We had an awesome experience here. We stayed here for a wedding nearby at Greystone Inn/Lake Toxaway Country Club and had the best service! Julie, the owner, was attentive, kind, caring and genuine. She made the check-in process simple and made sure we were taken care of. Kristin was also great. She made us fresh scrambled eggs for breakfast and was so great to talk to. Their lobby area had snacks, coffee, waters and just a sweet spot to hang out at. We can’t wait to come back! Thank you team.

I stayed at The Brook Trout Inn twice this month (January) because it was reasonably priced and super convenient for my work at nearby Bad Creek. Both rooms were very clean, cozy and quiet...perfect for crashing after long work days. The beds were comfortable with great linens and good pillows. The bathrooms are compact, but clean with good water pressure for hot showers. Parking was easy and right outside the building. Check-in and check-out were contactless, but not impersonal with owner, Julie, texting me with perfect instructions, letting me know where the keys were and which building I was in. The Inn is close to restaurants in nearby Cashiers & Toxaway. This will be my go-to for future stays in the area.

What a wonderful place to stay! The amenities and rooms were first rate and well furnished. Everything was very clean and fresh. The manager was so kind and cooked breakfast for us in the mornings with eggs, bacon, sausage and continental stuff was available too. Coffee was delicious as well. Price was very reasonable for the area. It was generally quiet despite being adjacent to the highway. I will be staying here regularly when I come up and do day hikes.Rooms: Despite the awkward layouts of the rooms, all the furniture and fixtures were brand new and perfect to maximize space and openness.Food & drinks: Everybody got a nice hot breakfast in the morning in the common room by the office if wanted. K-Cup machine in the room as well.Noteworthy details: The caretaker/ manager was very friendly and engaging and actively involved with taking care of each guest in their needs.

Beautiful place and beautiful staff! We loved our cozy, renovated room with a comfortable bed and within easy driving distance of several outdoor activities and our restaurant for our anniversary. The ladies who own it were so attentive and gave us the use of the firepit and all materials, which we thoroughly enjoyed that evening. Their breakfast spread is fresh and plentiful, and they even cooked eggs for us at our request. A great group of people and so accommodating. Would definitely stay here again!

Trip from Sapphire -> Cashiers -> Highlands over a long weekend ... the Brook Trout Inn was our first accommodation along the way, and we couldn't have asked for more. (We'd never been to this area of NC so didn't quite know what to expect.) This place is directly off the main drag, and is run by a husband and wife with a small team to assist.Julie (the owner) was as sweet as pie, and each morning greeted us in the dining area, offering to prepare our bacon and eggs in any style. This was probably the best aspect of our stay. She was happy to talk with us endlessly, and quick to make an outline of all thing things we could do during our stay. The continental breakfast area was always available for guest use, we really loved that; we played hours of Uno there of an evening. The property is close enough to the main road that you can hear traffic, but the noise was tolerable, and it was not constant. This did not bother us, and would not deter us from another stay here, ever.I fail to understand any review which is four stars or less, people will complain about everything. The accommodations were priced just right ... we stayed in high-season (July) and were quite pleased by what we paid. The Brook Trout Inn exceeded our expectations in every way.Rooms: The rooms, while small, are efficient and most importantly of all--*so* clean. We stayed in one of the "round house" buildings (I think there are only 2?) on the second level. Our deck was shared by the neighboring room, with whom we enjoyed chatting one evening on said deck. Our room was equipped with a mini-fridge. Soaps, towels, toilet paper, and everything you would expect in a standard hotel were provided. The walls are thin enough to hear our neighbors, however everyone seemed to be respectful, so it didn't bother us too much (there was a cute barky dog next to us, but her cuteness exceeded her barkiness).A note about the rooms being small - there are common spaces all around the property aplenty. So the room size didn't matter too much to us because our time spent there was basically for sleeping / showering. The main building, as already mentioned, has a great room / parlor area with fireplace for hanging out. There are chairs on the front porch, and even an outdoor firepit with a view of the neighboring mountain ridge (which we did not use). The size of the room was outdone by all of these added amenities, and there felt like a sense of community there. Do not let room size deter you from a stay.Nearby activities: Go hike Gorges State Park! Then go to Whitewater Falls.

Rooms are super cool. Staff was above and beyond with hospitality. This area is packed so don't assume you'll just find a spot if you go towards the end of August beginning of September. We only got lucky and someone canceled and they called and offered us a room. If you can find a room. Here during your travels I don't think you can do any better for the price.

We spent one night in the Rhododendron room and absolutely loved it. The room was cozy and clean, the grounds were well kept; like a little forest oasis. We came from Greenville, SC to watch the meteor shower (away from all the light pollution in the city) and got an incredible view from our little balcony, and while sitting on one of their many lawn areas. We are going back in December to watch the next meteor shower! The lobby area was immaculate and had a great breakfast selection (bacon and eggs, bagels, toast, oatmeal, OJ, a keurig with plenty of creamer options). It was just such a comfortable stay for us, and we can't recommend this place enough. We felt comfortable with the fact that it was LGBTQ+ friendly, and big shout out to Robyn for getting our stay all set up for us via the phone and who was patient with our endless questions! Thank you!

