Great experience at the ER last night. Had a tick that had buried in to my skin and I was only able to partially remove it. Yuck! Went to the ER immediately. Quick check in at the front desk. Wonderful caring staff. Doctor Austin Thompson was fantastic. He explained every thing…pros and cons of leaving it - eventually the body would get rid of it like a splinter but he recommended removing it since it was really bothering me so he did get it all out (painlessly as he numbed the area first) plus he gave me excellent follow-up care instructions. I was back home within a couple of hours. It was a busy evening at the ER but the staff manages the ER with efficiency and compassion. We are so fortunate to have this regional hospital.

Received excellent care in the emergency room this past week. Nurses Kay, Carrie and Kristen somehow made me feel like I was the only patient there in an ER that was spilling over with patients. They were professional compassionate and competent. I was transferred to another facility to continue with my care promptly. We are very lucky to have this wonderful hospital in the area

Used to be I didn't think very much of this hospital but the level of care from the doctors and nurses with a couple of serious things, I honestly do not feel I could have gotten better care anywhere in the world. I've had a pulmonary embolism( blood clot in my lung) and went into heart failure twice and I received top level care. I know I was blessed by getting the same doctor with the blood clot as I did the first round of heart failure, but let me tell you how blessed we are to have this gentleman in our local health care system. I can't remember his name unfortunately (I will update this information when I find old paperwork) and not saying the other doctors wasnt as as good but for an ER doctor the ones I had was the best I'd ever encountered

BRRH! I can't say enough good things about the ER. Dr. G Cade is great!! But when u get moved to 2nd floor and the Dr up there isn't much I wouldn't let him take care iof my dog. Very arrogant and doesn't listen to anything you try and ask. He let my mother lay for 4 days just filling with fluid to the point her hands and arms were about to pop and they were weaping water and kept her Ativaned out to where she couldn't function period. Get her to Asheville and by 10 AM the next day she was awake and talking and by 3 pm sitting up in a chair sobthis says alot about the dr care at BRRH. Nurses and cnas were great especially Amber I new she would take care of my mom. Thank God i suggested a transfer to different hospital amd we got her moved or she would still be doped outa her mind..

I’m sorry but this is ridiculous my papaw is there after having surgery on his hernia and is on pain meds because he needs them. At 3am this morning he got out of bed, Iv pole and all and made his way down through elevators and all and ended up outside in 18 degree weather and was only caught because an outside security guard happened to see him. Where were the nurses why was he not caught before he got outside. If he hadn’t called my gma at 3 she wouldn’t have had any idea. My papaw doesn’t remember and thought it was a dream that he was dropped off in that room and left alone.

Recently, while vacationing in NC, my wife visited the ER at Blue Ridge Regional. After the ER visit, she was admitted for additional medical tests and observations. We were blessed by a very competent ER staff. In addition, Sara, the RN on the second floor, was simply angelic as she comforted my wife. Being a stranger in a strange land, we were a bit apprehensive about the services and care. The staff, led by Sara, eliminated all concerns. Sara provided the most professional and expert care possible. We were extremely grateful for the high level of care we received while at Blue Ridge Regional. Thank You.

Thanks to all the ER staff including the CNAs, nurses, and Dr. Gabriel Cade. Our experience when my dad had to be taken there was excellent. We are very thankful for all of you.

We had orders for blood draws sent over by our doctor prior to our annual physical. The registration was quick and easy. The blood draws were as painless as we have experienced. The staff was friendly and efficient.I recommend them for lab work.

I landed in the emergency room at BRRH on a Sunday morning in severe pain. I can't tell you how wonderful the staff in the ED was. Carrie, Lois, Myron, Joe and Dr. Harrison were amazing. I know that each one of them truly cared about me. I can't thank them enough for the excellent Care and compassion they gave.

Back-office billing and claims processing for this organization is poor! But for the fact that BRRH improperly coded my annual physical lab work as diagnostic vs. wellness visit related, my insurance carrier (BCBS NC) would have paid 100% of the the lab costs. BRRH refuses to correct their billing error and customer service is of absolutely no help. Beware. If you have the option of using another service provider, they are likely a better choice.

AMAZING!! Wonderful staff from radiology to surgery and registration. Nurses Sheena and Lois, radiologist Brenda, anesthesiologist Jason, surgeons Dr. Lee and Dr. Badger are simply too good to be true. You're really in the best hands here. The talent is equalled by the compassion and empathy supplied by all. I'd trust this team for anything you need.Registration was a breeze. Truly caring staff makes scary times so much easier. Forget going to Asheville, you'll get much better care here.

