As this was my first time visit, this Veterinary Hospital is by far the best in my opinion, kind smiling faces, easy check-in, and fast turn over. All questions were answered and above all the care team was patient, diligent and gentle with my furbaby. Not feeling rushed in and rushed out of the appointment. I definitely recommend this animal hospital.

Dr Kevin Jones is an amazing, compassionate doctor! Best Veterinarian Hospital. Staff is wonderful, caring and very informative. They presented me with a blanket covering for his crate to calm him down. Within minutes, he settled down and the staff was able to perform their duties. Absolutely recommend this office!Thank you for an amazing experience for my 18.5 year old fur baby.

Dr Jones and his staff, are so thorough and patient, going over everything as he’s checking Tommi Girl. The next morning he called to tell me what the lab showed. Have been going to Southport Animal Hospital for 10 years. Very happy with them.

The staff at Southport Animal Hospital were incredibly kind and patient with my very large Rottweiler, Dora. The technician handling her care today ensured she was comfortable and worked efficiently and effectively to make our appointment time as short and stress free as possible. If you are someone concerned with your dog interacting with other dogs while in the lobby- their facility has plenty of space and they handle billing in room so you don’t stress over wrangling a dog at the same time as checking out. I would recommend them to my friends! The front desk staff also were super!Thank you Dr. Terhune & team.

We unexpectedly lost our 10.5 year old golden retriever Bailey last month. She was in the yard going to the restroom and collapsed out of no where, I called the vet and was able to have her seen within minutes. Dr. Heather Terhune was the doctor on that day and took Bailey back immediately. She did an ultrasound and Bailey had fluid in her heart with blood clots and was not going to make it. She was so compassionate with the process of putting her to sleep and gave us as much time as we needed with her. I love this vet practice and when I get another pet I will be going there. We cannot thank this vet practice enough for everything they did for us during this difficult time.

Ok so took my pittie and Maltese to see them and absolutely loved them they were amazing with both my dogs and so patient with my drama queen/attention hog pittie. Both my babies loved them and adored all the attention they were getting. They were very attentive and answered any and all questions that I had. They are definitely the people to take your fur babies too would not go anywhere else now that I have found them

Compassionate, patient and extremely upfront and honest about what to expect on your bill. They are the ONLY vet I have been to locally who truly exhibit care for your pet over care for their bottom dollar. I feel so fortunate to have finally found an honorable veterinarian. Amazing group- highly recommended. I have two fear aggressive German shepherds- they went out of their way with both Tully and Stark to make them as comfortable and at ease as humanly possible, but they also were extremely understanding and reassuring with me throughout a routine visit. They are ethical. They arecaring. They are human. I find these characteristics so incredibly rare in the world we live in today.

Couldn’t be happier with the care, customer service and responsiveness of the staff. They always return our calls, answer questions and most importantly genuinely care about our pup Louie, who is a very protective, yet anxious GSD. Brownie and her staff always accommodate our visits, making him as comfortable as possible. Dr. Jones is caring, has a great understanding of the GSD breed and works with us to address Louie’s needs, from prescribing medication to administering his examinations. Can’t say enough….but we so appreciative about the care we receive!

Best vet office in this area. I love the entire staff. Everyone is so welcoming and accommodating, and they love my Jasmine. I recently rescued her and her skin and ears were in terrible shape. Dr Bauer had my fur baby looking and feeling better in no time. 5 stars!!!

The staff were very friendly made us feel welcome, as well as Bella. I think they did a good job of explaining things to us and telling us to schedule of what should be followed over the next several months which we plan to do great staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

I have a “difficult” dog that is uneasy at the vet. Dr. Bauer was great with her. She was patient, worked on building trust, and did everything she could to put my dog at ease. The assistant, Grace, was just as wonderful and will make a terrific vet herself someday. Highly recommended.

We do not have a vet here in Southport, but SAH made us feel at home. Their team was compassionate and knowledgeable and helped us determine the right path for our 15 year old Labrador Retriever Wrigley. They worked along side our vet and we’re careful with his treatment. Grace, the vet tech was incredible and made our experience very positive.

I want to thank Kelly and Dr. Jones. It was our 1st visit and everyone was so friendly and professional. Finnegan is a handful and Kelly kept her cool and her sense of humor. Dr Jones didn’t miss a beat, we were wrestling with Finn and Dr. Jones kept explaining everything he was doing and why he was doing it! All the while we were all laughing at the unfolding scene! I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else with my babies!

I recently took my 2 year old golden for her annual check up. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Dr. Jones was thorough and explained clearly all the tests and examinations he was doing. He discussed the status of the recent respiratory virus outbreak. When I requested, He also listened a second time to her heart to check the status of her congenital heart murmur and explained the different types of murmurs and their effects. He was very reassuring.

Our lil girl Zylah was not feeling well and called her vet who told me we close in an hour to take her to an emergency hospital. Needless to say I fired them and took her to the closest one. I’m so glad Southport Animal Hospital was the one. Everyone was so nice and made time to see our puppy. Thank goodness she is fine and now has a great veterinarian who shows that he cares! At the front desk Brownie, Miranda, Jessica and Shelly are very efficient as well as kind and welcoming. The lab techs do a great job and are very gentle and caring. Dr. Bauer is great. Everyone at SAH has made me feel my dog is receiving the best care possible.

I recently moved to Southport and had been looking for a vet for my 16 yo cat. I am so happy I chose Southport Animal Hospital! They were able to squeeze me in for an earlier appointment, and when I arrived they were very punctual. The vet and the tech staff were patient and kind and anwsered all my many questions. My cat is getting up there in age and has some health concern, and testing was suggested, but never forced. And I really appreciate that! They gave me a price quote and were honest about what he needed/didn’t need. I ended up deciding to get the testing and they were able to fit me in that week! They even let me use an extra carrier to take my cat home as he had an accident on himself in his carrier. I am so impressed with the level of care and service my cat and I received.

The kindness, care and professionalism of the staff at Southport Animal Hospital was amazing and very reassuring. Our terrier was violently ill all night long, leaving him dehydrated and very lethargic. Dr. Jones took great care of Dougal and we are so grateful!

Southport Animal Hospital is FANTASTIC about communicating with me about my newly adopted dogs allergy issues and near constant ear infections. I really appreciate the time they spend with me to explain what’s happening and what the plan is to help him with the problems associated with his ear infections. They’re very good about texting with me when I think of questions later, as well! This is something that I’ve discovered is very important to me, and I appreciate them SO MUCH for the time they spend with my Mr. Pickles and me ☺️

I moved to the area in March and started taking my Pitty mix to Southport Animal Hospital. We've visited with a couple of the vets and all are top-notch, professional, informative, and most importantly compassionate with my pup. I've seen a few different offices on the coast and the prices here are super reasonable. I would highly recommend this practice for your furry children!

Dr Bauer was thorough and spent the time needed to get to know my dog and me while answering any questions I had. I didn't feel like it was a rushed visit trying to move on to the next patient. The vet assistant (sorry can't remember her name) was very cheerful, patient and loving to my dog Deuce. I appreciate their time and commitment to excellence.
