Small, quiet place. My husband came here when he was young, so we decided to bring our boys. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Our boys found some nice kids to play with and we felt safe letting them explore, swim, etc. We stayed at site 27. Right across from the fishing pond and beside the creek. We didn't bring our camper. This time we brought our tent, and the creek was so nice to listen to. We will definitely be back as soon as we can. ❤️

This is a quiet, family-friendly campground that is maintained in immaculate condition. Check-in was easy with friendly service, and they offer complimentary ice and firewood. The tent campsite was well-marked and included clean and drinkable running water, a fire pit with grill, picnic bench, and trash can with plenty of room for parking and the tent. We liked that the campsites are spacious enough where you do not feel like you are packed in with the other guests. The restrooms were extremely clean and well-stocked, and the showers had plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The women's restroom had a baby changing table as well as a large sink reserved for baby baths. The grounds included access to fishing/swimming ponds as well as a small playground for kids. The owners were friendly, polite, and informative-you can tell that they take great pride in their campground! It was an excellent camping experience and we will definitely stay again if we are ever in the area!

The hosts were so friendly and awesome!! I was so surprised to get a camping spot the week of Memorial Day weekend! We got a tent site right between the bathrooms and playground. The bathrooms were very nice and clean, as was the shower and plenty of hot water. They have washer&dryer and drink machines! We were able to use the canoe and paddle boat at our leisure at no extra charge as well as fishing in both ponds. They didn’t charge for all the extra things that should be apart of camping so that made it a great trip for a single mom, ice was free and a bundle of firewood was included per night of your stay. Bring cash for extra firewood and earth worms! They came and picked up our trash each day , they made camping so pleasant and it was a beautiful spot tucked in the mountains of Whittier! We will definitely be back!

A small, quiet place. The creek sounds are so relaxing. The free ice and firewood are nice extras. Sites are fairly well spaced out so you can have some privacy. Bathrooms were clean but nothing special. The most annoying thing was the camp road. I completely respect the owners right to set speed limits on his campground. But it is inexcusable to erect road hazards every 10 yards or so. These are not simple speed bumps. No. He puts ditches followed by bumps at odd angles to the road. The result is unless you cross them at 1/2 of a mile per hour, every vertical thing you might have in your camper will on its side or on the floor! So you end up taking 15-20 minutes on the short loop around the grounds and drive as much on the grass as possible. Very inhospitable.

Very cute and quiet private campground nestled in the mountains! This was our first experience at a private campground, and we will definitely be back (travel trailer 28 feet). The lots are nicely spaced out and the creek-side lots have a beautiful background noise from the creek. The campground is very serious about their 3MPH rule, which isn't a big deal. Free wifi (not for streaming, okay for internet browsing/social media), a free bundle of firewood per night and free ice were very nice bonuses. No T-mobile signal FYI. Didn't check the bathrooms since we had ours in the camper.

Hands down, one of the absolute best campgrounds I've ever experienced. The hosts, Dawn and Joe were the most accommodating and nicest folk ever, and made us feel like family. Good clean showers and toilets, and awesome, family friendly atmosphere. The campsites were spacious and well placed, and the pristine, natural beauty of the surrounding Smoky mountains was more than evident everywhere you look. At night, you fall asleep to the sound of the crystal clear river running alongside the property, and even though we originally booked for 2 nights, we ended up staying for a third ... it was that good! We will most definitely be returning repeatedly in the future.Side note* the place and its hosts were nothing like the couple negative reviews previously given, and I honestly believe they must have simply been miserable souls to perceive what they did. As for children activities ... if you can't keep your own kids busy and entertained in the beautiful outdoors, it's your own damn fault ... learn parenting skills.

We needed last minute reservations for a leaf peeping weekend and Timberlake had a handful of beautiful creekside sites for us to choose from. Nothing better than watching leaves fall while you warm your hands over a fire and listen to the creek sing! The campground owner provides free ice and one free bundle of firewood per day - what a treat! We felt right at home and knew our kids would be safe roaming and playing because of the 3MPH speed limit on the grounds. We will be back!