While on vacation in NC, our son got the flu so we had to bring him to a local hospital. We were a bit nervous about him having a high fever and being at an unknown area far from home. So glad we came to this hospital. Though we were there for 4 hours during a very busy night, everyone was very kind, caring, and attentive to our needs. Nurse Joshua was an angel! My son is making a speedy recovery and hoping to get better before our vacation time is over so that he can go see some beautiful waterfalls!

I went to the ER in the early hours of the morning with a horrible case of food poisoning. The staff quickly got me in and into a room. Before I knew it, I was hooked up, the doctor was there and I was surrounded by the best group of nurses. I cannot begin to sing their praises. Every one of them treated me as a VIP. I have never had such exemplary treatment in an ER before. If you have the choice of places to go when seeking emergency care, I highly recommend the ER at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC. Thank you all for taking such great care of me when I needed it the most!

I'll say that everyone is friendly and it's clean and such. But pretty useless for treatment. Went with neurological/vestibular issues and was panicking due to it as well, so terrible combo. They wanted to give me a single Benadryl pill and an IV shot of Haloperidol (in other words "calm down the crazy person and get her out"). The doctor said that this was the only thing he could give me for vertigo. They didn't send me for scans, didn't contact a neurologist, nothing. I cannot fathom how an EMERGENCY ROOM would give someone a Benadryl as treatment for something possibly neurological....... I left without seeing him again because all the Haloperidol did was make me incredibly drowsy and lightheaded and it was obvious they weren't going to do anything else, so I left. In Asheville, you'd wait like 5 hours but at least they'd give you what you needed. I pray to God in the future if I have another emergency, they'll actually be competent.**Going to a neurologist in March for the vertigo and if it turns out serious, then this hospital was absolutely incompetent and irresponsible to not do anything more.

I was completely disrespected and treated like a poor simpleton by Dr. Mark Cornelius! The lack of professionalism and attentiveness was appalling to say the least. He seemed to be more concerned sharing TikTok’s with co-workers than actually helping patients. This is not the first time I’ve dealt with his outrageously rude behavior, it will however be the last as I will most certainly refuse treatment from him in the future. It is obvious the hospital is experiencing a staff shortage otherwise I’m not sure exactly how he is employed. Do yourself a favor to avoid Dr. Cornelius at all cost unless absolutely life threatening, unfortunately if it is you will most likely expire shortly after being under his supervision.

My husband had a asthma attack and had to come here at midnight. He told reception he was having an asthma attack and that he couldn't breathe. His nurse thought testing him for covid, and the flu, and making him walk to have an xray done was more important than giving him oxygen. My husband has had asthma nearly all his life and knows an attack when he has one. His nurse made him go without oxygen for an hour and a half. My husband had to beg the CT guy for oxygen. This hospital is a joke and nearly killed my husband.

My husband had an emergency situation on Christmas Eve and EMS took him to Blue Ridge Regional ER.. They handled his case very confidently. Everyone was exceptionally nice to us and kept us informed in every way. The Nurses, The Lab Tech, The Radiology dept and The ER Doctor ALL were exceptionally kind and compassionate. I would CONFIDENTLY reccomend this Hospital to anyone in need of Emergency care..

I have had multiple bad experiences at this hospital! In 2010 when I was a little over 8months pregnant my daughter had stopped moving so I went to the ER. All the nurses kept telling me that it was normal and how my little girl was fine. The doctor who looked like he could still be in high school kept telling me the same lies the nurses said. After a while (which felt like hours) of the doctor and nurses not being able to find her heartbeat, the doctor finally said he had found her heartbeat and that she was fine. And he told me to go home and follow up with my midwife in a few days. I still knew my body better than that man and knew something was wrong. So I pushed for an ultrasound to make sure she was alive and well. While waiting for the ultrasound I was sent to the labor and delivery floor, when the nurses on that floor started looking for the heartbeat they were unable to locate it and told me what the ER doctor had been listening to was actually my pulse. My life was shattered in an instant. But it just kept getting worse I was informed that it was hospital policy that no one was allowed in the room with me during the ultrasound. Which confirmed my little girl my first child was dead and I now had to begin the process of giving birth to her. I was induced immediately and since the delivery doctor was on a golf trip I was in labor for 3 1/2 days!!! Plus both epidurals I had done failed!!! All around one of the worst hospitals mainly because of the staff that runs the place.Since it is the closest hospital I ended up going one night with severe stomach pain well after hours of just sitting in a room in agony because the doctor was just assuming I was there for drugs. The doctor actually came into my room and told me I had the problem that the person in the room next to me had, after I told the guy I hadn't been back for a CT yet he realized he was in the wrong room and left. The pain just kept getting worse and finally my results were in and my appendix was almost to the point of rupturing. So I qualified for some pain medication at last but I would have to wait for a doctor to actually show up before I could go into surgery. If the whole situation wasn't bad and painful enough "my surgeon" told me maybe it wasn't appendicitis (it was) maybe it was just a stomach bug....Really!?!I'm surrounded by idiots!!!!

