My hubby works pipeline construction and is in ND a lot over the years. This place was a repeat destination for his crew for take out lunch. So, last week, my kids and him went there for supper. Lots of food choices on their menu. We had the Firehouse meal which allows you to sample some BBQ meats, smoked Mac-n-cheese, beans and coleslaw. I was not disappointed!! Just plan ahead, wait times can be a little long.

A friend and I stopped by for lunch around 1:00 on a week day. There was one other customer.The decor is fire fighter themed. It's tastefully done I thought.It's a pretty decent sized eatery and we seated ourselves. Our waitress was right there with menus, asking if we wanted anything to drink. (they do have beer and wine according to the pamphlets at the table)The menu though! If you like smoked meats and brisket it's going to be hard to choose! Everything looked so darned good!We finally settled on a brisket, lettuce and tomato sandwich. My friend had the smoked ham and cheese, while I had the sweet potato fries. Everything was perfect! The mac & cheese was gooey but not dry and t-a-s-t-y! My sweet potato fries were hands down the best I've ever had. We received our food quickly.The only drawbacks were one, the street out front was seriously chewed up with big equipment working - makes parking a little tricky. And it's fly season, (ugh) and there were two or three really making pests of themselves. Everything else was terrific!

Place was quiet for lunch on a Wednesday which was nice for my dad and I to go there for lunch. Have never eaten here, but was truly impressed! Burgers and fries were delicious, cooked thoroughly and the service was awesome! Will definitely be stopping by again in the near future.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed with this place. A local recommended it. It was good, but not great. It was over priced and the serving sizes are small. I ordered a piece of carrot cake for desert. It was a mini Bundt cake and I think it was a spice cake you warm up in the microwave. It wasn't very good and it was $8.00. Like I said, food is good, not great, serving sizes are small, and the food is overpriced for what you get. I was a little disappointed.

Meat on sandwich was good but having to pay extra for a little container of Bbq sauce and ranch was extra that could have been included in price. Got bread pudding but it was 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" and was heated in microwave to such a high temp it burned my tongue and lips on the first bite. The food truck was amazing, but for the price at the cafe, it was not worth the $42 we paid without tip.

I would recommend this restaurant for ribs, brisket sandwiches, prime rib, fried pickle Spears. Our motorcycle group are there last night since it was prime rib night. The portion was very generous and tasty and tender. The ribs were soft and had a pleasant smoke flavor with lots of meat and a generous portion as well. The brisket was melt in your mouth tender and the seasoning was good as well. We are planning to go there again in another ride. The only draw back was there ceiling was occasionally dripping out of the vent into the table. Otherwise I would have given them a five star rating.

Discovered the BackDraft on a cross country road trip via route 2. One of my best stops. The great food is exceeded only by the hospitality of the staff. A long distance solo traveler needs an occasional respite from the solitude and that was provided by folks at the BackDraft. The night time sign is pretty cool also. Highly recommended.
