Our big, goofy babies just spent 5 nights at Hatteras Island Pet Resort while our boarding business was closed for vacation and they seemed to have a blast! We enjoyed so many picture updates through Facebook and staff communication was great via email! Very professional and friendly.We checked them out one morning for a walk and playtime on the beach just across the street. Upon returning to the lobby, they happily followed staff right through the door back to their kennels without even saying “goodbye”. 🤧😂 It was very comforting to know they (and we) felt like they were in good hands. We will definitely use them again if we come back this way!

I took my two dogs in for grooming during a three week trip to OBX. It was fast and affordable, and they came home wearing adorable Halloween-themed ribbons on their collars. The employees seemed to really love working with animals; if we lived nearby this would be our go-to place for boarding and grooming.

Took my German short haired pointer to get his bath and nails trimmed. He loves a spa day and they loved him. I'm not sure what they did to him but he's never come out of the spa fluffy. 🤣. I don't know if he's ever been that clean or it's the shampoo. Either way I'll keep taking the big lug back while I'm assigned here in the OBX..

Our two dogs had their first of hopefully many happy stays here last week. They came home calmer and happier than I think we've ever seen at a kennel. And so clean!! We appreciated the advance data gathering and attention to detail that hatteras island pet resort offers. And we REALLY loved seeing pics of our happy pups online during their stay. No finicky dog request seemed to cause any concern on their part -- the setup guarantees they get attention and I think that makes all the difference. We love this place!

Banks has been going to Hatteras Island Pet Resort for a couple of years now and every time we pull up his tail is wagging and he can’t wait to get into the building to get all the love/attention from the awesome staff. Today was the first time I used the groomer-Hannah and she is great!! Hannah made Banks feel so comfortable when she cleaned/plucked his ears which is hard to get any groomer to do! Thanks so much for all that you do for Banks! Love this place!! ❤️🐾

I dropped my dog, Cooper, off for a bath/nail appointment with Hannah. He has had a lot of fun on vacation but really needed a bath. He immediately went to her in the lobby. I could tell he was comfortable instantly. The front staff was welcoming and kind. An hour later I returned to a handsome and happy pup! Thank you, Hannah for your attention and love to my pup. We will be back to see you! What an amazing place. The owner is phenomenal!

Hatteras Island Pet Resort has been amazing for my puppy and I. He's stayed there multiple times and they're always wonderful with him, they always remember him and while he's always glad to see me when I come to pick him up, he eagerly goes with them and doesn't look back. Their rates for boarding, nail clipping and baths are very competitive and even though their site shows fees for early pick-up and drop-off, they're almost always willing to work with you assuming they have the space. This has allowed me to leave the island earlier or come back later and saved me many hours in Virginia or Raleigh traffic. I can't recommend them enough.

Had an absolutely fantastic experience boarding my dog for a week. The staff saw right away that my dog who is a recent rescue would be more comfortable in a quieter spot, so they set her up in a place where she'd feel super safe and secure. They gave her special attention to ensure she was eating and everyone on staff was great to me, too. Wonderful people. Clean facility. Easy to get to right off the bridge. Terrific communication. I'll gladly work with them again and give them my highest rating, gratitude, and recommendation.

Best boarding experience ever! This was my first time boarding my dogs here but will definitely not be the last. It’s the perfect solution when not staying in a pet friendly house. We checked the pups out almost every day to join the rest of the family on the beach, even though we never felt like we needed to. The pups were happy and excited to return each evening and followed right back. The one day that we didn't check them out, the FB pictures were great to see! The staff were incredible and took the time to learn the dogs personality and traits to provide the best care! We will definitely be back, even if future houses are pet friendly!

The staff was extremely organized and prepared for our dogs arrival! I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility as well. I loved the daily pics uploaded to Facebook it was awesome to see our dogs having a great time. I really appreciate that they don’t do group play just one on one. We picked up happy dogs at the end of our vacation, it was great to not have to stress about them knowing that they were in great hands.

This was our second time using Hatteras Island Pet Resort and they have yet again exceeded our expectations. We picked our dogs up throughout the week, but we never felt like we needed to. Our dogs were happy and excited to go back. The staff is so friendly and great with our pups. We will continue using them when we return to Hatteras. What a wonderful place! My fur babies Ben and Yogi stayed 2 nights. I waited too long to book so I was only able to get the 2 nights. Regardless, It that was relaxing free time for me knowing my fur babies were in caring hands. We've used HIPR many times over the years when vacationing in Cape Hatteras. The staff are genuine animal lovers, the facilities well maintained and nicely decorated, like a B&B for pets. A hidden gem for pets.

