This place is so special. They do animal rescue out of the very large space, so if smells bother you I urge you to just look past that for the first minute you're inside the building because it gets better. It's to be expected with so many rescue critters running around and there were a couple of accidents on the ground. But who cares? Keep looking around and you won't be sorry. There's a few things I really love about this place. First off, I love what they are doing for these animals by saving their lives and giving them a chance. I fell in love with a couple of the dogs there including a really old one that they just rescued who I really wish we could adopt. He was such a good boy! And also this tiny little poodle that was so sweet, and a kitty that I wanted to take home and snuggle but I don't think my terrier would be very nice to.There's also a ton of little treasures if you take the time to look around. They had an Ethan Allen end table that we grabbed and so many other amazing little pieces, including some chairs that looked like they should be $1000 each and some expensive bedroom sets that were priced very high but still a screaming good deal. Lots of antiques, quirky things, and even spinning wheels and antique skein winders. We'll definitely be back!

It's a lovely store with lots of great finds. It's mostly vintage and collectible, but there are great deals on the items. They do cat and dog rescue here, so there are lots of animals on-premise.

The Selma Cotton Mill is a place like no other - an animal rescue and an assortment of treasures all in one! I have known the owner for many years from our past lives as social workers and while I retired from that line of work, she continues to carry a caseload of "fur babies". Dogs and cats of all ages, shapes and sizes are abandoned or brought to her door and without fail, she provides them with food, love and veterinary care. In the midst of this she also oversees an amazing assortment of furniture, collectibles and housewares ranging from antiques to current day. I'm proud to call her my friend and always happy to support her business!

What a great place to find a deal! The market is full of treasures, including the owner Raylene. She has been wonderful to work with and we have several items in our home from her shop. One of our friends even adopted a cat while visiting! Many unique items at a very affordable price! If you are looking for any furniture or a new furry friend, the Cotton Mill is definitely worth the drive!

This is a diamond in the ruff. The selection of items are great, staff is friendly and helpful. I love what they do with the animal rescue. However it could be so much more, If the animal recuse was somehow separate from the shopping area. I can't walk well and had to watch out for dogs under my feet. The smell of cat urine was horrible. After about 15 minutes your nose adjusts to the odor, but when you leave the smell goes with you. Your clothes and hair continues to smell like cat urine. If you are out shopping for the day make this your last stop, because you want to immediately go home and shower.

My family and I have been coming to the Cotton Mill for about a decade. Yes, this place also doubles as an animal shelter, and yes, it can be a little odorous sometimes. However, the amount of lives that Raylene (the owner) has saved over the years is astronomical. I am an animal lover and the smell is nothing unusual to me. The happy tail wags and unexpected cat pop ups are very worth it to me. In addition, I adopted a cat from here a few years ago. Raylene rescued him as a kitten because he was going to be put to sleep (just for being a kitten). He is the best cat I have ever had, and I am entirely grateful to the Cotton Mill for saving his life. The prices have also always been fair, and often times negotiable.

Wow. This is a unique location. It’s huge and has piles of stuff. There are lots of cats and dogs around - so be prepared for animal interactions. Probably best to avoid if you have allergies, but all were friendly.

This is a wonderful place to shop. You will find all kinds of treasures. It is also a wonderful home for rescued cats and dogs. We love the Cotton Mill Flea Market. In fact one of our additions to the family came from there and was well cared for.

This place is wild! There is so much stuff here it is unreal! The prices are fair and also negotiable. The owners and workers were nice and very helpful. BE WARNED if you are not an animal person, do not come! This place also functions as a shelter for dogs and cats. They are roaming the facility and you will be able to interact with them. I would’ve given this place 5 stars but the only reason why I didn’t is because of the unbearable scent of cat pee.

First off you must relaize before you make the trip that is is an animal rescue inside an antique store/ flea market. ( not an animal lover? You may want to find another shop but it's posted everywhere before you enter ) The first thing you notice when you pull up are the kitties in the yard sunning themselves. Once inside you are greeted by other loves of the four legged kind. The place is full of all kinds of interesting finds, beautiful pieces and really good prices. The owner is on premisis to point you in the direction of whatever you are looking for. It's hard to figure out where to start your search. Love this place! Down to earth people, friendly, great customer service and all this hard work to help the animals and people of Selma! This is a business that truly gives back to the community!

The Selma Cotton Mill in Selma NC is the best place to shop and her prices cannot be beat…I have several pieces of furniture and pictures in my home from the Mill…The cats and dogs in the Mill have been given a second chance….most are throw aways, abandoned due to loss of a family member or have been mistreated…. It is Raylene’s devotion and love to these animals that makes the Cotton Mill a SPECIAL place. So if you get a whiff of a dog or cat, don’t concentrate on that, remember the GOOD this lady and her volunteers are doing to make life a little better for the 4 legged babies that makes our life better…

The Selma Cotton Mill is a hidden treasure. Looking for an adventure?? This is your place! Looking for a hard to find item from the past or the present? You’re likely going to find it here. I live near Wilmington so I don’t get to visit very often but I try to make a yearly trip and I never come home empty handed. The staff there are very friendly and helpful. Plus they also run Street Dogs and Stray Cats from this establishment (which is a nonprofit organization that helps save the lives and rehome cats and dogs that have been abandoned or neglected). The work and compassion the owner, Raylene, puts into the Mill and the animals in her care is phenomenal. Stop by! Check it out for yourself. I’m sure you’ll love it just as much as I do!!

I love the Selma Cotton Mill Flea Market! I have purchased so many props for my photography and home there! Best of all, I have been honored to receive two dogs from this vintage flea market and 501c3 non-profit animal rescue. Street Dogs & Stray Cats. Pet a kitty, find a few treasures & enjoy!