It's only 8miles from camp.

Camped here for two weeks and loved it!!! The campground has beautiful views, the sites are spacious, they have water, electric and even though there is no sewer it was easy to get honeywagon and go to dump station. They have two spring fed ponds and do not use any pesticides to take care of the surrounding area. One of the ponds is swimmable both can be fished in, you can eat fish or catch and release. The people that come here are all very nice and many have been coming for over 55 years. They have a playground and very safe large area to play. There was a steady stream of really nice kids and families for my little one to play with while we were there. We loved Dawn and Joe that run the campground and they were always around to chat and answer all sorts of questions. They are so knowledgeable about the mountain ecosystem in which they live and it shows in how well they care for area. This is such a beautiful place and we can't wait to come back!!! Keep up the good work guys I'm sure Betty is looking down on you with gratitude.

The campsites were very large, but the rule sheet was a mile long. The entire place was a mud pit. There was no place for trash other than the trash cans littered around. The bathrooms were disgusting and there was no hot water either. The toilets barely flushed. The water on the campsite came out cloudy. Also the power on our site didn't work, even after flipping breakers and resetting the outlets. Also, our site ending up being right next to the road, which is incredibly dangerous and hinders the camping experience. Added to the fact that it is in the middle of nowhere, with nothing for children to do is also pretty trashy.

So glad we decided to stay here! My biggest concern when camping is how spacious and secluded the campgrounds are; I hate being on a gravel lot off a main road. Timberlake has mostly huge plots, almost all sitting on a large creek or smaller brook, plenty of trees and grass, set in a quiet area. They offer you free wood and ice for each day which was a HUGE plus. The bathrooms were normal camp bathrooms, nothing too fancy but did the job. Decently close to surrounding attractions. Plenty to do if you want to hang out at the campsite all day; a pond for swimming, fishing, free paddle boats, volley ball net. Dawn was delightful and super helpful! There is a rule sheet but it's nothing ridiculous- dont catch the frogs, quiet hours, clean up after your dog. Simple stuff. It was only muddy during rainy days (obvious). Each site has a trashcan, water, electric, firepit and a picnic table. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely stay here!

Been coming to this campground since I was 12. And now my kids are wanting to come every year. The campsites has lots of space, not like most campgrounds with sites almost touching your neighbor camper. I tell all my friends about Timberlake. Easy place to make new friends. Ponds to fish in, pond to swim, and extra. Far the best Campground around...

We had a great time van camping here. The owner & manager were super cool & very friendly. They run a family campground that was passed down from generations & they make you feel like family as well. We highly recommend & hope to go back next summer. Showers were clean, playground was fun, & you can hike on the property or travel to spots nearby. Hearing the creek as qe slept was special. It was awesome.

Been visiting Timberlake campground for almost 25 years. I almost don’t want to leave a review for fear that it will help prevent this place from being such a well-kept secret. You won’t find paved roads, concrete camper pads, or a pool like you would other “campgrounds” **cough KOA cough**. You will find a beautiful campground for people that love to camp. The only luxuries here are a convenient wifi signal and electrical/water hookup at most sites. The campsites are spacious and separated by the trees you can park between. Each with its own fire-pit and picnic table. My favorite campsites are the ones close to the creek (most of them are on the creek). It is the perfect amount of background noise and it essentially sounds like it is raining 24/7.This place is where I learned to swim and fish. There are 2 ponds here that are fed by a mountain spring. One you can swim and fish in and the other is just for fishing. Plenty of bass and bluegill to be caught here with the occasional carp or catfish. Can sometimes catch trout in the river as well.I’ll hopefully visit here many more times. I thank Betty for opening and building such a great place to spend summers and make memories. She will be missed by many. Her grandson Joe is doing a great job keeping this place alive and I hope he continues to do so.

