I’ve been to VB many times and the groomers have always been so accommodating and so kind. I took my dog in to get groomed for the 1st time there and unfortunately her haircut wasn’t amazing. However, I wasn’t going to say anything because it’s not a big deal. They squeezed me in last second to fix the botch job I attempted at grooming her myself! So I really appreciated them whether the cut was bad or not. But a day after the groom, I found two cuts on her chest that weren’t there prior to her appointment. No one notified me that they cut her when I picked her up. I emailed VB to let them know that they had cut her, that I wasn’t notified, and that the groom itself wasn’t done very well. The owner of VB responded and didn’t take accountability at all. She said the reason my dogs hair was cut unevenly is because she has cowlicks. Then she persisted that the cuts were there before the groom, that I had probably cut her when I attempted to groom her (I didn’t even touch her chest with clippers or at all for that matter. I only shaved her neck and called it quits), that they had been scabbed over and soaked off when they bathed her. It’s not only very upsetting and immoral that as a business owner of a dog spa she wouldn’t take accountability for cutting my dog twice, but she had nerve to accuse me of it. If it weren’t for the owner, I would have continued to take my dog to VB. The girls there are really great and really care about the dogs.In response to the owner’s post;Yes, although my dog was cut by an employee, if VB would have taken responsibility for it I would have brought her back. People make mistakes. I am more than sure that VB did NOT mean to harm my dog in anyway. However, when no responsibility was taken by the owners when the cuts were very clearly from the spa, that leads me to believe that my dog’s best interest is not at heart. When there’s no accountability for something as serious as cutting a dog, the mistake would probably happen again. At least I have to assume that and protect my dog from further harm. Again, it’s very upsetting that instead of accountability, the owner decided to blame me. However I should not be surprised by this behavior of the owner. Based on other poor reviews of VB, she has blamed the pet owners for any wrong doing/ anything amiss, and did not take responsibility for such.In response to the last email I sent; I recognized my mistake that I thought her nails were not cut short enough and I apologized. I can take ownership when I am wrong. I wish VB could do the same.We have had issues with groomers in the past. They also cut her in many areas- causing her current anxiety with pet spas. Thank you for the well wishes. I am hopeful to find professional and safe groomers moving forward.

Lindsey treats my fur baby with so much patience and care. She did his initial visit and his very first big boy groom and I’m so pleased with the experience. He’s a “doodle” with tons of puppy energy and I know he’s a handful but she’s like the Dog Whisperer and he had a great experience. Thank you!

I have been taking my dog to Von Barkee’s Carolina beach rd since I got her last year as a puppy. They have done a wonderful job taking care of her and easing her into the grooming process. She always looks great when I pick her up and seems happy to be there! I know I could not do this myself so certainly rely on their expertise!

I absolutely LOVE Von Barkee’s. I have a very submissive and timid Bernese mountain dog/poodle mix named Tommi. I have had a great experience with all of the groomers, but Lindsey specifically is who Tommi sees the most. She is so incredibly kind and patient with Tommi. My pup is so comfortable with her and I trust Lindsey with her life I won’t take her anywhere else. The quality work and trust I have in them is 100% worth every penny!

I am so glad I found Von Barkee’s Dog Spa & Bakery.From the moment I arrived the staff greeted us with a warm welcome. They are extremely professional and polite. Hillary our groomer was amazing. Lindsey is so kind to our dog Clicquot and Clicquot is in lover her! She makes her look beautiful. Lindsey has taught me a lot about taking care of my pet’s hair/fur in between appointments so it’s a better experience for all!

Hands down Von Barkee’s Dog Spa is the best in town. I’ve been bringing my 10 month old Shih Tzu there for all her grooming needs and couldn’t be happier. Nellie gets excited when we pull up and I trust that they take the best care and her cut is always 10/10. The staff is wonderful!

I can’t brag enough about this place & the staff. I had an appointment scheduled and had to cancel last minute due to my dog being sick. They were extremely accommodating and they were also worried about my sweet girl. This shows how much they care, and will do all they can to ensure great customer service. I highly recommend this place if you want a groomer to not only do an amazing job on your dogs cut but they will also take good care of you as well!

Just tickled to death with Dolly’s spa treatment. She got a beautiful haircut, toenails trimmed, and she smells heavenly from her bath. Dolly loves it and we do too. We live in Clinton,, which is about 65 miles each way. We make a day of it and visit friends and relatives in Carolina Beach. Great experience!!!

I love Von Barkees! I’ve been taking my dog here for about a year now, and they always do an amazing job. The staff is extremely friendly, and make me feel comfortable leaving my dog there. They sent a text message when they’re done so she’s not left in a crate. The prices are also great compared to other places in Wilmington. I highly recommend!

After going to them for 3 years I’m officially done. The last time I went the front desk assistant told me my dog was ‘being bad’ and I heard the groomer verbally reprimand my dog. ‘Being bad’ meant he tucked his tail and turned his face away because he’s timid. I’ve groomed him personally many times and he’s not aggressive, just scared. They have zero patience for nervous dogs. Also they are 2x the price as our new groomer and they don’t give them water during the 6 hour grooming.Go elsewhere. It’s not worth it to traumatize your dog.

We used to use another groomer but recently the customer service hasn't been as good as it used to be. As with most dog families, we absolutely love our 'Baby Dog' and she deserves the very best! From the moment Bailey and I walked through the door we felt like we were their only customer - How Refreshing! Our dog has never been softer or had such Royal Treatment! Got my Cocker Spaniel, Winnie, groomed here and they did a fabulous job! Winnie hates baths and is super difficult to bathe, and they did a great job with her. She looks awesome and smells great. Very friendly staff and will be returning again!
