Food Lion in Sparta North Carolina is a far better option than Food C1ty in Independence Virginia. They don’t price gauge here. It’s quite a bit busier but it’s definitely worth the short drive.

Great place to stop just off the Blue Ridge Parkway to restock our camper. The cashier was from Sparta and very friendly.

Staff are Amazing and I can always find my fresh cut up fruits in a cup at a reasonable price...Like the staff member today said WOO SAA!!! You can do that here

It's the only grocery store in the county. The store is usually very clean, usually very well stocked and the best part is the friendly service and so many open registers.The downside is the prices are fairly high for this area, or any surrounding area. They have great sales sometimes but their daily prices are just too high for around here.

My favorite Food Lion in my area. Produce is always nice and they keep a unique selection as well as favorites. Store is very clean and organized. The associates are extremely friendly and helpful. Also have a great selection of international foods! I love picking up my favorite Japanese snacks every week!

The Food Lion in Sparta NC is definitely one of the better ones in NW NC. Great and pleasant staff, kept clean, and usually pretty well stocked considering today's poor economy and supply availability.

I love Food Lion in Sparta, Nc. It is usually well stocked and the meat dept / seafood dept is the best! Good meat and seafood at reasonable prices! Like I said I really enjoy this food chain and I hope they stick around! Great place to shop with friendly helpful staff.

Update:Limited choices on many items, especially since inflation has gone through the roof. Not Food Lion's fault. They probably chose to get what they could, over raising the prices.The Sparta Food Lion is basically the only grocery store in Sparta, so it's usually pretty busy. The staff is friendly and helpful, and there seem to always be several cashiers open (there may be a line, but at least they are open).Probably the only real issue I have with Food Lion is with the bagging of my groceries. There's supposed to be a system they use where they put groceries that need refrigerated/frozen in blue bags and the other groceries in the regular white bags. Almost every visit, the bags are mixed, even with the groceries being mixed in together (cold items with non-perishables). I'm disabled and sometimes I'm too tired when I get home to go through all of the groceries, so I have my care giver help me get all of the cold items put away. Luckily she's found some of the items that were supposed to be in the fridge or freezer, that were in the regular bags, before it was too late. Also, some of them bag too many items in one bag or too heavy of items for the bag.The store has a good selection for being in such a small town.

I would just love to give Food Lyon a higher rating. They have a nice clean store and most of the employees are really nice. The problem is their prices. They just can't or won't compete with Walmart basically forcing me to shop at a place that I really don't like that much.

Store was clean and well stocked. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Love shopping there. Only problem was, it was HOT in the store. We would have shopped longer but it was just way too hot.

Food lion would not honor their double your money policy on produce. They said doesn’t include watermelon. I brought it back the next day, it was not only NOT fresh, totally rotten. Leaking a horrible odor. Their website says”exceptions, prepaid phone cards, postage stamps, western union services etc.” Sad that they advertise “double your money” then do not honor it.👎🏻

Great place to shop. The only main grocery store in Sparta, NC since Grants shut down. They have good deals and their workers are rarely ever rude and try their best to help in anyway they can.

Some organic choices in fruits and vegetables. They actually do an ok job of offering a wide variety of food, drunk and groceries. I wish they would have more non processed, chemical free choices. They have a decent ice cream selection. I found some delicious pimento cheese !! No weird ingredients. An employee was sanitizing the self checkout area after each customer. I've found a few pans and casserole dishes for baking here.
