT once you go in you're like "Damn, this is pretty cool!" It's as described it's in an old school. Has comfy beds and hot showers. Clean and has a small gym area equipped with some nice stuff. When walking out of the room area there is a pool hall and bar! Awesome bartender named Courtney which she's also the cook and makes bomb nachos and fuzzy navels!!!! From that area there's a convenient store stocked with anything you could possibly need!!!! Like... you don't have to leave! Kuddos to Mike & Deb for the cool concept. It definitely works! If passing through or staying please... stay here. Have a drink and shoot some pool. Don't forget to tip your bartenders & be respectful of the teacher's lounge ☺️

I found this place on line and after reading the blurb, and I knew that I had to stay here. The problem is that Fortuna is one of the most isolated places in the area, but to me that is no barrier. So after a trip to Saskatchewan we booked a room on-line and aimed to come across the border in time to spend the night.Alas, we didn't realize that the Fortuna border crossing closes at 5pm, and we were late. Having had no cell phone service we hadn't been able to call but at the border I called "The Teacher's Lounge" to say we would be late and they were so helpful and accommodating. So, after an hour and a half delay in getting there we turned up and were so pleasantly welcomed.Alas I didn't get the bartender's name, but she was so nice, gave me a tour of the the place, and its history. We checked into our room which was small, but understandably so considering the buildings limitation, but we were only there to spend the night, so no big deal. The whole place was very clean and everything that someone might need was available. We even took advantage of the well equipped exercise room. The bed was very comfortable and shower was excellent. Not surprising given the area, the tv had 300+ channels for viewing, not that we watched anything.There was no one around when we got up as we had been told there were no staff until 9am, but all the rooms and the entrance have a keypad lock, so we could come and go, with no need to turn a key in.I cannot imagine that many people come through this area and even less need somewhere to stay, but if you do I highly recommend The Teacher's Lounge as a quirky and unique motel that deserve all the business that comes by.

Whenever we are passing through Fortuna we stop by the Teacher's Lounge. This establishment is husband and wife owned. We haven't met the husband, but wife Deborah is a delight. She's always willing to give information about the surrounding areas. While we haven't taken advantage of the Bar portion of the establishment, the food from the Grill was quite good. They are also a small convenience store, motel and RV park. I highly recommend stopping here for a bite to eat and possibly a nice chat with the owner. Another big plus is the cleanliness of the bathrooms.

Staff was friendly and helpful. I only used the parcel service, but the rates were very reasonable and in the face of bad weather and and some minor problems with delivery the staff was fantastic and very helpful. Will use again when the time comes.

The owner and individuals who frequent the establishment are not friendly to people who are new to the place... it was a very unpleasant experience. Would not return here anytime soon.