The hospital itself is fairly attractive. My husband has been sick for months. They admitted him on the first. He stayed overnight. He was a very sick man. He had double pneumonia and the flu. He was absolutely miserable. When the lady that was in charge of his care said he could have Tylenol for pain & she was stopping IV. He decided that he could do the same thing at home. When he decided to go, they changed everything. We left. He had to come back, the pneumonia was worse. Thanks to everyone that works in the ER. They listened to him & began treatment. The next visit, the ER doctors and nurses were still doing a great job. When we were moved onto the floor, we had a WONDERFUL nursing staff. Everyone took the time to explain anything that was going on. They were helpful. The entire staff was great. I stayed with my husband for 3 days. The nurses always asked if I needed something. Total opposite of the first visit. I believe that they are doing a great job. The 1st visit fell apart due to one bad employee. Thanks to all that aided in the recovery of my husband. Keep up the good work! You are not going unnoticed.

My wife and I recently had our first child at Blue Ridge. I couldn't have been more happy with our stay. This hospital is very accommodating and makes your stay alot less stressful than others I have been in. Their staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The nurses in labor and delivery even went so far as to stay over after work to help bring my son into the world, and called the following days to check in on us! We've also been here on many other illness related occasions as well. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone needing hospital care!

We were vacationing from Michigan. A member of our party had seizure like symptoms and stopped breathing. We dialed 911. Many volunteer firemen arrived within minutes. They were attentive, compassionate, and professional. They stayed with him administering help until the ambulance arrived.Upon arriving at Blue Ridge Hospital we were greeted by staff and ushered to our room. The nurses immediately assessed the situation and started running tests. They were kind and professional.Dr. Cornelius entered the room after reviewing the test results. He ran a few more tests. He was well informed about the medical problem we were faced with. He was knowledgeable, compassionate, and put us at ease.We received the discharge papers in record time.We left Blue Ridge Hospital informed, confident, healthy, and grateful.I wish we had a Blue Ridge Hospital in Michigan!

My mom was in the er. I tried to call and check on her. The lady at the switch board told ne she couldn't put me through to the er because they were busy and taking care of patients. She said to call later. What is the difference if I called back later, they still would be busy. She called back about 5 minutes later and said she could put me through now. I don't think that they became less busy in 5 minutes. This is the second time the person at the switch board has refuse to connect me to the er to check on a parent. The first time the lady told me my mom wasn there when she was. I think that something needs to be done about this. People are concerned about their loved ones and want to know how they are, not stress out and be frustrated because someone won't put them through to where they need to be. I am very disappointed, thus hospital didn't used to be this way.

I could not ask for a better experience through out my 1st pregnancy, from BRRH OB/GYN to BRRH L&D both was absolutely amazing. The Nurses went above and beyond to help me and my baby. They truly are an amazing hospital, i would not have chosen anywhere else to deliver at. From the nurses, the Dr, the anesthesiologist and everyone in the operating room due to me having to have a c-section. all were wonderful and caring. They care about the patients, you aren't just a number like you are at other places. They have heart!!!!!

The ER is a complete joke. You are better off going to a veterinarian for care. Most of the time the nurses treat and know more than the doctors!Much of the time the doctors are rude and give wrong diagnosis! Also the housekeeping needs to be fired. Sticky floors and trash everywhere shows that the staff does not take pride in their work!

ER provider refused my Medicaid. Of course I wasn't aware of this until the bills began to arrive the next month. I was on the phone with my insurance company every week for a year as they tried to come to an agreement with the provider. The provider wouldn't budge. It has been five and a half years now and I just got a bill from a collection agency in the mail.May want to get them to run your insurance first, unless you are bleeding out.

This is third time my daughter has been sent to Mission Hospital in Asheville by Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine. She is in her third trimester of pregnancy. They do not check to see if she is in labor, instead they just send her over an hour away. It's one thing for a hospital to not have a labor and delivery ward, but to not even check for signs of labor before pushing a pregnant woman out the door is pure liability if anything happens along the way. This hospital not only lacks a labor and delivery ward but they apparently lack ept physicians and staff. Be very cautious when taking anyone to this "hospital". Disgusting!!

My husband broke his leg bad, in 2 places torn muscle torn ligaments, and they sent him home with a aspirin and said nothing was wrong. The next day we went back and they did catch their mistake but this wasn't the first negative experience.
