Best grocery store in Columbus County hands-down they've got the freshest beef pork chicken all their meats are on the very top echelon of food... And they actually do in-house butchery so everything that you get is actually fresh actually coming from a real cow and not just some process that they're serving you at Walmart.. Hill's will always have my heart because they have the absolute best meet anywhere around.... (Check out that pic now that's a steak🥩!!!)

Absolutely the best place in whiteville to get your meat.. whether it be beef pork chicken whatever hills has got it and it's fresh it's on point and it's actually cut the way that you want it cut you can actually asked them to cut your steaks inch inch-and-a-half ever how fat you want them you can get what you wanted this place and I loved it the prices are incredible you don't have to pay all of this crazy markup that you pay at other retail stores and also the meat is a lot fresher because they're actually butchering their meat on premises here and that is what I'm all about..

Y'all just lost a long time customer, I'll take my business elsewhere for now on.I refuse to do business with a company that is that blatantly against our constitutional rights, and refuses me the right to protect myself in the event of the unthinkable, because that person won't pay that sign any attention.But again, being a responsible and legal gun owner, I won't be doing business with y'all anymore because that would mean I would have to leave my carry gun unattended in my vehicle and take the chance of it being stolen, while I can just go to Food Lion across the street and not have to take that chance.I can understand not allowing open carry, but to explicitly point out regardless of conceal carry permit is over the top.I don't typically act this harsh with a business in my small town, especially when it is small business but this I can't keep quiet about.If the policy is changed, I'll retract my statement and return doing business with y'all.But until then I can't take the legal chance of either entering the establishment, or leaving a fully loaded handgun unattended in a vehicle.

Hills one of the better stores....across the chain they usually have the same sales items, but each store might be running store specific items. But great and nice to see Tasha and brother James of a different mother...

1 line open. Line was huge. The manager came up and brought out a new till to open a register but that was too little to late. I left selections on a shelf and left. Managers need plan ahead not just react.Having only one register tilled in a fl sized grocery store at 6:pm is not managing!

First job out of high school. I worked here before I went off. It was a pleasant experience, back when they had the Deli. The first day I worked there, some guy named J was leaving..He stole $100 dollars out of the til and they tried to blame it on me. I learned quickly about handling money behind others and vice-versa. Management was HATEFUL. Overall, not a bad place to work..Haha..Come to think of it, the picture on my Debit card is me in that work shirt!!

Decided to give hills another try after 7 months. Roughly same experience as last time. Bag of onions had three in it that had to be tossed right away. Bag of potatoes had 5 bad ones in it. Marinated the ribs for over 24 hours, slow cooked on the grill, they were to tough to eat. Luckily I cooked chicken and burgers as well, else the BBQ would have been bust. I ended up having to throw 95% of the ribs in the instant pot the next day to make a stew because no one could eat them. Will not be back. FWIW last time I bought a pack of Hawaiian sweet rolls which already had mold on them that I didn't notice till I got home and the 5lb bag of potatoes I bought only had 3 usable lbs. Perfect name for the store, since the quality is definitely gone down hill(s) since the the pandemic, but yet price keeps going up. I live 25 minutes from town, not worth the trouble of going back that way just to return them. My time and money is better served by heading towards Wilmington for groceries now on. I have no problem spending local and spending at small chains, but the quality at is not worth it.

I liked the people that work there the day I went I asked questions and the guy had no problem helping me and the cashier was so respectful and did a nice job bagging my groceries

Seriously?! No guns are allowed?I went though the process to be able to legally conceal my gun, and there is no way I would harm anyone.But do you think a shooter will pay your silly little signs any attention? No, you're just making everyone sitting ducks!I have shopped at Hills for decades and was proud to shop there, but now I'm done. Sitting this policy is a bigger deal than you think.

We love shopping at Hills. When I was a baby my parents bought my baby milk at the old old store that Mr Otto Hill had then his son Dewey took over and all the stores are booming. I buy most of my meats there. Overall clean, friendly.

I love the meat prices. The other food like can goods and stuff can be a little pricey unless they have a sale. The employees are very friendly. Most of them anyways. Sometimes the fresh vegetables aren't so fresh so you have to pay close attention to what you purchase.

Poorly dressed employees with rude attitudes. They care more about how fast they check you out than a good experience. I don't care if they're on production, slow down! I don't like for my groceries to be thrown around and bagged poorly. Otherwise, I did appreciate the sale price for Nestle water 24pk for $1.99.

If you want to shop at Hills, choose this one in town. The manager at thr other end is a pain. Shes intrusive and wants to grab ur card out of your hand n swipe it for you. Smh. This one however. The staff is friendly, the store is clean and the selection of meats is the best in the area.

They always have great prices! Today I bought Gwaltney reds hot dogs for 50 cents a pack. Smithfield sausage roll for 99cents. It's like a trip back in a time machine!

Easy in and out of the store, usually with very little wait at the register. This is a smaller store, somewhat without the vast variety that might be found in national chains, but with plenty to choose from, particularly as relates to fresh meats, produce, dairy and other popular choices. This regional chain has been 1st Choice, for many families, and individuals for decades. Easy to get to from Hwy 701, being only a half of a city block off the way.

This is a great place to shop for meats. Whether it be ribeyes or hamburger, chops or chicken, they have it. The meat is constantly being cut and put out fresh. The prices here will blow your mind. They also have delicious hams and thick, slab bacon. Yummy! Then there's the veggie department, it's awesome too. Potatoes and turnips, and vidalia s just to name a few. This is a happening supermarket. Give them a look, you can't go wrong in my opinion. Highly recommend!

It's ok. Has the feeling of a very old piggly wiggly. Not sure if dirty or just old. Prices for somethings are good. Others are disguised as deals but are not. Nothing seen or experienced would keep me from going back.