We worked in Cashier's and stayed 4 nights. Rented a walk out basement unit with a new cozy patio. The parking was right across the driveway and perfect for us. Great cabin/cottage type property with 3 0r so units on each building. Very clean and comfortably furnished with a full kitchen. Water was hot and good pressure. Current appliances with a comfortable country decor. Over all the property looked well maintained and the mgr was VERY helpful. We were in the off season so it was very quiet. We are building a newer store up here so I'm sure to stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Brook Trout Inn this past weekend with our dog Callie (they are super pet-friendly). The rooms were comfortable and well-appointed and the service was friendly and excellent! They have a fantastic common kitchen with complimentary snacks, breakfast, and anything else you would ever need. I highly recommend the Brook Trout Inn, especially if you are traveling with your dog! Please note, I think they have specific rooms that are pet-friendly so I would recommend you call them in advance to make sure your pup can be accommodated. There is a restaurant down the road a few minutes called The Fix that has one of the best burgers I've ever had as well! I'd avoid Osteria next door though, over-priced Italian food with horrible service.

We had an absolutely wonderful weekend here! Every member of staff we met was so warm and welcoming, and the serve yourself breakfast was great! The area is beautiful and the inn was calm and quiet. The best part was staff went out of their way to help my fiancé make an already amazing proposal even better. I highly recommend staying here when you come to the area!

We asked for a room with a king size bed but the person making reservations said none were available however she called me back and said she had a family suite with a king and we reserved it. I was very impressed with the decor and very much enjoyed our stay. The restaurant next door is excellent and very convenient. I would love to come back.

When my plans fell through I needed a place to stay for one night in the Cashiers area. I'm glad I stumbled upon this cute little mountain inn. The pictures online do not do it justice at all. When we pulled in the parking lot the grounds were meticulously landscaped and maintained. The lady at the front desk could not have been nicer and showed us around the property. The room itself is small however super clean. Besides my bed at home it must be the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. I'm extremely picky when it comes to mattresses and this one does not disappoint! It looks clean and smells clean from the minute you walk in. I don't know why you wouldn't give this place a five-star review. They have a fire pit outback with complimentary wood to burn and a cute sunroom attached to the main office with board games, card games and checkers. They even have a gas log fireplace you can turn on. Do yourself a favor and just stay here!

Agree with the reviews that talk about how clean and comfortable it is but want to add that it is apparently pet friendly. Had a nice chat with a fellow patron over breakfast in the common area (started to say Inn mate but that doesn't sound right :-) ) who said his company found him this place as he is on assignment for weeks and didn''t want to leave his small cute dog for that long. He said he didn't believe they charged extra for the small dog but I can't confirm that.

We stayed one night at Brook Trout Inn with our dog while visiting the area for fall foliage. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful when checking in, giving us a little tour of the property before going to our room. Our first floor room was clean and nice with a grassy area to walk the dog just outside. The location is great, with easy access to Cashiers, Gorges State Park, Panthertown Valley and countless waterfalls and hiking trails. We would definitely stay here again next time we're in the area.

Julie, Jim and Lori are the 5 star hosts at a 5 star Inn in the beauty of the Sapphire Valley.Clean, comfortable and cozy are all adjectives for the Brook Trout Inn.Beautiful grounds with a walking trail and a fire pit.Comfy lounge with a fireplace and a big games and meals table are next to a large kitchen well stocked with complimentary snacks, drinks, eggs, bacon, yogurt, juice and breads; with all of the pans, utensils, silverware, plates, bowls, etc.the back deck is the perfect spot for watching the sun set.My wife and I enjoyed the lounge with the fireplace while drinking wine, eating popcorn and playing games. The rooms are comfortable, with a mild modern outdoor theme. All rooms have coffee and fridges with a microwave and cooking griddles in the lounge kitchen. All of this true. However, the absolute best attribute of the Brook Trout Inn is Jim, Julie and Lori. Put this inn at the very top of your list! They made our stay so very special and memorable. God willing, we will be back for sure!

We found this gem while looking for a overnight stay for work. The office and room are very clean. The bed is very comfortable. The office offers a large seating area. We stayed in the king room that allows pets. We always bring our own bedding when we travel with pets. We want to ensure that we leave the room’s bedding as clean as we found it.

We found the Brook trout inn while looking for a weekend getaway in Sapphire NC. The staff were very nice and accommodating. Our room was perfect for the weekend and the bathroom was nice as well. Breakfast was included and we were able to pick whatever we wanted. They have a nice fireplace in the common area and a fire pit outside. We look forward to staying there again.

Great property. The rooms are updated, clean, and comfortable. The common areas are also very nice and the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The kitchen is well stocked and there are many games. The fire pit has great supplies for a campfire or roasting s'mores. The location is also very convenient to many area waterfalls, lakes, and towns. Will definitely stay here again.

A home away from home! Brook Trout Inn was one of our most favorite, coziest places we've stayed. All of the staff was extremely sweet. The cabin was very clean and decorated so nicely. They served breakfast and had a really cozy area to sit. There was an awesome firepit outside where you can build your own fire with wood they provide. There are amazing trails not even ten minutes away at Gorge State Park. We are 100% going back here!

Wish I had more than a night to explore the area. Room was great. Shared lobby/kitchen area was amazing. Really impressed with the furniture and fixtures. Everything has an older country feel but is clearly brand new if that makes sense. Nice trail and entertaining area in the back. Gorgeous views. Owner is great at communicating. There is a really nice resort close by I believe you can get a guest pass for. Would stay here again for sure!

This weekend was our 2nd stay here. A year ago, we found it while snow chasing. We liked it so much that we came back this winter. We and our fellow guests were snowed in & the hospitable owner made a large pot of stew for us all to share. The children all played games and sledded down the hill. It was a wonderful stay. Thank you so much! Pet friendly! Comfortable clean beautiful location friendly owners.