On separate days I have now had the remarkable experience for both me and my dogs. I have a three year old Cavalier and a 11 year old Mulipoo. Each time we have been met with just love and kindness from Sabrina and Ireland.Their groomer, Hannah is by far the best I have ever found..I am so happy. These ladies are the best! We drive 1.5 hours to drop Ella off with them if we can't take her on a trip with us. Not being in a small kennel, like most boarding places, and the care they give is worth the drive. Ella wags her tail when she gets there which is surprising because she has bad separation anxiety. That says a lot about the place. Highly recommended!

From the first time I called with questions, to dropping my dogs off for their vacation, they were very attentive to details about my dogs, they asked questions and genuinely cared for my dogs like their own. I, as most pet owners, are very picky over where their pets are boarded. I cannot say enough great things about Hatteras Island Pet Resort. My two dogs are happy to arrive there so I know they are well taken care of.The staff is very caring and gets to know your pet. I highly recommend them for any pet boarding needs.

Our dogs Tristan and Tanner stayed here for a week! The staff were very friendly however, upon returning home they BOTH got sick. We took Tristan to the vet and he had contracted a respiratory illness while he stayed there. Both of my dogs have been vaccinated and both have gotten sick with Kennel Cough! I know this is common however we have never had them contract illnesses when staying at a boarder. Very disappointing because the staff were so friendly 😕 I am now questioning the sanitation methods used to ensure every dog is safe and protected during there stay.

The caring team at HIPR made us feel right at home, and our babies feel like they weren't in dire need of us after all.We LOVED the Facebook updates and the updates whenever we would call to check on them. It was clear to us that the staff were loving on our girls as much as we would if we were there, and we had no concerns leaving them in the staff's capable hands.Wish they had a branch in our hometown, but alas. I suppose we will just have to make do whenever we visit OBX.<3

They people at this pet resort were so kind to me and my 10yr old pitbull! We came down for vacation from Missouri and they were flexible and allowed me to add additional days as they became available. My dog seemed to really enjoy it there and was eager to go in when we came back consecutive days. I day boarded her 3 days and overnight boarded her 1 day. I highly recommend! They are also in a great location! I plan to board my dog there again next year! They also board cats and keep them in a separate part of the building :)

Stop looking. You found the place where your dog is loved, cared for and you don't have to worry! Trust me, call me, use me as a reference. You found your place. I researched, googled, read reviews, had sleepless nights lol before choosing Hatteras Island Pet Resort. I picked it because after talking to them on the phone, I knew these girls really love what they do. They run a 10 star resort! The reviews do not lie. I was just getting ready to come to the Outer Banks from NJ on vacation in May. My dog got stung by a bee, or had a splinter lodged in her paw on Friday and we were leaving on Sunday for vacation. I let the girls at the resort know about this new issue because I wasn't sure if she would still be welcomed because now she needed antibiotics, and had an inflamed paw.I let them know she was vet approved to travel. The vet stated that the pet resort might be the best thing for her because I could keep her stationary more than I could at home. HIPR said no problem. They welcomed her with open arms. I have a little gray chihuahua mix named Gracie, she takes some time to warm up, plus her paw was hurting, so she was a little scared. THEY TOOK CARE OF HER LIKE SHE WAS THEIR OWN. They were so gentle and kind with her. I have never, ever in my life seen care like she was given. She got her meds on time, they posted pictures of her on their FB page, gave me daily updates when I inquired or just to fill me in and keep me posted. Plus, I'm not their only call of the day and they answered every single time like I was. They are so pleasant to deal with, even when dealing with nervous pet owners (ME!). This was Gracie's first time in a kennel type situation.When I picked her up, they gave her the best bath she ever got in her life! They didn't have to load her up with perfume, she came out better than she came in! Her coat was beautiful after her bath. Her coat was gorgeous and soft. They make sure she eats, they give her the treats you supply and then some, they make sure she has dry bedding. You name it, they care about it. They even soaked my dogs paw when they saw a little swelling, and went and got Epson salts! Have you ever?! This type of care you can only dream of. They know how to take care of your dog!I posted a picture on my Facebook page of my dog on her vacation at the Pet Resort, and I can't tell you how many of my friends commented on how clean the play area was and the resort itself. It is immaculate. You can pay extra for beach walks, which I did, although next time it will have to be because she could not do walks this time around. What a great option though, right?I can't thank Sabrina, Elaine and Ireland enough for caring so much for Gracie! I go to the Outer Banks every year, and you will be my only choice to watch Gracie. This was the first year I had her, so we will be back next year. I can't thank you enough for the peace of mind you gave me. And the love and care you showed for my dog. You girls should be so proud of what you do, I know it's hard work, it's thankless at times, and tiring (because I did it myself for 22 years haha, I know!) but you run a beautiful resort. And if anyone has any doubts, you give them my number and I will let them know how much I love you all! I'm serious now! If I could give you 10 stars I would! Love you girls! PS. Gracie says she misses you!

Callie was greeted by the staff as wshe arrived for her first full grooming. Hannah did a wonderful job of getting the matting and burrs out of her fur. She is going back for a followup grooming soon.
