BH Graning completed a beautiful retaining wall, elevated patio/firepit area, and landscaping for us. They were so accommodating with changes, Habraham's communication was excellent, and the quality of work surpassed our expectations! We are now in much better shape with drainage and erosion control.We especially appreciate that the project came in under budget!

BH Graning recently installed 300' of 3 board farm fence on our property. It's beautiful and we, along with our dog, are very happy with the finished project. Great communication throughout. Installation was harder than expected but the quality of the work was never sacrificed. We also had a drainage issue on the property which they solved with the installation of a collar drain. They also have been our landscapers for two years. We highly recommend BH Graning!

The BH Graning landscape team is on time every 2 weeks and our home looks amazing after they complete their checklist of mowing, spraying for weeds, trimming and prunning, raking where necessary and blowing grass and weeds off of unwanted areas. Additionally, they always complete (with a smile) other small landscaping tasks when asked.

This company has been responsible for the upkeep of my apartment complex for the last 3 years I have lived there. Every time they came they left grass clippings everywhere. Multiple times they have caused paint chips on my car by using leaf blowers to blow parking lot debris and mulch directly at it. Unsurprising that my apartment complex recently got rid of BHG in favor of another company

We hired Ben and his crew to do all our landscaping and walkways, stairs to the lake, etc. at a home we built in 9 years ago in Bear Lake Reserve… They exceeded our expectations! It was perfect! We just hired them again for a project at a new home we built in Cowee and the communication and planning has been excellent! We highly recommend Ben and his team! He’s a man of his word, and all the staff that we’ve spoken with thus far have been helpful and courteous - Once this project is complete I’ll post photos!

This is an amendment to my original review. While I still cannot in good conscience recommend this company, after my initial review, I was contacted by the company and they did make improvements. It still took a couple of months before a crew came and fix things but the owner of the company was extremely polite and seemed to genuinely want to help.

I have waited a year to write this review so that the site could settle and evaluate the hardscape work completed by B. H. Graining Landscapes, Inc in December 2022/January 2023. On the web B. H. Graining looks great and I wanted this review to inform customers of our experience before they choose a contractor. Ben and his crew will always be agreeable, but in the end do what they want. My wife was supposed to be our project manager, but Ben’s “well little lady” attitude required me to become the project manager. In the end, we received a shadow of the product we envisioned, and they proposed. If I had it to do over, I would use someone else.First, it took almost 18 months and six drawing to come up with a plan. While we contributed three months to that because of a major move, Ben Graining was difficult to work with in the planning process. Their landscape architect did not reside in the United States and never visited the property. The landscape architect had no concept of elevation and the lay of the land, so they under-estimated the number of steps required which became an issue. The drawings were never correct and in the end were not used by the construction crew.B. H. Graining sent a questioner at the beginning of the planning process which my wife spent several days filling out and she submitted with details and pictures as examples of what we expected to create. Originally, we wanted Ben Graining to do the hardscape and landscape, however after our desired plants and the locations of beds were ignored on three or four drawings, to simplify the process we reduced the scope of the job to just hardscape. The use of mulch became a contentious issue. Because we know the property and the amount of water that moves across it during heavy rains, we asked to use a different product than mulch. Ben was intransigent, debated the issue and politely refused to use any other product with the continuous threat of increasing cost. After the work was done, by March 2023, as I had forecast, all the mulch has washed away and we are left with a muddy mess in those areas.The stones. We wanted a natural look, using wide stones for stairs in two locations. We wanted to use 6-8 foot-wide stones at the river which they told us were impossible to source. We picked cut stone slabs that Ben recommended and said was available to get the width. When they arrived to begin work, in addition to the stones they recommended, they unwittingly had some of the 6-8 foot wide natural stones we wanted. They did not want to exchange the recommended stones and bring out more natural wide stones, so we now have a mixture of natural and cut stone steps leading to the river. The communication of what products were available was always unclear and once the products are on site, B. H. Graining does not want to exchange them or bring additional stones. Consequently, we have some inferior stones in places. In short, it appears he does not know his products or their application as in the case of the mulch. He is defensive, tone deaf and insulting making comments like, “you know natural stone is irregular?!” That did not help.Weather and the holidays made execution of this effort very difficult. They did not let us know when they were going to show up and neither Ben, nor his foreman Joe ever showed up after the first day to inspect the work during the construction. In the end they wanted to hydro seed, which we never discussed and used so much straw it was an eye sore. B. H. Graining will be very pleasant when you are talking to them, but in the end, they will do what THEY want. I would recommend using someone else.

Dealing with this company on business matters - i.e. I share the expense of the upkeep on a shared well with BH Graning and I have been trying to get them to pay their portion since Jan 2023. If they treat their customers like they have me over this simple bill, I would not do business with them. Ben himself seems to be a great guy, but office staff can't keep accurate records and make broken promises to pay. They owe me half of a repair bill and I have bee asking for it since January 2023.

Ben Graning and his team put meaning to the commonly expressed phrase, "thank you for your Service." Service-connected PTSD has left me very suseptible to unecessary noise and physical intrusions. Both occurred simultaneously when Duke Energy sent their minions, Asplundh, to cut a swath of environmental havoc through my daughter's property in Watagua Vista. I was constrained to write to Duke CEO Lynn Good to have the mess cleaned up. She graciously arranged the clean up, but she could not restore the idyllic scene of pristine forest that soothed my nerves; Ben Graning did that. Not only did he plant low growing trees and a hydroseeded wildflower meadow, but he also hydroseeded our eroding bank. See for youself the progression of views. The result is as nerve soothing as the original forest; just a different, but fantastic look! Thanks Ben and your team!

The job itself was terrible. They were supposed to put in steps to get to a base but the risers were more than 2ft tall each definitely not making the area that much more accessible. I had to install railroad ties in between each step to make them functional. They also unearthed an entire dump truck full of huge stones, the ones that landscapers sell for $200-$500 each and just took them, completely stole them from us. But that’s not even the worst part, they billed us 2 different bills, only one of which was paid because I had no idea that they did that or why they would. They never called, emailed or sent us a letter to let us know of our debt, I didn’t find out about it until the sheriff’s office showed up at my house today letting me know about the civil suit they’ve filed against us for not paying!!?! They never even called!!! Of course I went immediately to the office to try and settle it but since it’s in the courts now, we’re going to have to pay an additional $3k in legal fees. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!! UNFAIR/UNETHICAL BILLING AND THEY WILL STEAL YOUR PROPERTY!!! That dump truck full of stones alone was worth $3kService: Outdoor step construction

Well, since they made me waste my time to get work for them, now I lose my time to do the review! If you want to grow like employee or like a person this is not the right place! A lot disorganization! From the loss of hours in your check to the holidays that they do not pay! On top of that you don't have paid vacations! A lot of people are stolen they money from and they don’t care! They love the lazy people the hard workers they don’t appreciate it! No thanks for the opportunity because it was not an opportunity, the opportunity was yours to have me, but for me it was a waste of time! I didn't win anything in fact I lost time and money but I learned something else! Don't work for someone who doesn't value you! That's why they are second chance employers! Make good decisions in your life and you don’t have to go back and work for people like this!