Wow, I’m sure this place has some cool stuff if you could get past the odor. We went in and walked directly back out! The smell of cat urine is SO STRONG it is breathtaking! The animals were pitiful looking. I’ll never forget the experience.

Large antique store in old cotton mill. Furniture, dishes, tools, trinkets. Cookware. If you do not care for pets. Not for you, as dogs and cats roam the facility and you can smell their presence. Careful where you step. The proceeds support local rescue and some pets you see are for adoption.

Let me first start by saying what an amazing job!!! Miss Raylene does with saving all these animals and running a flea market to help pay for all the animals she has taken in. From the first day I have come to the cottonmill I fell in love it is a home away from home. Enjoy every minute of it and looking at all the awesome and unique stuff that is there. You can definitely lose time enjoying the animals and shopping at the mill.If you have never been please make this one of the places to see!!! 5 stars all the way!!!

This is my most favorite place to shop EVER! I always find the perfect treasure at a good price. Whether you are looking for some reclaimed lumber, some primitives, some Halloween or Christmas decor, some gorgeous French provincial furniture, or knick knacks, you will probably find it at the Cotton Mill. I always love seeing and loving on the animals who are there, and I love the love they give in return for a back scratch or a rub behind the ears. The Cotton Mill is a unique place, and I love giving my business to someone who has such a big heart and gives something back. Raylene does that every single day with her care for the animals that she may find tied to the front door in the morning, left in boxes or kennels for her to find when she opens the store, or just dumped out by irresponsible people who just abandon them. She vets them, she grooms them, she feeds them, she loves on them and she tries to find them a home. To date, she has placed over 1000 animals in homes that would otherwise have been euthanized at a pound, or died of starvation, disease, and neglect. That is the kind of place that I choose to spend my money. While you're there looking for your treasures, make sure to say hello to Speedy. He's my favorite!

This is the nastiest place I have ever been in! The smell of cat urine will knock you backwards. I love animals but there are cats everywhere all over the furniture etc. We left right away. What a let down!

Stopped by on my way through town last week. It was on a Saturday and was raining but the store and the staff was quite warm and welcoming. The cats and dogs running around were so cute especially Maggy ( I thing that was her name, little black poodle ) They do very important work there with the animals, and I for one think they are amazing.I hope all of you the best and thank you and the volunteers for the wonderful time I spent there!!!

I want to love this place so much! Never in my life have I seen anything like this unique store. Unfortunately in this case, my sense of smell is strong and the smell was overwhelming to me. I was super disappointed that I had to leave. I'll still give it 4 stars because their mission is a beautiful one, the concept of the store is fascinating with all of the precious cats and dogs that are throughout the store, and there were some really neat treasures to be found! Definitely a great place to visit if you're into vintage and animals!

There are so many antique treasures to be found, walking through there feels like traveling back in time. The owner is super sweet too. She also runs an animal rescue in the store, so there are dogs and kitties everywhere. They are all well-behaved and well taken care of. Great deals, great people, and cute animals.

Very nice people. I loved looking at the all the old stuff in both warehouses. If you are allergic to cats and dogs don't come. Their smell is all over the warehouse. I breathed through my mouth or through my hand lol.. but I pushed through because the place was so interesting!!

Love it here and all the critters ❤️ , if you're not an animal lover, its not the place for you. A little of everything..Such an eclectic collection of antiques, new/old treasures, and prices are lower than most places like this. I love to pilfer, so it's my kinda place. There's all kinds of goodies tucked away, if you'll look for them. They just got in a lot of awesome furniture and stuff. Planning my next visit already.

A true down-to -earth antique experience. The stock is always changing and going by once a month we always find a unique treasure reflecting our past. The prices are not inflated and the staff is super friendly and always willing to strike up a conversation regarding your find. Even on a rainy day I leave with a smile and a treasure all my own to find a corner for. As stated on the site and the door, they are primarily a "no charge" animal rescue. Pets are housed, fed and treated with kindness until adopted. Regular folks will find the animals half the fun of visiting. Donate a bag of kibble when you go, sometimes it's not what you get but what you give that makes your day.

Although they have an enormous collection of items, our visit was brief as there was limited lighting (skylight only, so visibility was limited as it was overcast) & the overwhelming smell of cat urine. To parents of small children (with strollers), this is not ideal for strolling as there's free roaming cats & dogs, limited light & no heat. I'd suggest going on a very bright day, and if it's winter, pack a jacket. I wish we could have seen the stock better, there were a lot of things to see just visibility was tough. We may return on a warmer, sunnier day!

I had such a wonderful time walking through this delightful shop! It is a huge warehouse packed with goodies. I love the junky feel, like a true treasure hunt, not curated but waiting to be discovered. The friendly cats walking around were an added bonus! As others have noted, there is an odor when you first walk in, but honestly the place is pretty clean for an animal shelter/shop.I spent some time chatting with the owner, Raylene. She is a treasure herself, with clear passion for the work she does with the animals she houses. She operates this store solely to help stray cats and dogs. All of the animals walking free have been spayed or neutered, of which Raylene pays for. All are free to adopt as well, although I would urge you to donate to her cause if you adopt an animal as her vet bills have to be insane.I was concerned about two cats I saw that didn't look the healthies, and Raylene was knowledgeable and quick to help me understand their ailments and that they are actually in as good of health as they can be, they just have special needs. All of the cats were so friendly, I loved petting them while I shopped around. This sweet special needs black cat followed me around and was meowing to me, becoming my little browsing companion! There are outside vendors that pay rent to the shop owner, but the proceeds of all items marked 'cat' go directly to the care and feeding of the animals. This is a shop I will return to again and again, as Raylene's clear passion for animals is what feeds her soul, and it brings me joy to help her help them.