We love this Campground. My family has been staying here for over 35 years. The sites at very large and give you plenty of space for a camper and a canapé. There are 2 lakes one for swimming and fishing and the other just for fishing. There is no game room but they usually have a volleyball net set up and room for a soccer game. This is a beautiful place to disconnect and spend time with family. I have many wonderful memories from this little place in the woods.

Made a quick change in plans in Charlotte and needed a campsite that would be open and willing to take us in at night. Not only were the owners nice but happy and accommodating. Best part was driving in and seeing a lovely campground set in the mountains with other campers sitting around their fires enjoying the rest of the evening. Wonderful bathroom facilities too. This won't be the last time we stay here and I will be recommending it to everyone even if they have to go out of their way for a stay. .the

Be aware -The campground owner Hawkeyes your every move. Owner complained about having 2 vehicles at the camp site. Complained about driving 5 mph where sign posted are 3 MPH. Complained about tent being to close to the next site over when it was clearly on our site. Charges kids 5 and old as an adult - extra $5. Counted heads to make sure we paid the correct fee. Complained when our dog barked just a very minor amount (day light hours). Owner walked around with a small liquor bottle in hand. Nice stream and clean site. Unfortunately will not be back due to owner.Visited on 7/29/21. Todd Bice Clemson SC

My family has been camping here for over 20 years. Ms. Betty is fantastic and the campground is clean, peaceful and family oriented. We always stay on the creek so the kids can entertain themselves and it's so nice to fall asleep to the sound of the water.

I'm originally from the area and knew the original owner, the late Betty Brown. Her grandson now runs the campground, along with his girlfriend Dawn. They are doing a fabulous job carrying on the organized, clean, safe, family-friendly style that Betty did; while also taking care of the beautiful environment in which they're so blessed to live. The sites are spacious-many of which are right next to the sparkling, clean Conley's Creek that will sing you into slumber at night. The bathrooms are cinder block structures with ample toilets, showers, sinks-all very clean and well maintained. The grounds are well maintained and there are many conveniences on site, like ice and firewood. The rates are very reasonable and if you compare this campground to others in the area, which I did just days ago, this one far exceeds the others. If you're looking for a beautiful, family friendly campground that's conveniently located to Sylva, Cherokee, Bryson City and Nantahala, this is for you. If you're wanting to party or set up long term residence, it's not. There are reasonable rules that ensure a great camping experience and preserve the great land Timberlake Campground is situated on. Honestly, I wondered if Betty's management style and campground operation would continue to be 5* and it is! hApPy CAmpInG

Timberlake campground, the hidden jewell. Located in Whittier, NC close to Cherokee and other attractions, yet isolated for the country feel. Wonderful creek, spring fed swimming area, and spring fed fishing pond. Stayed there 8 days with wife and 3 grandchildren (9,13,15). These are their pros and cons. Pros: the people (Joe & Jill), great location, waking up to babbling brook was awesome, floating dock in swim area, Jon boats to use, lots of open areas, everything clean, with a creek between road and campground the children could roam freely. Cons: play gear (balls, etc.) was worn and needs replacement, play ground was for toddlers, WiFi sucked, no phone reception, not all showers had hooks to hang things, bathrooms were clean but could use some updating. Almost hate to be too positive or when we go back, and we will, it could be crowded.

Clean specious campsites with beautiful views. Tucked just far enough unto the woods with the convenience of near by Cherokee. Great for kids but the play area could use a little more to offer. I'd come back again. Friendly staff too.

This is the best campground ever. Anytime we are in the Smokies this is where we will stay. Reasonable, wonderful location, good facilities and very kind owners. Well worth the drive you may take extra to get to Blue Ridge Parkway areas. Great area. Must get a spot by the creek!

I met my LDR boyfriend here for the first time, after 8 months of being together. It's a beautiful place, and I had the best, most important day of my life here. Every day since has been better and better after bringing the love of my life home with me. This place deserves 5 stars for being the starting place of my very own fairytale.
